This is hands down the best country song of the year and one of best songs I’ve ever heard. Just absolutely haunting. Heard it on Brandi Carlile’s SiruisXM show and just can’t stop listening to it. I really hope you have a long, long career Adeem. This is up there with John Prine’s “Sam Stone.”
My favorite song from the album. As a military vet and seeing so many fellow servicemember's struggles and passings, this hits home and is reflective of the experiences of a U.S. servicemember. I'm glad to have come across your music and look forward to seeing you live when I can 😁
I saw this love Saturday and it had me crying. So brilliant against the irreverence of the rest of the set, which was also amazing. This is what country music should be.
I've listened to this song hundreds of times and it still brings tears to my eyes. Beautiful and haunting. I think I prefer this live version, especially when you sigh after "Mama, do you think you still believe, I'm gonna see the face of God?" So so powerful.
Adeem, I heard this on WAF and fell in love. Tom T "Hero in Harlan", Prine "Sam Stone", Eric Bogle "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda".....amazing songs about service....."Middle of The Heart" stands shoulder to shoulder with those classics!! Keep writing great songs. From Australia.
A lot of people missed what the veteran did.... I discovered you when Anthony fantano mentioned you on the H3 podcast. I love your music so much. "Reclaim the name" was so powerful!
Here from Somewhere Over the Radio with Brandi and Catherine Carlile❤ Man I am so glad Brandi introduced me to you! I’ve been playing your music on repeat for the last couple days 🌈
Adore this song and was touched by the cozy, sweet, gentle video. I love your work, Adeem. Your ability to tell a story through a song is unlike anything else.
You killed it in reading. I'm a urban fella and I really enjoyed your performance. Tbh it's the first time I really listened to country music and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Saw you live today opening for Josh Ritter. Your music is incredible. I've been going through some tough times and your music helps me know I am not alone. Thanks.
My wife and I saw you open up for American Aquarium in Asheville last year and were blown away with the lyricism. This album only confirms how fantastic of a songwriter you are. Thank you for more great music ❤️
As a long-time (> half a century) music nerd and former music journalist, I have listened to A TON of songs in my lifetime. This is one of the best written songs I've heard since John Fullbright broke on the scene. Can't wait to see you at Moccasin Creek Music Festival in Effingham, IL in June. I'll be the crazy old lady telling you how great you are. Steve Poltz is also playing MCF. Make sure to check him out -- he's another master songwriter as well as a great performer.
You sing this song about the sacrifice of service members as if you understand what they go through to try to protect the country and freedoms you enjoy, but then in other songs you disparage the same country and patriotism. It feels like you are pandering and hypocritical
I don’t disparage my country. Be curious to know where you see me doing that. I do offer valid criticism. I reckon you do too, cowboy. Also, I do disavow patriotism as it is not a value that I believe has any utility in the world to come. That’s something I learned from Christianity.
