Stan Lynch is one of the great rock drummers. He's a "feel" drummer like Ringo, and like Ringo, he has his own identifiable style. I was distraught when he left The Heartbreakers after 19 years but even the Beatles broke up after only 8 years so I'm thankful for all those records he played on with Tom and the other Heartbreakers.
Seeing Stan playing drums with Mike makes me so happy. I know a bunch of stuff went down between Tom and Stan, but frankly the Heartbreakers were never the same once Stan got kicked out (or left).
I flew 500 miles to see this show because Stan was one of my last bucket list concert wishes. In case you never knew, the 'Petty' biography with Warren Zanes (from 2015-2016?) mentions an episode from around 1992 where Mike and Stan had a big falling out, so I think that was a large part of the rift at the time, in addition to the creative differences with Tom, etc. It's so great that Mike and Stan have been able to play together. I've seen the Knobs about 20 times, and this was my favorite show. I was lucky to meet Stan for a few moments afterwards. Worth the trip!
Thanks for sharing the show. It was a treat to see Mike Campbell with Stan Lynch in a less than 1000 seat venue at the Crocodile in Seattle. Never thought I would get that opportunity. This band with Lance and Jason are great in their own right and their shows are great and not to be missed.
It was an excellent show. I was supposed to see the Aspen show, but it got postponed because of the NHL playoffs, so I re-routed myself to Napa for an overnight trip. I'm so glad I did it. Seeing Stan was one of the last concert wishes on my bucket list. I got to meet him briefly after the show. What a night.
Saw them last night at The Odeum in Rhode Island start of new tour…fantastic show…Steve ferrone on drums…looked like they hadn’t missed a beat….should be great tour….catch em if you can…we’ll worth it!!
@@jcheck6 yes it actually sounds strange.. He said it himself in an interview/podcast I think. I read he has produced some albums and written songs for Don Henley and others.
Hi, Tom & Lynn! It was a pleasure speaking with you! I have some more videos from this night coming soon. I'll try to get them uploaded tomorrow morning.
