@@robflyrc I commented that because I saw books about soviet fighters and MiG-23 has always this appearance, thanks for your comment I ignored this is a restored one, R.
I'm a big fan of MiG aircraft. They're incredibly beautiful and seemingly agile. What I don't understand is why so many of them get shot down, especially air to air with the Americans?
How about the mig-23 sucks...large strike bombers like the F-111 can out turn it....or how about when you sit inside the cockpit of a mig-23 you cant really see much outside.
About the MIG combat records being shite. Well, Mig 15 or Mig 21 had a excelent combat record when flown by Russian or some of their competent allies like the Vietnamese. The problem with Migs is that they were often being flown by incompetent third world allies against the Americans or Israelis. But for Mig standers the 23 was shite. Too complex for a Mig, too unmaneuverable for a MIg. And like the Americans with the F 4, their designers put too much emphasis is umature electronics at the expense of agility. MIG ended with a heavy, complex fighter with mediocre electronics (even worse in the export versions) and poor visibility. Most Mig 23 pilots who were shot down didnt even realized they were under fire. The Mig 29 has a return to form in the agility deparment, but still lacking in eletronics were the west gained a significant advantage in the 70s, 80s and 90s with the computer revolution.
Scott, you are looking in the wrong place. Iraqis used the Mig-23 successfully against the Iranians in the 1980-1988 war. The only trouble it had was against the F-14 which was a much more advanced aircraft but even so couple of Iranian F-14s got shot down by Iraqi Mig-23s. It had no such problems against the F-5 and F-4 which they shot down many.
@@ricardosoto5770 The Russians got beaten very badly when they flew combat missions against Israelis in 1967 over Egypt, so that disproves the myth of Soviets having better pilots than her allies. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Rimon_20
@@USB740 Russian pilots were more disciplined, skilled at night or bad weather flying and agressive that arab pilots, but unlike the arabs, they had no experience fighting a real enemy in the air since the Korean War. Arabs though of them as arrogant know nothings. They came to advice the arabs on how to fight the israelis, as they were not fighting them for decades. And often blamed equipment failures on arab operators. Eventually Israeli Mirages taught them a lesson. Since may israelis are for russian jewish descent (about 2 millon if I recall), they even taunted the Russians in russian. But the russian crewed Mig 21 did a good job against israeli F 4s and A 4s. But there were not russian crewed Mig 23 in the middle east, they were not dumb.
Because it was bought in Russia and most of Russian aircraft export versions was in Russian language. Some countries decided to put descriptions on instrument panel in their native language.
И у них есть наши самолёты, а у нас не одного из парка НАТО нет, ни фантома, ни Миража, ни чегоооо в частных руках, позорище! страна дундуков, коррупционеров, грабителей, зэка и нищих. Еще раз тьфу!
