Quick note. I'm including all of this info because when I was starting out, I found it really difficult to figure out what gear to use, so I'm hoping if there's anyone looking to set up for RU-vid, this might help. If you need more help just email me, kev at coffeeblog.co.uk - if I don't know the answer I'll ask the professionals.
I'm listing the current setup first that the pros are using, and then my original more budget setup.

Want to win it?: coffeeblog.co.uk/giveaway Quick update on pricing etc. I've been informed that the MiiCoffee version will be coming to the UK with an EU plug, which is a shame. I'm also not clear now on when it'll be available on Amazon UK. Bella Barista will have the DF54 in the UK, with a UK plug & no worries about import duties & brokerage fees etc.

It's here now, in black, for 199£ delivery tomorrow on Prime. A 15A UK plug is about 1£ and 2 minutes of work.

HI, I'm still waiting on the release of this grinder. I really would like to wait, but I can't for the life of me figure out where to buy it from and what price I should be paying. You mention Bella Barista - it's on there for £257.99 delivered. Is that the price I should be paying or should I wait for it to be on Amazon. I'm not even going to mention the UK plug. :)

The Miicoffee ´54s I’ve seen elsewhere have larger, angled rubber bit that go on the forks. It has the effect of raising the dosing cup closer to the chute for even less mess.

I'm nervous. I ordered one of these the other week while half asleep in bed and being fed up with not being able to decide between the Baratza Encore ESP and the Fellow opus. Literally saw a few quick videos, and ordered it. I unfortunately ordered from what I thought was the official site, ended up being the Singapore distributor that don't allow refunds (they tell you this after you've ordered of course). Anyway, something is on its way. Hopefully it's this coffee grinder. Glad it seems to be a positive first experience

Do you think this is on Parr with the Eureka Minion crono with espresso burrs (older version)? I really loved that workflow and that thing was built like a tank. I know the EM has a 310w motor where as this only has a 150w motor. Will this make a difference on anything other than the harder light-roast beans? Any others to look into people would recommend in this £200 - £300 range? Paired with a Sage Bambino (non plus).

With the fix pointer, how do you find zero once you open it up? I'm also concerned with what's under the hood, build quality, and user life. This exact same grinder is sold under several different labels (Turin, Gemilai, etc) so it's really just rebranded. Essentially you are buying this from someone who bought it from someone who bought it from the manufacturer. That's a lot of mouths to feed. Makes me wonder what you're getting for that bargain price.

@ilkzode1822 3 месяца назад
Kev, did you get any insider info on the possible RPM itieration. I think Turin could seriously take over the market if they implememted vertical mount burrs like they did with 83V Having a 54/64 vertical grinder wpuld beat out the gevi grindmaster, sculptor, and the rodocously expensive now $1200 Zerno
@RasenRambo23
@RasenRambo23 3 месяца назад
@@ilkzode1822 Hit the nail on the head - that's the missing piece on the puzzle. Then it will be purely down to burr preference. Mazzer 200 vs any of the SSPs.
@ilkzode1822
@ilkzode1822 3 месяца назад
@@RasenRambo23 the biggest drawback of all turin grinds have been the puff puff bellows, declumper madness, hit or miss retention. If those f'ers wanted to get rich quiik they would make the DF/Zerno clone. Zerno was at one point $1000 now its 1200/1300 and crap you have to sell a kidney just to get the stainlesa hopper or wood mods. Clone the zerno, add RPM , magetic chute, knocker, ionizer. Everyone gets rich
@RasenRambo23
@RasenRambo23 3 месяца назад
@@ilkzode1822 Check out the home barista forum. A major drawback the turin grinders still have is the mounting of the burrs. I don't fully understand it but in the Mazzer Philos, the mounting mechanism is such that it can hardly be misaligned, whereas with Turin grinders that can still happen. Zerno apparently also has the better mounting mechanism as does Lagom. So there might be yet another mountain to climb for Turin.

As someone about to buy their first grinder, my question is: MiiCoffee DF54 or Sage Smart Grinder Pro? I love my Sage Bambino Plus which I bought on your advice. Now I need a grinder. I want to be able to [learn to] dial in for an espresso, but also grind medium for a cafeterie / French Press. Oh, and I want to swap between them drink by drink! I thought about splurging out on a Niche Zero, but was surprised in your review to hear you can't simply jump from one setting to another without re-dialling in. That sounds to me like the indicated setting doesn't actually reflect the grind setting. Ummm... or are all grinders like this? Am I being naive thinking I can jump between two different grind settings on the one grinder machine? Love your videos and website articles, and looking forward to your thoughts and advice.
