The little electronic gizmo that Troy is holding against the guitar strings is called an E-bow, it causes the string to vibrate without the need to pick the string and it will sustain the note for as long as you need it to, good stuff 😀
They added this song to their setlist when Paris terrorist attack happened. And they played in Paris only after weeks of attack when all other bands canceled.
You guys put out reactions just as I'm going to bed. This was written by Tuomas and Marko for a soundtrack to a Finnish film. Troy uses an EBow to create those haunting guitar sounds that replace the original violin parts. I find this really moving.
This very beautiful little song is originally from the Finnish movie "Lieksa!" (Pölönen, 2007). Troy uses an E-bow device with his guitar to make these ethereal "string" sounds. And yes, Marko's always been very good at choosing backup singers. 😜😅
This was the 4th reaction to this performance in a couple of days. Usually it is more like 4 times in a couple of months. For some reason hhis is a less reacted to song, although I see it suggested quite often when people suggest 'Marko songs'. "The Islander" and "High Hopes" are more popular Marko songs.

This is actually his song that he wrote for a soundtrack to a movie in Finland. The original didn't have Floor in it. She adds something surreal to the song.

M & G, the roller-coaster track hints to the movie Imaginaerum which contains maybe all tracks from Nightwish album Imaginaerum. I highly recommend watching it, it´s a piece of art. Also for a real roller-coaster of a song, you should listen to the last song from that album called Last Ride of the Day. (It was also featured at ice-hockey world championship in Finland as an intro song for every match.)
Floor this week put out a cover of "Let It Go" from Frozen. Her daughter has been singing it continually soooo... It is Fabulous! Closing in on a Million views and not even out a week. Think you'd like that one.
I knew you'd love this song. The gizmo that Troy is using to make that distinctive guitar sound is called an E-bow, because it allows you to make violin-like sounds with a guitar (the original version used a violin). Funnily enough, I'd just watched a video about oddball guitar gadgets, included the E-bow (which I'd never heard of before), by SamuraiGuitarist, and then the very next video I watched was this one!
Thank you again for your reaction! Nighwish is talented in every aspect of each performance. If you are open to suggestions for continuing the journey, I would suggest "I Want My Tears Back!" Live in Buenos Aires, "Ghost River" Live at Wacken, or "The Poet and the Pendulum" Live from Wembley. (You may want to do some homework (easy to find) on the significance of the performance of The Poet and the Pendulum...the entire group is totally invested in that performance. Only now watching this. I seem to remember this is kind of "unofficial" Nightwish song, done for a Finnish movie Lieksa. Troy's guitar sounds - to my ears- a lot like Mike Oldfield's electric guitar sound. He is using an E - bow here. It is a device that has a battery driven electric magnet in it, which gives a limitless sustain to the sound when put close to the guitar pick up. :)
You Guys Should Checkout Poets of the Fall from Finland. They are an Amazing Band and Their Lead Singer is Also Named Marko. Carnival of Rust Would be a Good First Song to React to from them.

I don't think you need tissues for this song unless you are in a sad mood. It is a beautiful reminder to us all - superb executed - and I am just waiting for my wife to wake up, so I can kiss her goodmorning, from the button of my heart - that's how it works on me😉 And Troy using the E-bow is brilliant - he is also using it on the Wembley version of the Greatest Show on Earth, and a couple of other as well. You might consider "The Carpenter" from Buenos Aires 2018 - here it is Troy and Floor spellbinding the audience - and Troy's soft voice and such a match to these kind of songs - also like "Harvest" on Human Nature. I don't think you have met Troy as lead singer yet? Both Marco and Troy had a unique CV - the only ones having Floor as background singer!! 😂

Troy: I don't often play electric guitars but when I do, I play with an E-Bow just to make it a bit harder. (The original movie version had real violin and E-Bow is a nice alternative representation of similar sounds.)

I think Wembley is the only version to watch. I have seen Nightwish 4 times in Finland after this song has been released and they didn't play this one even the song is from the finnish movie 😐

Marko is an accomplished vocalist with his own heavy metal band "Tarot" since 1982 (although it was 1st called "Purgatory" until 1985, when they got signed). He also released his 1st solo album earlier this year, first with Finnish lyrics (Mustan Sydämen Rovio) & a few months later with English lyrics (Pyre of the Black Heart) and also toured in Europe before the Corona pandemic hit. He & his band for the solo project were also scheduled to open for Nightwish's 2020 shows planned for South-America, but then the entire world tour got cancelled - thanks a lot Corona. Hi Mike and Ginger, Lovely reaction, as usual. And the way you go about things, to me is quite normal . That is not cheeky at all, it is playful, playful teasing. I feel with Mike actually :). Happens to me too all the time, but then, occasionally he throws something into the air that even you, Ginger, quiets you down for a bit, or makes you laugh or giggle.
