Mike and Ginger check out another Nightwish song that's new to them. Song of Myself, from the epic 2013 Wacken performance. ~~~Get exclusive content on Patreon at / mikeandginger Twitter / playitagainmg
About Floor's hair blowing in the wind.... You could say she has a floor fan down there, but you'd be wrong. She actually has 82,000 Floor fans down there! BWAHAHAHAHA! ;)
I never got to know Ann, she passed before i found nightwish, i'm a 62 year old female, so about 4 years younger than Ann was when she passed away, RIP Ann..
This was 14 out of 15 in setlist. You want Marco. My suggestion is nightwish version of Pink Floyd's High Hopes. Even David G. said it's the best version he has ever heard. Even the lighting guys pay homage to Pink Floyd if you pay attention. Then you want more Marco there's Kiss While Your Lips are Still Red and The Islander(Marco has a t shirt the reads "Floor is MY backup singer")😄
This song is based on the poem Song of Myself by Walt Whitman from his Leaves of Grass volume. He would probably be surprised. Tuomas calls him Uncle Walt.
To explain to Mike and Ginger .. Ann was a great Nightwish fan and always gave great comments to reactors .... she was a huge fan and was such a wonderful ambassisidor of the Army .. she sadly passed this year .... this was her fav song of nightwish..a poem by Walt Whitman is the basis of this song !!
Marko plats bass, and he have a great voice. He have three songs where he's solo/lead. High hopes (Pink Floyd cover, even David Gilmour shared it on his Twitter) The Islander where Marko wrote the music and Tuomas wrote the lyrics, and Kiss while your lips are still red, another Marko and Tuomas number written for the Finnish movie "Lieksa!"
Like everyone else has said on here, Marco singing "The Islander" is a great listen and I prefer the live at Tampere version where it is just him out in the middle of the audience. Plus you can also watch "Greatest Show on Earth" from the same concert. There is also another song that not many will recommend but it was a popular song and that's "Bye Bye Beautiful" with Annette instead of Floor.
You really want to hear The Beautifullness of Floors voice check out Hows The Heart The Acoustic Versión and Dead Boys Poem live at Buenos Aires. Cmon NightWish army back me up
Guys, you've picked a killer one here. Definitely one of my favourites. On the album it's 13 minutes short. Just a beautiful song. Marko and Floor singing together is just out of this world P.S. I want to see the headphones go flying🤣🤣🤣 Marko does some really good songs. The Islander is a great folk song that Marko does. Definitely worth a listen to. Maybe some tissues might be an idea.😪😪😪
She sounds like a Goddess because to us she IS one. But she's humble, sweet and down-to-earth as well as a phenomenal performer. She's also a great role model for all. Rick Roll? 😜 Floor would sing a great version of Never Gonna Give You Up! 🔥
@@MikeandGinger we LOVE having reactors fall in Love with NW, Floor's vocals also seem to move even the toughest of guys,Ever Dream is a must for you from the Wacken 2013 setlist, then Amaranth,Bless The Child,Nemo, of course there is Vilja Lied from the Beste Zangers : Floor Jansen sings Vilja Lied for Henk Poort, Beste Zangers 2019 (eng subs). : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k4Bp7exJufs.html .. cheers
The Heart cover was with one of her previous bands, After Forever. (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EpxOKueE-_0.html) . She also did a cover of Who Wants to Live Forever by Queen with them that is incredible (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OwmwpPq6FHQ.html).
I LOVE the intricacies of the music in the background. Playful, adding power, tension, or release. Tuomas is a genius. Then add these exceptional musicians and Floor - its amazing.
Only in this concert there was a major costume change; normally she gets by with just taking off or putting on a jacket or a cape. Ummm... how about something from a concert two years later? With Floor having acquired tattoos, thigh-high boots and a bit of a warrior queen persona: 7 Days to the Wolves ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XvsfwAPbWXc.html
We're the Nightwish Army, you could rewatch the same songs and we would still watch it with you. We never get tired of it! Keep up these amazing videos!
Loved it, dont know if you know but at this point Floor wasn't even an official member of the band, she was a stand in for former singer Anette Olson who left in 2012, when Floor was offered the spot she was asked to learn the set list in 48 hours, there is a full documentary about it actually called "Please learn the set list in 48 hours". Of course she is officially a member now and still with them, but back at Wacken, she was officially a stand-in only. For more Marco try "The Islander" from Tampere in Finland, or "High Hopes" which is a Pink Floyd cover Marco sings on the End of an Era DVD. Keep up the great work guys, loving joining your Journey through music I know so well :)
if it is a decent recording, Nightwish is always at the very least , very good. A lot of it is Greatness personified. And, as so many others mentioned, this really brings home how much Ann is missed by the Nightwish faithful. This was her favorite, and I think of her every time I hear it.
when a new machine gun is built, the manufacturers seek out jukka and adjust the rate of fire. his double base counts :) Greetings from Germany: Nightwish Army
You two are fast becoming my favorite reactors lol. I love your humor, I love the way you look at the other one when you heard something you KNOW your spouse is gonna say oooh about
Wonderful reaction guys. I'm not sure what you've covered already but one beautiful song that isn't reacted to as much as it should be is 'Dead Boy's Poem' live in Buenos Aires - I just know you'll both love it!
Thank you for your reaction and I am enjoying your continuing journey of discovering Nightwish gems. I fully agree with the recommendations for "The Islander" at Tampere, as well as "Romanticide". Both are awesome.
You've already got my list... ;-) Seriously, just keep working your way through them: there just isn't a mis-step to be made. If you want a Marco lead song, then the top options are: The Islander (Tampere 2015) Kiss While Your Lips Are Still Red (Wembley 2015) High Hopes (Pink Floyd cover) Phantom Of The Opera (OFFICIAL LIVE) - with Tarja, Nightwish's first singer Marco always says he loves singing with Floor because he can go full-belt with no fear of drowning her out. :-)
The album version is longer with more spoken prose at the end. Worth a listen even if not a reaction. Headphones going flying is perfectly acceptable!!!! I love "piano black" - I used to have a black piano.
Great reaction guys. If you want to check out Marko being showcased check out the Islander or High Hopes (it's an amazing Pink Floyd cover). Also I think you would enjoy his parts in Everdream from the same Wacken concert.
Once again a fantastic reaction guys. Floor is married to the drummer from the group Sabaton and has a daughter, cannot wait for her to grow up. If you want to try something a little different please try a reaction to Sabaton Bismark.
Thanks for the reaction, Floor is a goddess of course :) Marco has a great voice and there's some great tracks where he sings. And then you go further down the Nightwish rabbit hole :) High Hopes from end of an era live, The Islander from Tampere two great tracks. Stay safe and keep reacting.
Both Floor and Marco have such great voices and versatility within them, the best thing about the pair of them is the way they can combine and dance their voices around one another. Proof that for Nightwish 1+1=3
Hey guys, great reaction Want to hear more of Marco's capabilities (bassist and male lead singer) - React to Romanticide (duet or should I say duel with Floor) from the Wacken 2013 Live concert, or the Islander from Tampere Live 2015, or Kiss while your lips are still red - Wembley live 2016, or NW cover of Pink Floyd's High Hopes, or Devil and Deep Dark Ocean (Buenos Aires 2018) or.... so many great duets/harmony with Floor (and Troy) Want to hear more of Floor's smooth voice - React to: Shallow Beste Zangers 2019 and many more - Floor can sing anything in any genre.
Well what a great lunch break (New Zealand lunch time) Just watched a Ghost River reaction (another reactor) then this popped up, Song of Myself is another of my Favorites reacted by a great team. Waiting for the Poet and the Pendulum reaction to get done :D Tuomas's thoughts and theoretical actions after the split with the first lead singer.. Yeah I know it will be on the list Ohh and put a note on "I want my tears back" do Live @ Buenos Aries 2018, the crowd is insanely hyped and that was over halfway through the show! :D
You guys are so Canadian - I love it. Mike exudes this kind of dignified (mostly) calmness that reminds me of the late Neil Peart and Ginger is just sweet-hot. Now that I've buttered you up, I think you would really appreciate the Nightwish cover of the song High Hopes originally by Pink Floyd. Marko sing the entire song; Tarja is off the stage for an outfit change or something. Performance is from their last show with Tarja in 2005 in Helsinki.
67yrs old ex coalminer in pain from arthritis turn on Nightwish, When the music starts and the voice of Floor comes I am pain free for a few minutes Nightwish are the best Medicine ever
Well guys, when she belts out ' a catnap in the ghost town of my heart ', it doesn't matter what state you are in , drunk, sleepy, in a coma or dead. That line wakes you up. ... lol. Hail the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal Floor and her Brothers. . Hail
I see the Army suggesting "The Islander" (live at Tampere!) or "Kiss while your lips are still red" or Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" tribute... All of them are absolutely A-MA-ZING songs with Marko at his best and I recommend all of them. THAT SAID, judging from Ginger's reaction, I suggest to listen to "Ever Dream" BEFORE THOSE: Marko does "just" harmonies there but his back & forth with Floor is something magical. Plus, it's a really beautiful love song... you know what I mean, you lovey-dovey?😉
Great reaction. If you like Marco taking the lead try The islander live at Tampere or High Hopes live from End of an Era. Yes it is a Pink Floyd cover done the Nightwish way. Also know you liked Floors Phantom of the Opera but the Original singer Tarja sings it live with Marco during the End of the Era show.
My favourite Marco vocal is Kiss while your lips are still red live at Wembley it has a wonderful snowy backdrop Its a gorgeous slow song with Troy on guitar with an ebow and of course Floor on back up vocals it's just perfection. And thank you guys for another awesome reaction can't wait for the next one.
@@liesjedegie1001 Yes we need to push this song more to get it more noticed as it deserves it. I like all the tracks on Human Nature but I'm partial to Shoemaker and How's the heart but they are all superb and I change my mind after every play through the album.... But that's Nightwish all over👍👍
@@bleaksnatcher I couldn't say what my favorite nightwish song is either. 😁 It's all so great! But i'm glad that they are using the ability's off all 3 singers on this album. I love the harmonies! They're all such talented musicians. I also love that Tuomas gave Troy the oppertunity to have the lead vocal. So everybody could here his voice to👍
Thanks! This is probably my favorite live performance! It's topped, in my mind, only by "Pan" from their newest album. That one hasn't yet been performed live but there's a really good lyric video and the piece is stunning.
I really love this song. It has some element's of Metallica's music... especially their song titled "One." But...damn has Floor got some range or what!! Those lower tones are like Ginger said....." Like butter!" My problem is, I want every song to be 10 minutes or more!!! 😂😂😂
Very nice reaction, this is my absolute favorite Nightwish performance. And I promise, the Nightwish Army will not get tired of watching, their catalog is huge! You are in for a hell of a ride! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻
now you are ready for the other two best performances of the band: "the poet and the pendulum" from the 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from the 2015 concert in tampere - finalandia
Happy Birthday to Twilight1964! And thanks for his birthday present. We are fortunate to have such brilliant Nightwish fans who never seem to go wrong with their recommendations! For what it is worth my own birthday is on November 2, so I too will be writing in with a GREAT suggestion for a video! (No, it's not Nightwish however). But I like to give some background info to why I am recommending a song, so I will leave all of that until I write the letter (in my new Patreon account). Keep well !
This is one of my favorite Nightwish songs - who else than NW would go and turn a breakdown into a verse, lol. Also, before I listened to this song, I never thought that a breakdown could be hauntingly beautiful
A lot of people suggesting The Islander for a better view of Marco, and it is a really good one, but I'd also like to suggest While Your Lips Are Still Red, live at Wembley. It's also such a gem and far less often reacted to.
welp not going to bed anytime soon, thanks for the introduction! looks like a fun band! Reminds me of getting wacked in the eye with a pick by Cowboy Mouth's bassist circa '10 she was lookin mighty fine in the shortest skirt and knee high docs! Gf at the time agreed and was stoked for the pick! hey from texas! jenny says open up 6th!
Marco singing 'The Islander' live at Tampere is fabulous and it's a beautiful, emotional song. Reacting to the live version then the official studio / video in the same reaction is a good idea and introduces one of the previous lead singers, Annete Olzon. Although she doesn't have the lead on the song, her accompaniment is nice!
