I’m curious now!? With the Mig29 and all of its glory being added, why are more countries not getting better jets AND, the 16 not getting AMRAAMs? People like to say it’s for keeping balance, however this ain’t going to do that at all.

@@bluemarble5338 the amraam would be so incredibly overpowered everything else would be void, amraams in combat have an estimated 80% kill rate, if you team didnt have f16s 80% of you team just vanishing wouldn't be fun (or balanced but lets be real gaijin doesn't give a fuck) at all, however the f16 not even having aim7s doesn't make the slightest sense, as while yes the f16 wasn't designed for the capability to carry them during the gulf war f16s did carry aim7s as the ammraam wasn't available yet

@@kajmak64bit76 the R73 LOOK super easy to flare, then there's the R-27. I think best course of action is to give the F-16 HMMD and 2 AIM7. Move both aircrafts to 12.0 or 12.3

@@jessegm1 well they gave us naval ec and heli pve. They also added EC maps to air rb so they do give us some of what we ask for. Its always phoned-in though. But they're probably going to wind up giving us some form of Air RB EC. They dont really have a choice with the more modern planes.

Wt is anything but realistic. Dcs is a far more fair representation of russian aircraft and their capabilities. Unlike this games heavy bias.

@@2.Cuzzzz the Gripen doesn't exactly have the actual combat record that the F-15 does, but it hasn't been around as long either. I know it does very well in the Red Flag exercises they've participated in. I was always very fond of the Viggen as well.

Also the real plane had a 4.5-5.5 g limit if it had the center tanks mounted and they always had them mounted because without the center tank, the MiG-29 just a point defense fighter, take off, go to where the ground intercept controller tells you to go, at the throttle setting and altitude he tells you. Launch when he tells you, then go home.

What? The P5 is only a slightly modified P with the IRCCM found in the L variant, and mainly used for export. Wouldn't be better than what we currently have, the AIM-9L is arguably the closest western missile to the R-73. R-27T is a bigger problem for WT I'd say.

@@jfv2312 Sorry, my only experience is from DCS where the R-73 is WAY better, larger warhead, less susceptible to flares etc. I have not done research, just stating what I have seen from the most realistic combat sim. Not trying to be rude.

So the 16A you guys are getting almost certainly wont have an HMD, these only came after like ~~1990-2001, by the time the block 50 C was around doing work in the middle east that incentivized a better combat suite for A/G, which the HMD greatly helps with, right alongside A/A. You guys are getting the OG 16 that was all about turn and burn, an extremely A/A oriented machine, which WT won't reflect really at all in all game modes because its warthunder and that's fine. The Russians, counter to America, went along an upgraded IR sensor suite, which is why you see IRSTs on almost all their planes, which outdates Americas IRST sensors, and counter to that, America has extremely potent Radar systems integrated into their jets, which typically Russians don't, and didn't at this current time period, but after the F15 proved itself in BvR and all of the theory of shoot before the merge, Russia started to lean towards better Radars alongside their thermal sensors, but at this point have a lot of catching up to do before they master it like America really has, and likewise America still hasn't really taken an interest in the IRST sensor, even though they probably should, they have never felt the need. This said, that IRST sight is why these things say you can "lock on" at many KM away, because the IRST can see the jet, and the seeker head of the missile can slave to that, but probably not get an actual lock. Russia has mastered that system and built ye old reliable R73, which is like the Toyota of off bore TV short range Fox 2s. Always there, always reliable, pretty old, and generally nothing super special. Counter to this, America more recently invested in the AIM9X, which is technically the counter to the R73 but only because it can thrust vector like the Archer, however its still not integrated with an IRST system since all the jets its deployed with rarely have one. That's the history in a nutshell, and if I had two cents about it, its _extremely_ unlikely gaijin will reflect this accurately, or even the parts they could replicate accurately. I only say that because they _botched_ the TWS/Phoenix Fox 3 system, which tells me while they "replicate" it, its not quite how it should be replicated, and some things are not procedurally consistent with how it is IRL, so I highly doubt gaijin will understand or care enough to implement the difference between things like slaved/locked, pitbull/trashed, or any "fire and forget" type long range missiles, particularly in A/A. And that's fine, though a disappointment to myself. I hope I'm wrong, but I wasn't wrong with the first types of Fox 2s, AtS missiles, the Mirage, the A10 or the F14... the list is long. So my hopes aren't high. Back to DCS- they got it right at least!

They added the 9-13 too, which is a Russian modernization from 1994. The F-14A was commissioned in 1974. 20 year gap in technology, not that the technologies are modeled correctly to begin with. War Thunder is a shit show now.

Actually the off-bore sight capability along with HMD was already present on the A model of the Mig-29 when it rolled out in 1983. The same systems weren't developed for the F-16 until the mid 90s and it was then implemented on the Block 50 model.

Mig 29 only one with all aspect? F16 has 6Aim9L, all aspect. Harrier Gr7 F104ASA, A10, Su25, Mig23, Mig21 ..... also have all aspect. R60M and Aim9L are a popular missile around the game, and the 9L is superior. Also more planes are planned for recieving the HMD.

@@Manurix33 Like I said the Mig29 is the only jet with HMD and all aspect. The only nations that might get it with all aspect are France and Sweden and I highly doubt they will. Later on they will add more jets that have that capability, and I think at that point it would no longer be a balancing issue. However the problem is as of right now only the Mig29 has both and I think it would be unfair to get rid of the R73s because of the HMD.

HMD gives to many outs with every missile, that's why I think the Mig29 should keep the R73 but not HMD. R60M is gonna preform 10x better and same with the aim9G just because of the HMD. It's a really great mechanic that I'd love them to add, but adding it now would break the game. Adding it on a jet with all aspect and making it the only one with both is again wild. Plus the fact the devs are debating on getting rid of a missile, that isn't that outstanding, simply because the HMD might make it op should be telling that HMD shouldn't be added.

Yeah I’ve done it with r60s, it’s because the Russian missiles are ridiculously susceptible to heat, the r73 isn’t irl but it’s heavily nerfed in game rn
