Hi, this video is to help you with your Surface Book 2 keyboard should it suddenly stop charging and the GPU disconnects and reconnects. Assuming you have not damaged your keyboard another way and you have tried all the drivers firmware, this video details how I fixed my charging issue and battery issue and GPU frequent disconnect reconnects by changing the battery. The replacement battery is G3HTA049H so please use your favourite outlet to find one.

Any idea if the tablet only part of the Surface Book 2 will work with the Surface dock 2 ? I have a trashed base (coffee) and even if i take it apart successfully have no way to diagnose which parts are damaged. Microsoft repair policy is insane - Not bothered about the battery and GPU and the surface dock two and a bluetooth mouse and keyboard would be a way to get ports.

Thanks for this video. This "bo-da-boop, ba-da-beep" problem seems to be very common with the surface books, and in hindsight it is logical that it has to do with weak batteries. Typically it manifests later in the life of the computer, when the battery has significantly degraded. It seems that the firmware is ill equipped to deal with this configuration, and the problem leading to having no possibility to charge the battery, it can't be remedied. I have a suspicion that simple direct access to the battery connections could fix the problem, by force-charging the cells partially, so that the circuitry can again recognize the battery. It's just one more case of early (planned or not) obsolescence of a product that has been designed with VERY poor repairability. Manufacturers should really be held accountable for such poor designs. I have just gone through a lenghty session with a Microsoft rep, who attempted to remedy the problem by replaxing the driver responsible for the detach/attach process. It did zilch. Then he proposed to wipe the computer clean, which I refused to do. I am pretty sure that Microsoft is aware of the true nature of the problem (it being so common), but refuse to acknowledge it because they might be held liable.
@microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739
You can see they are making changes to address this in newer models but I don’t buy a computer for a year then swap it and even if I did it would be sold on so I’d expect a good 4/7 year usage with a cost effective way to fix them. I have a sb2 15” that has a phantom touch , works fine though on ubuntu so why can’t they release a driver to support these problems rather than sending to landfill

@@microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739 In the meantime I know a bit more. Apparently the microcontroller integrated on the battery's CB SHUTS DOWN the battery once it is deep-deep discharged. No way to revive the battery without connecting a programmer to the battery. That explains why exchanging the battery resolves the issue. You get access to a controller that hasn't yet decided to go on strike. One might call it sabotaging the function of their own product. I wonder how this will work for them in the long run...

Hey mate I have a similar issue, wondering if you have any thoughts? on my SB2 the base has stopped working i.e keyboard, trackpad, GPU, USB are not detected/working. However the battery still charges when plugged in AND passes through the charge to the clipboard battery. Furthermore if I connect a surface dock to the base it doesnt detect the USB through the dock either. Strangely enough the detach button works (the only key command that works on the keyboard) and will detach the clipboard to the base... I have tried every fix possible including a system restore and have spoken to MS support who say its a hardware fault and it requires a replacement base. Im considering opening it up to see if something's loose. Any thoughts on the matter? I really dont want to pay the replacement cost lol!!

What does powercfg/batteryreport snow? If it’s under warranty try and get it switched as it does sound like a hardware fault of some form.
