this is how all sports radio hosts should be with their local sports teams. this is outstanding work by the hosts. it also is great work by milbury to make it a great interview. it would also help how teams interact with media rather than the soft balls being thrown at them by the homer wannabe sports hosts.
Meh. First off Mike and Chris could care less about hockey, much less the Islanders. Don't get me wrong, they were great. But it's really not all that brave to run the risk of alienating the Islanders, lol
@@MrOctober44 Meh yourself. It takes balls to talk like thid to anybody. Going as far as calling for a guy's job. Chris wasn't even a fan of New York sports in general. Hockey is big in New York. Two teams in the city and 3 in the State.
Worst GM in the history of sports! And the coach he fired, goes on to win 441 games and a Stanley Cup. And Steve Stirling was a great replacement LOL. DiPietro picked #1 overall, traded Luongo, Chara, Bertuzzi, Mccabe, Tommy Salo, Chris Osgood. Signed Yashin to a 10 year contract. Total disgrace. Set the organization back 15 years.
Respect to Mad Dog for calling out a man who set the Islanders franchise back for years. Among the worst GM’s in NHL history, he’s an even worse analyst.
I lived in New York but was never a diehard Hockey fan but I imagined before I played this that it was likely a volatile interview . WOW !! Jesus Christ Dog was giving it to Milbury.
This is classic! Russo was awesome when he wanted to go after someone and I give Milbury credit for sticking in. But Milbury was indeed a tool who missed the boast more often than not.
@@TL2354 Yeah ? Well one of us has his name and picture and one of us is an anonymous pussy just like the other 90 percent of commenters here. You’re the definition of an anonymous keyboard warrior Mr. TL2354 lol ya pussy
This is how the mainstream media should act when they interview politicians and government officials. Surely we wouldn't be in the position we're in today.
He traded Chara, Bertuzzi, McCabe, Brewer, Redden, Luongo, Jokinen, and traded away the draft pick that resulted in Spezza. He could've drafted Heatley or Gabrik. That team could've been a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference and compete with NJ and Philly in that division. This guy was a joke of a GM, and he's a bigger joke in the media.
Aucoin was a signficant talent. Most durable defenseman on a soild D squad, had a rocket slap shot, led club in average time on ice and was an all-star the year after this interview. Very underrated Islander.
@@danski6694 You clearly don't know much about hockey if you don't think Aucion was a very good player. Check out his ice time, his pp goals. He played over 1,100 games.
The problem was that Wong knew nothing about Hockey. Milbury was clueless and made terrible moves as GM but ultimately Wong needed to have solid hockey people around him to put a system in place. Terrible contracts all the way around screwed the organization for years. Lifetime contracts are un heard of in hockey unless you’re Wayne or Mario. Disfuntional organization after the 80ies dynasty.
They've had one terrible owner after another. Pickett stopped caring, then they had the gang of four who knew nothing, Spano was a fraud, the Swine line refused to spend any money, and Wang was clueless. After his first few years he refused to spend any money.
From Milbury to Snow I can't fathom the frustration being an isles fan player or coach. These guys can manage a burger king let alone a professional team. Thank God I was born a rangers fan. DP15 YEARS YEARS!!
Garth snow is no better..don't be fooled..milbury did some stupid things but he also had to trade players for $$ reasons & some of his younger players were promised contract bonuses that ownership wouldn't pay..maloney, milbury, snow horrible..btw milburys drafting was generally good.
Purple Sword you can compare the 2 as far as coaching management is concerned but that's it. don't even try to compare Snow to the worse NHL GM in history.
Purple Sword 3 Snow actually built the prospect pool from the ground up and dealt with corrupt politics and poor money management from Wang because of the previous fucker GM (not Neil Smith). Trust me, I'm not even a Snow fan and I'm saying that and he should've beem fired this past season for bad coaching management, but it seems he's correcting his mistakes unlike Mike.
When you are an NHL franchise, you don't draft players so they could prosper on other teams. Torrey built his dynasty on homegrown players and bit the bullet for 2 years until they prospered. Millbury tried to win right away without thinking of the long term. In today's financial state of the game, it's impossible to keep an entire team long term
You claim to be an Islander fan and are defending someone who fired 7 different head coaches. You just personified how you've failed for all of these years.
Chris Russo isn't "The Mad Dog" because he is courteous and respectful. And with WFAN probably taking 3 hours of calls on the Laviolette firing before this aired, Mad Dog's questions were probably legitimate.
Milbury acquitted himself as well in this interview as bad as he was as a GM. That's a yuge backhanded compliment I know, but he actually handled this well.
