Alright, trailer will be released Very soon i promise :) probably like After my periodical test which is 2 days left disclaimer: i dont own the Music nor the video. all rights belong to the creator and producer
My favorite part was when the dauntlesses blasted freebird while divebombing japanese ships. It was a historical event that turned the tide of the battle.
My favorite thing with Midway was people saying the scene with Bruno Gaido jumping in a plane and using the tail gun to shoot at a suiciding Japanese bomber was "unrealistic" and "Hollywood" yet it 100% happened and Gaido got a promotion directly from Admiral Halsey for having such balls.
@@user-999v2No they’re just people who’ve never read into more obscure history lmfao, you don’t have to serve in the military to know your historical events 💀
There hasn't been a conflict in human history as ballsy as World War 2, ever before or since. The amount of sheer unrequited ballsiness to dive vertically in an aircraft directly into explosive artillery fire and drop bombs while flying at like 260 miles an hour has not been seen since. WW2 soldiers were absolutely incredible. Build different, without a doubt.
Well I'll disagree. Going face to face with a man in a sword fight was a whole different level of savagery. You felt when the sword dealt the death blow. You heard his pain and screams. WW2 soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines had balls of steel for sure. But stabbing a guy was a different level of savagery. I'll ask that you look at the Battle of Alesia and see what the Romans and Celts did and what was accomplished it was savagery and impressive. And didn't occur at 260mph
Did you know? To achieve maximum realism, the director of the movie actually used live ammo and explosives on his actors, there weren't any second takes of the scenes
I went to Midway and met a man who was a plane captain on the Hornet. For Torpedo 8. Anyone who knows about Midway knows what that means. Thank you for giving these heroes some love!
original score was supenseful, anxious, unsure of what will happen - and the results of failing, if they don't succeed. free bird on the other hand gives off pure fuck it we ball energy and I love it lmao
I thought the movie was inaccurate, now I see that the reason not many of the Dauntless’ were shot down was because they were blasting free bird. It all adds up now.
@@agentsus9681 Most by Zeros though. Naval RU-vidr Drachinifel mockingly called the carrier Batltestar Kaga for the massive volume of flak shown in the movie. (Along with moments like 0:07, where there are more Yamato class battleships in the shot than were ever build, and none were in this fleet.)
@@bificommander7472 True, Japanese AA was actually notoriously lacking in WW2 and most carriers were dependent on their CAP to protect them from aircraft. The fact that Thatch managed to keep the Zeroes preoccupied in a way previously unheard of to the Japanese was a significant factor to opening up the carriers to attack.
@@chad-thundercock Next to no realism, in this very scene you can see that. Theres no way a plane diving straight down will take 2-3 minutes to reach its target
@@samarkand1585 ACTUALLY there is only about 20-30 seconds of rough footage of them diving, which is cut in and out of, so who is to say, on top of the 20-30 seconds, where each segment starts and the previous ends. The SBD Dauntless dove from about 8,000+ feet, and with dive brakes deployed, which you can see that they are in the footage, they would be diving at a speed of about 260 mph. 260 mph is 380 feet per second, 8000 feet divided by 380 feet per second is 21 seconds, SO YES INCLUDING THE 20 SECOND LONG DIVE. THANKS FOR ASKING.
Fun fact, when the dive bombers attacked the carriers at Midway, the planes on board were switching their armaments from incendiaries to attack the Midway Island with to the AP bombs used against ships Imagine it, all those bombs outside the main magazine, laid about as workers are handling them Next thing a bomb plummets through numerous decks and no one has time to register the fireball
Police: Sir, you were going 369 miles in a school zone. Me: Bro, you ruined my moment. Police: And why is that? Me: The Freebird solo was playing. Police: Oh sorry, you can continue. Me: So long sucker! Starts drifting
A docent on the Hornet museum at Alameda was a tail gunner on a dive bomber at Midway, most of the rest of the tour listened for a minute to him (I think to most he was just a friendly old man) then moved on but I stayed to hear all he had to say. He said on the way down in their dive the planes were so close to each other you could almost reach out and touch the others just as it shows here.
Japanese POV: "The Americans coordinated a two-pronged attack after our aerial escorts left our carriers defenseless! Impossible! They weren't supposed to possess such tactical genius!!" American POV: "Fuck... We got lost... Let's go north and see what happens... Huh. There's the Japanese fleet... And there's our boys! What a nice coincidence!"
The Japanese lost 4 Fleet carriers in total during this battle. That is staggering! When the Japanese returned to harbor in Japan their accompanying media people were quarantined for a month to keep the news of the disaster from the Japanese population.
Even these days the vast majority of navies don't even have 1 carrier. Losing 4 at a time of war, when raw materials are already scarce, 70 years ago would be more devastating in magnitude.
@@Lekirius Yes. The Japanese absolutely lost the war at the conclusion of this battle. They were never on the offense again. Some say they suicides when the first bomb hit Pearl Harbor. The Japanese managed to build 3 carriers during the war following this battle. The United States built a total of 64 escort and fleet carriers. The Japanese climbed into the ring with Uncle Sam, and got annialated to a degree that made God himself turn his head from the sight of it.
Whats worse than losing 4 carriers is that of the entire aircrafts of various type carried by these 9 carriers *and* their base on Guam island were completely destroyed with like 3 dozens or so making it home, effectively making all but 1 carrier left in a barely functional state to fight the war Hence their tactic changed to kamikaze to make the most out of the newbies and their planes
Part of what helped those pilots dive so well was the weight of the massive balls it took on runs like this. That adrenaline rush must have been beyond anything most can imagine
"Sir what do we do?" "There is nothing we can do.." *freebird plays* "What do you mean sir?" "They are playing freebird,we can't shoot them" "Why? " "Free bird gives them *plot armor* " "Oh damn"
“DUDE CMON GO UP UP UP WE ARE GONNA DIE- WHAT ARE YOU DOING WHAT IS THIS SONG-“ “trust me like you did in 4th grade when I said I was gonna handle the bully, will you?”
The funny thing is that’s a massive inaccuracy in this movie m. Japan AA was terrible and no where near this level. That’s a warships level of AA. Because only the Americans were that gung-ho.
I encourage anyone watching to read up on the actual battle of midway. Reality can be crazier than fiction and the sheer bravery of the us airmen on that day astounds me.
@@ZeroScotland they do have a somewhat effective multi purpose cannon that can do AA (atleast for the flak quality at the time) well enough but that one is infamous for quickly ruining the barrel and it only exists on some destroyers
Pov : me trying to defeat 2 battleships and 3 cargo ships by just 1 p40 plane in just 5 minutes 💀(in wing of steel it's very hard to aim and drop the bombs)
