Can I migrate a site to addon domain with migrate guru

How do I do that, because I use the cpanel option. Not the ftp option

@@ebenezerayola3211 I have never used the cPanel option, but it looks straightforward. Instead of your FTP credentials you need your cPanel username and password and the rest seems the same.

It is quite difficult to understand initially, but actually is simple. When you point Migrate Guru to the sever and directory of a blank WordPress install it know where to copy the site to. It takes over that install. The domain name just to tell it what to put in the blank install's database ( so it can be the same name as the one you are copying). What actually happens it the new install end up with two sets for WordPress database tables, The original that was created to make the install and the set of tables that is copied from the original site which then controls the site Perhaps I have made this more compex. Good luck with it.

You could point your new rebuilt site to the existing main site and I think it would take over it. But it does that by setting up a new prefix in the existing database. The old site stuff would still be there in the database and would need deleting. Pretty easy with something like the Advance Database cleaner plugin, but it is not going to remove the plugins and media. Sounds to me that the better thing to do would be change the site urls you have on the rebuilt site the main domain with the Better Search and Replace plugin (or simular) and point the domain to the new location.

Hi Alex, I think technically it would work as it adds the new migrated database to the host WP install . But it does not clean up what was there before. The way to do what you want with this plugin is to add a fresh (blank) WordPress install on the server. Migrate the test site to it (via it's location on the server) , but give the domain name as the one you have on the production side (so all the database entries are to the right name) Then point the domain name at when completed.

Good question. I don't really know. I think I have close the window before, but I would guess if you broke the internet connection before everything uploaded to their cloud you could have issues.

@@kbtr9070 I have not try to it with a multisite yet but according to them it will move the whole multisite. Like most similar plugins it can not move individual sites within a network.

Unfortunatley, I can not answer that as it will depend on your hosting.

It is only for migrating WordPress websites.

It clones. The original site stays in place. I am cloning a site in the video.

Thanks @@DavidWaumsley . I already tried it and it works. My only concern is with some of the images I have on my website. They are not showing. When I inspect it , the image source path is still pointing to the old server. ( oldserver.com/wp-content/upload......). Have you experienced this? If yes, can you share with me how you fixed it. Thanks.
