Around 2010, a whole bunch of unused MIDI files were discovered inside a Windows 98 SE installation CD on Driver19.cab.[1] It's unknown exactly who composed these files or for what purposes, though at least one of them has been traced back to another composition featured inside some shareware games. It's possible that they're actually from a royalty free MIDI library, though for the safest bet I'll attribute them to Microsoft.
prtytime.mid is an upbeat tropical tune that I would imagine would've made very pleasant muzak for installing drivers back in 1998.

Which one of these was used in which shareware games? This is an interesting revelation. I would also agree that they likely came from some MIDI library, although given how many of these were a thing in the 90s it will probably not be easy to track down the source.
