I finally understand what Lupe was saying when he said to Royce "Mickey can do what you do, but elevate it to a higher level" Mickey used Royce's flow and technicality but gave it DIRECTION and kept it focused and consistent and conceptual.

At the 27:50 mark, here's the background story about the battle with Mista FAB >> Back in Sept 2007, there was a performance showcase at a popular Live Music Venue in NYC called "Sounds of Brazil" (aka SoB's). This particular event was sponsored by Hot 97 Radio Station with Fatman Scoop as the host. It was called the "All Hip-Hop Regional Battle" Event. And the concept was to have multiple emcees (from all over the country) come to NYC to perform and/or battle each other. - The Live Performers included: Freeway, MOP, Joell Ortiz & Whiz Khalifa - The Battlers included: Joe Budden (reppin' the East Coast), Royce 5'9 (Mid-West), Mista Fab (West Coast) & Phonte from "Little Brother" (The South). Mista FAB was supposed to battle Phonte. But Phonte had dropped out of the Battle several hours before the event started. And Joe was supposed to battle Royce. But this event was the same night that Joe Budden's younger brother (named Steven? I think) was shot 8x times & taken to the hospital, in critical condition. So Joe never showed up @ SoB's for the battle that night. At the time, nobody really knew all this drama was going on with Joe. The whole event waited for Joe for over 1 hour, before Hot 97 Staff finally decided to just have Mista FAB battle Royce as a replacement match, in order to quell the crowd that was growing more & more restless. The End Result.... Mista FAB BODYBAGGED Royce. (And won the crowd over at the same time.) XXL Magazine & AllHipHop.com) plus all the local NYC radio stations. Mista FAB did SEVERAL interviews & bragged about his victory... so Royce got upset & dropped a diss track. But Mista FAB bodybagged him AGAIN... on wax... with a rebuttal track. But this was a moment of hip-hop history... because this is HOW the Slaughterhouse Group actually got started. Joe Budden, Crooked I & Royce proceeded to take shots at Mista FAB & drop more diss tracks & mention him in other songs.... And pretty soon Joell Ortiz joined in... and that's how they all decided to start recording together, as a group.. and the rest is history.

I think his mountain scheme was a quad entendre and he even tied back in too the bill Cosby scheme right before. Mickeys pen is crazy.

Exactly, Royce was never a battle rapper. He even said, he went to hip hop shop once & got gonged. That's why he mainly worked out at Ebony showcase. That was never his lane. He can talk mad ish on a record & showed that in Malcolm x & in Bar exams, joists wit preem & Slaughterhouse, he spit hard at mc's in general. Not at anyone in particular. I know he said he was down 2 battle on who can make a better track as an mc & not str8 disses. But, as salty as he's been talking on lives & to an extent talking down to a lot of cats. Wasn't a good look 2 begin with. Established, certified mcs (not speaking on battle rappers) they don't go off talking that salty about how they are on a different level & you can't talk to me type ish. That came off as insecurity to me, especially since he's not & never been a battle rapper. OG, top teir lyrists who been around as long as Royce don't talk to other mcs like that. They say it on the track & let their work speak for itself especially when they given you flowers. Mickey was being hella respectful to Royce. Through all the ramblings that Royce been doing, i think i get the point he's tryin to make. For industry rappers that aren't from the battle rap scene.(especially coming up in the 90s.) Diss tracks aren't just made & then shake hands after & move on. Mickey can do that, he came up in that arena. Royce knows that can left quick. Hell him & proof pulled on each other on the streets. And if they didn't get arrested, who knows where that could of went. They squashed the iah sitting in opposite cells. But, this isn't that or on some Big & Pac ish, level. With Lupe there's enough personal issues besides the diss track for him to respond. He definitely should do that. But, with Mickey, it's not personal except the diss track that Mickey had no choice with how disrespectful he was being to him, while Mickey had shown nothing but love to him. Royce can't have it both ways. 1 minute on some positive, unity tip, & flip that switch and getting salty af, talking bout punching cats, bringing death to your doorstep... then get surprised when someone calls you out. This went from being hyped af for fans & artists who been following this, to being way too much drama that's not on a track. Now after all of this in retrospect, Royce did response by whining hours on podcast and whatnot talking to people (Mickey included) and didn't make a goddamn sense. It really made me look Royce differently 😅 Being silent would have been more than fine but the temper tantrums were.. ugh what are doing/saying. The couple dissections Lupe made afterwards was completely on point and then he dropped the whole topic while Royce was still puffing and huffing.

I honestly think Royce was killed by Lupe and Factz, but I will say that people saying Royce raps like Em are ignoring that they influence each other. Em was never a punchline dude until he took that influence from Royce and the rest of Slaughterhouse. There's other elements of Royce in Em's newer styles just like there's Em in Royce's style .

Royce ain't battled in awhile. He did kill "Who got Bodied" (Mistah Fab diss), "Shit on you" (D12 diss) and "Malcom X" ( D12 Diss) but he wasn't as technical then. He had a few more, but I'd say those are his best three. Lupe and Mickey got him though. We will see what happens, but Mickey went above and beyond.
