I just need to beat event 51. I’ve had this game for 14 years and It’s been 4 years since I got to this event and I still can’t beat this. Hopefully I’ll get it after watching this.
This channel is great. I think that if you have any advice on how it is possible to avoid rest setups and what to do when in the rest setups that would be awesome. I haven't played melee in over 2 months but still, I think it would be helpful.
Considering I’m a Falco main, I can pretty much guarantee you’ll get more Falco content in the future haha. Next weeks video will be part two of this series though

Ponch I actually think in terms of content, Puff is seriously underrepresented. Hopefully one day I know enough about those characters to make full videos but for now they’ll probably be featured more in smaller chunks when I’m talking about general pieces of advice
Hahaha, to be honest I don't know if you necessarily HAVE to jump, but I've found against falcon for example that I get it way more consistently when I jump, while as I don't find I need to jump vs Sheik.
yeah like basically every character that doesn't like hunch over you (marth sheik) jumping just makes it wayyyy better. Like sometimes i'm like "hm okay i ducked the grab but i'm not sure if i can rest" now i can just abandon that thought and just jump into the rest lol

I’d just need to collaborate with someone that’s a top 100 player, because I wanna be super sure the advice I’m giving is good! Obviously I played the character for years and have opinions on what her weaknesses are etc, but I just wanna be sure.
Lots of players have this problem starting out, especially if they’ve switched from a game where tap jump can be turned off. It’s basically what it sounds like! You just have to tilt the control stick upwards, without pushing it hard enough that it causes you to jump. This takes some getting used to, but it’s essential to work on because most characters up tilts are amazing (Fox, Falco, Marth, Sheik are all great examples)
little-vince my general advice is to look at all the setups I just showed you and ask how you could avoid them. For up-tilt and up-air rest, try to DI hard away when you get hit to make it hard to follow up, for up throw you wanna do the same thing. Learn how Puff gets the grabs in the first place so you’re ready to DI when she does. For jab reset, hit your techs. For rest OoS and CC avoid throwing out laggy moves, and if you do, space them far away so jigglypuff cant punish. For your recovery, mix in air dodges on stage, and use your characters various mixups to make it harder to punish.
Trying to avoid rest entirely is impossible, but it’s very doable to make it super difficult for Puff to actually get them in the first place, and if she does DI out so that you die quickly and can punish her!

Yeah, a large part of that was because I used motbob's every hbox rest videos to help me find clips, but also because it makes sense that most clips would be from the main puff in the scene. A lot of the clips in part two will not be Hbox though!
