So... the fused shadow was made to harness the power of the triforce? And broke pretty quickly once the triforce of wisdom left it. Maybe the fused shadow was meant to recombine a split triforce, as the Twili's ancestors knew they were unbalanced (too much wisdom, compared to the other two pieces)
Midna is definitely my favourite character of the entire series and she’s one of the reasons why twilight princess was my favourite Zelda game (until botw happened). I really want to see her again in another game but I doubt it’ll happen. Zelda needs more amazing side characters.
Jaspersamuel Midna and Groose are probably my favorite side characters. (Although ST and BotW Zeldas are pretty fantastic and sorta fill that Companion slot somewhat. KingK’s analysis of ST Zelda is fantastic, even though her game is...clunky.) I also really liked Irene from LBW. Her dialogue gets a bit canned for both Hyrule and Lorule since I tend to fast travel A LOT, but I genuinely miss her once she’s kidnapped, and find her dialogue hilarious. Plus, she kinda gives us insight into the Sages being genuinely homesick and stircrazy while they’re stuck in the Sacred Realm post-rescue until the end credits. (She’s basically Oracles Maple, but with some actual character development beyond being Link’s clumsy rival with an inferiority complex. Irene instead KNOWS she’s talented but still learning, and comes across as smug vs showboating. And unlike Maple, Irene actually has a good relationship with her grandmother/mentor, and is eager to get back to her studies after flying Link to wherever he’s demanding to go next. Which...yeah some of those places I could’ve walked instead to get that maimai or heartpiece but...yeah, I kinda earned her snark for that.)
Jacinta Capelety ...not really, no...no more than Cadence of Hyrule tbh, although both look fun. (I’m not even sure that Triforce Heroes should be Canonical vs FunSpinoff, but y’know)

Midna is a MAJOR character, and arguably TP is just as much her story as it is Link’s...but she isn’t the MC/Protagonist simply because the player plays as Link and the story still centers on Link’s Hero’s Journey.

You can go further with this theory in the ending. We only see Midna again after Ganondorf has been killed, the Triforce of Power visibly fading from his hand, and Midna is shown continuing to survive in the restored Light Realm, outside of a building. The Triforce Pieces go to whoever values and embodies their respective attributes most... so without Ganondorf, it's quite likely that piece of the Triforce, the Power she was chasing all game, went to Midna herself.

If Midna knew she had it, then its likely she could have done way more than she already did (including breaking her own curse). I'd wager Zelda assumed Midna would connect the dots herself that she would I heritage the Triforce, but Midna was so focused on the Fused Shadow it never occured to her.
Link of Ordon going in a journey to look for his Partner? Sound familiar... Will he find himself in Termina too? Midna holding the triforce of wisdom to be able to withstand the Light makes complete sense. Also...it’s heavily implied that the triforce for Light Dwellers transforms them into Divine Beasts instead of shadow demons or spirits. Which...Zelda doesn’t take on a Beast Form in the Twilight, and then her body randomly turns up at the end of the game? So, maybe GanonZant pulled a SpiritTracks and separated Zelda’s soul from her body and just chose not to try taking Zelda’s piece. Ganondorf also didn’t exactly have any reason to possess Zelda until the BossRush, either. Which, that’d make Zelda and Ganondorf both having Triforce Ghost Forms more or less that are essentially carried by their pieces. And after Zelda’s Soul returns to her body, Midna’s still fine which isn’t anything to do with the Fused Shadows (especially since Ganondorf later destroys them, and Midna’s seen afterward in her true form), which probably has more to do with the time of day and storm clouds? But...maybe not. Midna’s completely fine when she returns to the Twilight Realm for good...when it’s High Noon in Full Sun in a reflective desert. Yeahhh...TP still has some major plotholes tbh. - - - - ...I’m still salty about Zelda’s “tactical surrender” as the plot shows that it literally *didn’t* save anyone as Rutella’s still murdered with the Zora Mostly Dead, Kakariko’s completely ravaged, if Impaz had anyone living in her village they’re dead too, Ordon Kids&Ilia kidnapped and abandoned for giggles, the Fused Shadows acting up (evidenced by the Gorons, possibly the bokoblins leaving the Forest Temple and capturing the monkeys? As idk Eat Monkeys Not Us to the massive dekubaba?), and Castle Town suffering a sudden and severe drought with their only drinking water being imported from hotsprings in another province Which, yeah I’d probably fall into a depression, too, after screwing up *that badly* BUT...Zelda didn’t even try. It’s heavily hinted (and supported by this video) that Zelda was already a fully realized Triforce Wielder and Mage yet...she holed up in her thrownroom despite being a powerhouse. At the very least (supported by her Literally Summoning a Pocket Dimension) she could have put up a Barrier around CastleTown and buckled down for a Seige until the Triforce of Courage Wielder arrived to tip the balance out of a stalemate-she would’ve at least saved Someone. And she at least had enough forewarning to have a pretty sizable force inside her throne room. Which...IF Zant kept his side of the Deal and left Greater Hyrule alone if Zelda surrendered and allowed her body&soul to be separated, then it might be Tactical. Buuut...again, no one was saved and actually suffered the same or worse fates to outright dying in battle, and she actually had the ability to DO something. ...because...remember Midna’s salt both in that initial meeting and during Bossroom Calms? She’s pretty frustrated with Zelda being born to leadership but...not having the experience to Actually Lead.
This Zelda could very well be a pretty inexperienced and weak iteration tbh. She oversaw a time of relative peace until Zant showed up, and this particular Hyrule is in addition shown to be in decline to an extent. Could be that this Zelda was a weak ruler.
This is was an awesome theory! Makes me wish I was able to play Twilight Princess! I really hope they release a remake on the Switch. Speaking of theories, a friend of mine and I had a discussion that even though the Triforce was created by the goddesses, only Link, Zelda and Ganondorf were given each piece. And since Ganondorf was evil and abused the Triforce of Power, people assume that part of the Triforce is inheriently evil. But is it really? I mean, Din is the Goddess of Power, but she wasn't evil. Do you think maybe...just maybe...that the Triforce of Power wasn't a gift...but was stolen by Ganondorf or even Demise? If that's the case, could it be possible that someone can be given the Triforce of Power, but they have good intentions?
I agree and this was sort of hinted at in Ocarina of Time. Ganondorf had no piece of the TF, then he broke into the sacred realm to obtain the full triforce but it broke appart and then he suddenly had the Triforce of Power, strongly suggesting he stole it from the sacred realm as the triforce came appart

If the Triforce of Power was meant for evil purposes, why would having a perfect balance of all three virtues of the Triforce as well as having a good heart the qualities needed to make a wish? It was not hinted or suggested. Ganondorf DID stole the Triforce piece from the Sacred Realm. This is stated very clearly in Ocarina of Time. Of course his intetion was to stole the whole relic, but since he did't had a balanced heart he kept only the piece that matched with the virtue he most believed on (Power). But in the end, yea.. Ganondorf just took his own piece by force. Differently from Zelda and Link, who were chosen by the Goddesses (or destiny, or the Triforce itself).
He opened the bottom half of his mask to talk to Midna, exposing his mouth/face. So yes, he did. Plus, Midna was also technically wearing "armor" in the form of the fused shadow hat, so clearly armor isn't what protects them from the light.

I always thought that Lanaryu was the one who saved Midna and Link before Zant could kill them. They were warped in front of the castle but since it was a light spirit it was poisoinous to Midna.
Another theory, wouldn't Midna inherit the triforce of power? Since the twili select there leaders based on strength and Midna is the current ruler? Just a thought
That spider like beast form of Midna while usimg the fused shadow reminds me of the guardians.....not only because they are both metal spider like beings but there is more desighn wise wich reminded me of them. For example the top and the shape in general. The one eye aldough it would be a bit far to use that as similarity.
I don't think a pyramidal barrier is at all emblematic of Triforce - Magic. We've seen a pyramidal barrier used twice elsewhere in the series, to my knowledge. In the FSA, the barrier set around Ganon and the Four Sword is pyramidal in shape but was made by the Seven Maidens. We also see a pyramidal barrier around Ganon in UNOFFICIAL art for the Imprisoning War of LttP made by the Seven Sages. Let's also not neglect the fact that the barrier in TP clearly isn't pyramidal, it's a 6 sided figure. I don't know what that would be called, but it's not a pyramid. Also there's no support to your claims that the Fused Shadows was used to harness the Triforce. It just as likely was some weapon of mass destruction that gave the Interlopers tremendous edge in their war for the Triforce. I certainly see it as very possible Midna was given the Triforce of Wisdom as we never see it separate from Zelda upon death like as we've seen it done to Ganon, though Ganon was reduced to ash. I don't see how a pile of ash could contain a Triforce piece anyhow without fragmenting it (which clearly doesn't happen). Zelda still had a body after all. The Triforce easily could have rested inside her. Though it would be strange that Ganondorf, who clearly was able to totally control and warp Zelda, wouldn't have taken her Triforce piece. I think this point alone supports the idea that Midna really did inherit the fragment. EDIT: I did find another piece of art for Link to the Past depicting the Seven Sages creating a pyramidal barrier, this time it WAS canon! Still this would seem to imply it's a Sagely/Maiden kind of magic.
He puppets her body for the Light Force which yet courses through her veins, a la Minish Cap and Spirit Tracks. Perhaps it's what let him put up the barrier, as the sage's seal in Link to the Past's artwork seems to be the direct inspiration for which, also done through amplified Light Force.
It’s ironic because we “thought” Zelda was the Twilight Princess but then Midna receives the power of the Tri-Force and we learn that she is the Twilight Princess. There’s some kind of literary tool being used here but I don’t know what to call it.
Seeing Zelda save Midna, I'd always assumed that she did so by entrusting her with what was protecting her from being affected by the Twilight: her Triforce of Wisdom. Midna had certainly shown growth, it wouldn't be hard to believe she could handle it.
Another piece of evidence towards Midna temporarily holding and wielding the Triforce of Wisdom is that, while she breaks the barrier Ganondorf put around Hyrule Castle, the barrier didn't appear until after Zelda was gone. Zelda's very presence in the castle was keeping Ganondorf from sealing it off and it's Midna, after Zelda's disappearance and very possibly wielding the Triforce of Wisdom without knowing it, who breaks that seal.

I want to take the time while it's fresh and clear in my mind. Thank you very much for making these videos. I'm a Long Time Zelda fan. I first played the original legend of Zelda when I was 12 years old. I'm currently 47. I played all the Zelda games with the exception of the small ones that were like on the DS or game boy. As I have grown in life the Zelda games have been a part of it. And my son who is 13 is a Big Time Zelda fan and we play the games together. You and the Hyrule gamer are one of the major RU-vid channels that covers all the content and I just want to say I really enjoy it and I appreciate you man.

Playing nearly every Zelda game is an amazing achievement, and you should be extremely proud that you and your son play Zelda together - that's not something I ever had growing up and that sounds so special. damn i LOVE TP SO MUCH and it makes a LOT of sense. At first i thought the fused shadows were taking control over midna and i was actually going to fight her and i was like "wait- is this.. bad? hmm.. this seens ba- NO NO NO no.. please no dont make me fight midna"
There is another possibility. With the triforce of wisdom it is possible that Midna transported them outside knowing she had to buy them time. And at the lost of the fused shades hid in plain sight till the time was right.
Small addendum: Zant did execute Queen Rutella of the Zora people. I personally think Zant and Midna's abilities to traverse the realm of light come from being infused with Zelda and Ganondorf's powers, but if simply taking the essence of a light dweller was all they needed to do so, Zant did have at least one confirmed kill.
An extra point to the theory is the Triforce of Courage is the reason Link is turned into a Wolf instead of a spirit in the Twilight blanketed Hyrule, so the Triforce of Wisdom performing the opposite effect on Midna makes sense.
I noticed that the Zelda fandom just grew ten tons thanks to Breath of the Wild, too. I even told my friends that; "When some people think of Guardians, they think of spider bois, but when I think of them, it's something much more traumatic." Referring to Skyward Sword. It makes me a little sad, though, knowing that there are a lot of other amazing, beautifully made Zelda games out there, and probably half of us don't even know their beauty.
That is an interesting idea that Zelda parted with her Triforce of Wisdom and passed it on to Midna. I don't know my Zelda lore well enough to know if that is even possible but I entertained the idea that we see Ganondorf "die" and the Triforce of Power vanishing from his hand at the end. I had a crazy idea that maybe, just maybe, it was passed on to Midna by the end after everything she had been through and how powerful she could be. But that is most likely wishful thinking on my part because I would have loved to see her make another appearance someday. Anyhow I love the video on perhaps my favorite Zelda character of all time!
For a theory, this sounds less like a theory, and more like the most logical explanation. Yeah this is no more a theory then the theory of gravity is "just a theory" I'm convinced that Midna definitely had the triforce of wisdom.

I mean, it makes sense. But if Midna has the triforce of wisdom, then does that mean when Zelda gets her body back she wouldn't have the triforce anymore? And if so, then how do future Zelda's get it?
I personally believe that the Fused Shadow is the Majora's Mask or at the very least what it became. I think that the Happy Mask Salesman was actually one of the Dark Interlopers and was on a journey to find the Majora's Mask so that it could be used to break his brothers and sisters out of the Twilight Realm. Once the mask was gained the Interlopers could use it's great power to rebuild it for a different purpose. This also explains why Midna equipped with it kind of looks like the Mask in the final battle with tentacle arms coming out from it.
3rd bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom. Link has had it in several games including the original where Link collects the pieces of Wisdom before going against Ganon.
I can just say, as someone who LOVES the Twilight Princess game... I had to install an emulator for Gamecube, play the game all over agian, just to try a little funny "cheat" trick against the final 1v1 with Ganondorf... I laughed, hysterically... at the fact that yes, indeed, the Fishing Pole... distracts him enough to get in a couple of free blows!!! "Fishing for Ganondorf" trick, works!
I’m 34 and the first Zelda I played was link to the past, I beat it a lot of times and will play it every once in awhile. The next Zelda game I played (beside Gameboy ones) was twilight princes, I think I was 20 or 21 years old. I don’t know why but I get more nostalgia from seeing twilight princess. I love everything about the game, I wish they’d remaster it or make some reference to midna or the twilight realm
I always thought that Midna was given the Triforce of Wisdom and that's why Zelda vanished; the Triforce was keeping her "separate" from her body, which was sealed away. And it's why she vanishes, too. If the thing that was powering the action taken is removed, then the action fails. Or something. I dunno, I never really thought all that hard about it.
Well, this wraps up pretty much every question I had about this topic tbh. People can complain about Midna surviving after Zelda was back, but they forget that Midna had fully adopted the Fused Shadow's power into herself. It isn't much of a leap to assume the very relics the Twili used to invade would let them walk around unharmed in Light.
I would say the Fused Shadow could be considered the shadow/reflection of the Tri-force. It could also be the decayed state of Lorule's Triforce (between worlds). Or the corrupted triforce that ganon obtains previosly to the events in A Link to the Past. The idea of duality has always been present in zelda (both Link and Demise has similar swords). So having it be a dark/decayed/corrupted versión of the Triforce would make sense.
Midna TOTALLY had the Triforce of wisdom she even mentions after she kills Zant and surprises herself that she can return the cherished power ZELDA bestowed upon her.
Here is my take on things (spoilers) Midna did not use the triforce on zant, we have seen here perform massive strength feets with just one fused shadow. And not to mention, the Triforce of power is the only triforce actually capable of enhancing strength feats, whereas the Triforce of wisdom and courage enhance, well, wisdom and courage. You are right however that Zant and Midna both received pieces of the Triforce. I think that the Triforce of wisdom made midna permanently immune to the light as she was in light after she gave Zelda's soul back, and the same probably goes for Zant. Zant however, kept his piece of the Triforce after death so when Ganon tried to revive himself he ended up calling Zant for power and because Zant knew that Ganon had been using him as a pawn so he denied the request for the rest of the Triforce (Thats what the neck snapping scene symbolizes). Ganon had 2 thirds of the Triforce of power, and Zant (probably) trained him how to use shadow magic as he is seen doing Twilight magic. Midna just had shadow magic and the Triforce of wisdom (which as we said earlier doesn't effect strength feats), and since Ganon was using part of the 2/3rds of the Triforce of power to keep himself alive, her power was able to break the barrier. However when she fought Ganon as he was reforming, she was fighting every bit of Ganon's essence AND his shadow magic AND his 2/3rds of the Triforce enhancing his essence and Twilight magic. What probably happened is that Ganon just absorbed the energy she threw at him, which Ganon can do, and threw it back but enhanced by the Triforce of power.
Wait a second... if Zelda physically faded when she transferred her essence and power to Midna... how is she seen again afterwards with a full-on body _for_ Ganon to possess? We don't actually see her body collapse soulless on the floor... Doesn't she just fade?! But then suddenly she's back for that fight and beyond... Am I missing something?!
I actually really like this. Im currently making a Zelda comic and in the writing process and I would love to add this theory to the story as the Past Links and Zeldas do come into play.
Another point I would make is that Midna's spear she uses in the scenes with the prism and Ganondorf is similar in design to Zelda's light arrows, a product of the Triforce of Wisdom. Whereas the Fused Shadow's primary weapon is dark magic and could be manifested in the hands themselves, the light weapons could arguably come from a holier source, i.e. the Triforce.

Can we try and figure out what the full Triforce flashing on Zelda’s hand as she waved it past wolf link means? It shines on the bottom right piece which I believe corresponds with courage as she hold it to link but as she moved her hand from his stomachs to his head the middle piece of the Triforce the part that is either black or see through glows before receding onto the bottom right piece of courage again when her hand ends at his head. Part of me thinks this is to tell us that at Links heart is the person capable to wield the Triforce but in his head and body he believes he can only embody courage. I think that’s also why both Zelda and Ganon die in this game, midna might still have the Triforce at the end of the game but in my opinion I think they put the powers within link but since his source of power isn’t like ganon or Zelda on and off switch for their powers, I think the Triforce just laid dormant within the one most capable of wielding it’s power but it just so happened to be the same guy who doesn’t know he has it or just doesn’t really care that he has it. Links always been the type of guy to do things because someone is in trouble or is in need of help not because he plans to lead a nation or to command an army.
I am not sure if Zelda gave Midna the triforce of wisdom but it makes sense. I am pretty sure the triforce does protect its owner in some capacity. Not sure where I got it from but one of the games mentions it. So if that is the case then it would be exactly why Ganon could possess Zelda when in most other games he has to incapacitate her in some way. Usually he tries to drain or steal the triforce from her.
Awesome theory. I'd like to say that the Triforce of Wisdom alone didn't help Midna destroy the barrier around Hyrule Castle, though, and that it was a combined effort of both the Triforce of Wisdom AND the Fused Shadow. Without the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf is a pretty powerful being in his own right. But with his own power combined with the Triforce of Power, he's a force to be reckoned with. It would have taken the combined power of both the Triforce of Wisdom & the Fused Shadow to have destroyed his barrier. Without the ToW, the Fused Shadow paled in comparison to Ganondorf's own power & the power the ToP granted him. Maybe if Ganondorf didn't have the ToP's power enhancing his own then the Fused Shadow might have given Ganondorf more trouble.
