Great video Shane. And don't worry about the length, as for me - time flies when you enjoy :) Just pls for next time - move yourself to the other side of the screen so we can capture the magic you're doing there (e.g. when explaining about the multi choice field in adaptive card 18:25). Thanx 👍
@@ShanesCows with the deprecation of the Dynamics 365 connector, I have struggled to understand the new way to connect to our Dynamics CRM. I think it has to do with the environments, so my guess is that the CRM is in a different environment than my apps. Any pointers on what to see or read to better understand this? Thanks!
Good morning, Shane. Please could you help me with the following query. Is there a way to have a gallery with a collection of data from an excel file, in which I can massively assign data to a group in this gallery and that after assigning this resource to it, it no longer appears in the gallery as "pending assignment"? Thank you very much. Regards.
Hey Paul - That is possible but not a quick answer. Best advice I can offer is solve the problem in baby-steps. Work on assigning the Excel data first. Guessing that is going to involve ForAll, Patch, and understanding relationships. Then build from there.
Is there any way using the "For a selected message" trigger that I can dynamically change the adaptive card in that trigger so that an input field populates with the body of the message that was selected in the trigger? In our Teams tenant we have an app that you can access from the "More Actions..." menu called "Create Task" and when that item is chosen it pops up what looks like an adaptive card where the plain text of the message and the link to the message are pre-populated into an input field. I need to replicate this for our client and I'm wondering if this is a Power Automate solution or a PowerApp solution I should be using...any thoughts?
Hi Shane, this is a great video and very useful for what I do. It run perfectly when I add a reminder, but when one has not been added it produces an error in the ConverttoUTC. Is this because it is expecting a reminder? If so, how do I get it to ignore a null value?
After completing your To Do; how do you automatically flow it back down with a completed ✅ reply to your original Teams Chat message so that everyone in the chat can see that the message was assigned to someone & the To Do was completed? ✅
Hi Shane, your video is great and I have now different ideas to differently use Adaptive Cards in Teams. What I find weird is that it’s not possible in Power Automate to add checklist elements (sub-tasks). I even tried to update the tasks, but nothing. I hope Microsoft will update the connector in the future.
we have experimented with to do and we found we could add a "custom list" to to-do and in that list add the tasks (or as you call it sub tasks). It's 2 steps. Add the custom list, then add all the tasks. They do plan to merge to-do and planner into one solution very soon so I'm hoping that we can do more with that merger.
Let's talk about how sunburned your ears are. I recommend using SPF 50 Bananaboat sunscreen next time you find yourself outside. Apply liberally to the outside and inside of your ears, and don't forget the lobes. Many people ignore their ear lobes and regret it later in life. If you want to have nice, healthy ears, please take care of them. You only have two ears, don't abuse them.
Hi Shane, I have one query I have one bot deployed to teams channel and there are some adaptive card messages which are send by bot to the user. Now when I click on 3 dots and select my flow to run that adaptive card message details not captured in power automate flow and in content only attachment id comes. But it works fine when I create todo from text messages posted in ms teams chat. Hope you got my query.
Hi Shane, once again thank you for this video. But I'm still trying to get the original text from the teams app in the adaptive card. Example: User says "powerapps911 is awesome" in teams and then from the more options clicks on the flow item which opens the adaptive card. Can we pre fill "powerapps911 is awesome" in a text input? This message is then saved in a sharepoint list, which is the easy bit. But the challenging bit is pre filling that original text from teams. I will keep trying and any help from this forum will be much appreciated.
I have a similar requirement, in that I want to display a custom adaptive card when the user triggers a flow from a message. I can get part of the way there by leaving the initial card blank and from Flow adding an action to "post an adaptive card and wait for the response V2" bCk to the same channel. The problem is that this appears as the most recent message in the channel, and I can't find a way to delete it after the user has responded, so it will clutter up the chanel, may be answered by a different user, is not intuitive, etc... it will probably work for my scenario, but is not ideal. I had a peek at the code for the trigger, it includes as a parameter the json for the adaptive card, I wonder if it would be possible to create a custom trigger that does the same thing but with an extra call to the flow to provide the parameter at run time, but I don't think so, the webhook must be locked in when the flow is saved. Perhaps somebody who understands the app better would be able to answer this.
Actually, my thought was not as 'out there" as I feared. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/platform/messaging-extensions/how-to/action-commands/define-action-command states that if you are using an adaptive card, your messaging extension will be initially invoked to create and return a task module (which includes the adaptive card definition). The current 'for a selected message' trigger in Flow doesn't give you a chance to tamper with the json at run time, but it could. Hopefully there will be v2 of this trigger sometime that will do it!
Hi all, I added the original text in Teams in the Body of To-Do Tasks (outside of the Adaptive Card) and then I may add my notes to the body using the adaptive card. Let me know if can be a viable solution for you
@@davidemercadante2406 thanks for the tip. Will need to have a dummy to do list and then delete the to do item. Its a good workaround but hopefully there'll be an update from MS shortly.
Hi Shane, thanks for sharing that... one question... if you build the power automate you can assign the to-do to you only. You can't put it in Nicola's To-do task list can you? She would need to have that Power Automate process herself. Is that right? I also see that MS is combining ToDo and Planner this fall so looking forward to seeing what they do with that...hopefully bigger, better, etc..
@@ShanesCows Sorry I should have said more - in our case we want to create the to-do based on a created/modified trigger to a sharepoint list therefore PA would always have to listen to the actions on everyone's credential if we did that. I'm not sure how much of a "system hit" that is, so we had assumed someone would build it for the team and we'd just have one instance "listening" and then that routine would assign the to-do based on the value of a people field in the list. We have done some research and we think we can achieve this using Planner instead through the Graph API. Different product with a similar intent. Just a bit more complicated as it's Graph. Should I worry about the "system hit" if everyone had a team ultimately checking the same SP List and then we add a condition is the "people field" = "me" then add it to my list. We only 15 people on my team but still I had thought that was considered bad authoring?
Good Day Shane, First, let me thank you for the valuable content and the way you deliver the materials. I have one question, THe flow runs flawlessly with my account, but when I shared this flow with my colleague as "Run Only User" and he provided all permissions and connections, I get an error when he runs the flow from Teams. Any idea of how to share this with my teammates (Action 'Add_a_to-do_(V2)_2' failed)
Hi Shane, thank you for the video, I found it very helpful. I was wondering if there is a way to present the users with a dropdown that will list their existing To-do lists within the Adaptive card. Basically the aim would be for the user to be able to add the new task in one of their existing To-do lists from within the Teams pop-up instead of opening To-do and adding it to another list. Considering someone with a number of lists, it would be preferable to present the user's lists as an option instead of asking for him to type in the name of the list (which would also create an issue if the list doesn't exist).
@@ShanesCows And the GIANT elephant in the room is exposed. This technology is all based on the team living in the same tenant and M$'s business model doesnt have room for non payers outside the tenant. They will blame it on security issues but those have to be solvable. As much as i love this tech it just wont work in my ecosystem... A huge fundamental design blunder IMO
Thanks for the great videos Shane! One Question: I have seen that SP List added a new Image Column recently. Do you know if it is possible to use this in PowerApps?
Nice explanation. Terrible positioning of your video-in-video though. Half the time there is nothing to display on the left hand side bottom corner but still we are frequently missing the mouse action or part of your activity behind your frame. Too bad because very good explanation. Keep it up!
