Migrating Canada Goose and feeding Mallard Ducks travel video:
In an effort to thwart packing on pounds over the winter holidays, I've been braving the harsh elements by going outside for daily exercise. Audrey's family home is nearby Professor's Lake in Brampton, Ontario and much to my surprise a large population of Canada Geese and Mallard Ducks (with a few seagulls thrown in for good measure) have been calling this area home as the temperatures in Canada hit subzero.

My daily jogs and walks around this lake have made me feel this sort of kinship/affinity with these migrating birds and during my last weekend in Brampton I decided to hit the supermarket in search of bread to feed them.
The following is a travel video where you'll notice me feeding Mallard Ducks and filming the migrating Canada Goose:
Travel Video Transcript:
Happy New Year guys! Right now I'm making my way over to Professor's Lake which is in Brampton, Ontario and I'm going to be feeding some geese and ducks that are migrating south.
So they're in for a real treat today guys because when I went to the grocery store today Rudolph's Dark Bread. Bavarian bread was what was on sale, so they're getting the best of the best.
So as you can see they're all clustered over there in a circle and some of them are flying over here already. I can't wait to start feeding them.
The Canada goose, native to arctic and temperate regions of North America, has a black head and neck with white patches on its face and a brown body. It is extremely successful at living in human-altered areas given that food is plentiful and it has few natural predators. During the cold winter months Canadian Geese migrate south like Canadian snowbirds, what we call Canadian citizens who head south to the United States to escape the harsh winters. Loud harsh calls overhead from large groups of Canada geese flying in a V-shaped formation signal the transition into autumn and spring.
This is part of our Travel in Canada series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Canadian culture, Canadian arts, Canadian foods, Canadian religion, Canadian cuisine and Canadian people.
All photos and video taken by Samuel Jeffery (Nomadic Samuel) and Audrey Bergner (That Backpacker).

Thawed corn or peas, oatmeal, bird seeds, duck food, lettuce, cooked rice, and cut-up grapes. And don't overfeed, either. :)

+Samuel & Audrey thanks so much man! I meant to add that Bread also doesn't provide adequate nutrition for the birds either. I really love these birds and want them to stay wild and remain a balanced part of the natural ecology of our canadian and US wetlands. I wish you good duck/waterfowl watching/observing in years to come...spread the word and preserve the wildness of these magnificent birds!

Hi, I've been recently following you both. Thank you putting out what you do! I am going to be traveling to Europe with plans to stop over in 3 countries. I've got a few questions for you. 1. Do you have any recommendations for Iceland? Have you been there? 2. Where do you get your music from? Lol 3. As far as travel with Europe what websites for flights or other resources would you recommend?
@samuelandaudrey
@samuelandaudrey 9 лет назад
PK Images thank you!1) We haven't been to Iceland yet; however, we've heard good things!2) We get it from AudioNetwork dot com.3) For flights you could try Sky Scanner or Expedia. For places to stay I recommend Air B N B for a local experience or if you want a hotel Booking dot com.

Fucking hippies! Just go buy a 50 pound bag of whole kernel corn. take it out by the bucket full it's what they prefer to eat helps to pack on the pounds. You start feeding them s*** like apples they don't have the bacteria in their gut to digest it it does them no good. Plus if you're feeding them in Winter the apples will freeze making it extremely difficult for them to use. Way too many City Slickers in these threads that don't know a damn thing about Wildlife but have red stuff on the internet.

Hey man. I'm glad you like feeding the ducks but you feeding the ducks prevents the ducks from making their natural and wild migration south. I have been hunting ducks in southern Arkansas since I was a kid and we see less and less ducks mainly due to global warming, but human feeding and taming of wild ducks is threatening the survival of this species
