The real issue that should've been addressed is "Why doesn't MLB pursue other players who've abused substances with as much effort as they had with A-Rod"? This way A-Rod isn't being excused for his actions and at the same MLB would appear to be more fair with ALL offenders... Not just big-name ones.
I find it amazing how Mike was 110% on A-Rod's side throughout the whole process calling out MLB, not believing any evidence that was leaked to the media, calling the process a sham, etc... And after A-Rod finally relented and accepted his 150 game suspension, Mike has gone completely quiet on the matter and I think discussed it 1 afternoon for about an hour after a caller brought it up. In the end, he was completely on the wrong side of the argument and has completely swept the whole saga under the rug.
Mike was right, MLB and the NY Daily News were hell bent on getting A-Rod while MLB illegally bought stolen documents and the NYDN didn't go after them for it at all.
Listen, dummy. You might be too stupid to understand this, but Mike wasn't defending ARod's actions as much as attacking MLB's actions. Mike's stance was that baseball should be above paying in cash for evidence that was likely illegal. Baseball should be above singling out one player to clean up its image. ARod is a liar and a thief, but ARod is just one player. He's already done playing. MLB is the institution, and they must protect their integrity decade after decade. I hope you can understand that explanation, but I won't keep my fingers crossed, as you are most likely a moron.
Both if ya exactly right. Mike is not stupid. I'm sure he knew he took steroids. He admitted to taking it in 2003 and had better numbers later in his career. But that isn't the point at all. The point is the 1 sided nature of the investigation. The Yankees basically fired him over this.
mikes point is baseball went after a-rod selectively.....and that appears to be true. remember the list used to attack a-rod was never made public and his name was the only one leaked off that list to this day. this argument here is interesting to no one because the facts are not known so who can follow it.
The comments towards Francesa that are just ignorant are because there is just a dislike for him but he knows his stuff. O'Keeffe stumbled all over Mike's questions and that sounds like no creditability from this guy. Mike is arrogant but he is the best in the game when it comes to sports talk radio...these nonsense comments are from people listening to dumb radio like Opie & Anthony (no longer on the radio)!!!
+Otto TheOrange What is sad is the guy writes all this in the paper & travels and gets all the 'info leaked ' to him and we read it ..then ..arod comes back and hits homeruns and no one gives a fuck about what he did ..plain and simple ..win and no on cares .
+El Pizza Guapo i get it but this okeeffe guy was lawst, you can tell he didnt realize before going on the show that he knew very little about the situation he was writing about and tried to attack mike by saying that hes pals with a-rod and saying can I talk? when he wasnt getting anywhere anyway
Mike is Integrity. True to his word and stands by what he believes in. O'Keefe acts like a kid who tries to explain what happened when his Dad comes home from work.
Actually, he’s entirely factually wrong. When interviewed by the FBI, A-Rod admitted to everything. Francesa was a PR man for a total piece of s*** who did use steroids and did lie about it.
No, he didn’t. He tried to bully him, but in the end, A-Rod admitted to everything. MLB was right. THE DAILY NEWS was right. A-Rod used tons of steroids and HGH over many years. Mike Francesa was acting as a mouthpiece for this steroids-using loser. F*** A-Rod and Francesa.
This guy okeefe is such a clown. He thinks telling mike to "let him speak" is getting him anywhere. He didn't say a single good point the entire interview. Zero evidence presented.
Arguably the best of all time??? I admit I'm a Red Sox fan from Ma. But the guy was a bum in the postseason except for 2009. Sox world champs...again. I was shocked of all guys that Judge walked by the Sox locker room with the " New York..New York song and that was the last time.
No, he didn’t. He bullied him and talked over him. A couple weeks after this interview, A-Rod was interviewed by the FBI under penalty of perjury and admitted to everything. Mike Francesca’s performance was dreadful. A-Rod must have bribed him to run PR and damage control. All his stuff with A-Rod during this time, while hilarious, is also disgraceful. Francesa should have been taken off the air for this. What a loser.
BBQ Ntwk and since you wrote this, he has a cameo in the new Adam Sandler movie... So to answer your question, he’d play himself, because there’s no chance in hell the ol’ blowhard would miss an opportunity to celebrate himself 😂
My God, this guy does not give anyone he confronts a chance to make a point. His show today had to be rigged because every caller agreed with him that MLB singled out AROID. I applaud YES for yanking his show.
mikes more aggressive and more comfortable on his territory, but okeefe has facts on his side, mike needs to get off the payroll of the wilpons and arod
O’Keefe embarrassed himself. Francesa proved how selective the Daily News was. Bud Selig enabled steroids and illegally bought medical records and silence
The reason The Daily News went after A Rod so hard was simply because it sold more papers. It boosted circulation because A Rod is a lightning Rod. Going after Ortiz was not gonna sell papers in New York. This is why they were not so interested to do that. It would not have paid off. This is obvious stuff. It was about money.
Boy this O'Keefe was dishonest about a lot of things.. That said Francessa went on a lot about MLB ethics here and frankly I don't really care about that. A-Rod is guilty we all know this lying is like breathing for this guy. So whatever MLB did to get the goods on him is fine by me.
The people who argue against Mike here don’t get it, The Daily News was doing a hatchet job against Arod, everything they reported was stuff that was done by many others. The News is known for shotty sports reporting. If there is an in-town athlete who doesn’t meet their high standards of how an athlete should be they relentlessly go after them. They did it with Arod, Revis, M.Wilerson. These guys are typical reporters who are jealous and want to knock down the people they can’t be
Mike talks about having integrity going against the Yankess, who pay him a fortune. That was easy to do at this point, he was already rich. If he was starting out as a new talk show host, he wouldnt of said shit, he would've fell in line n kept his mouth shut.
If he was "starting out as a new talk show host" his opinion wouldn't have mattered worth a damn and he wouldn't have been making a fortune from the Yankees🤣. That would be the easiest time to take anyone on. TF are you even talking about🤣. 99% of gutless media people never would've done something like this no matter what stage of their career. Just starting out making little money somewhere, that's the easiest time to take a stand because you're trying to make a name for yourself and have absolutely nothing to lose. People that make a lot of money with nice cushy jobs like this enjoy making more of it and as much as possible. They aren't out there risking that by biting the hand that feeds them, especially at this stage of Mike's career🤣. Just a brainless take.
I don't watch baseball, I don't have an opinion or care about what they are arguing about, but my God Mike is incapable of shutting the fuck up & letting another person talk. I don't know if the other dude is right, wrong or in the middle, but Mike's inability to just shut up & let the other side finish a thought makes me just want to side with the other guy, regardless of what he's saying.
See this what I don’t understand, these great players like A-Rod, Bonds, Clemens...suspension is clearly not enough...they should be stripped of their accolades as well...if we can live in a country where Joe Paterno can labeled a scapegoat and get stripped of wins...I don’t see any reason the same cannot be done in any other sport to would be hall of famers.
That's kind of the entire point for anyone with literally half a brain. The Daily News and MLB were going after one dude for a reason: money, and using trash, unethical, dirtbag tactics to do so. Nothing to do with jack shit for integrity of the game. If that mattered they would've been going after others with the same intensity but of course never did.
