NW are the only band that has ever given me shivers, goosebumps..and tears. No matter that I know exactly what is coming, the grandeur of their music never fails...add in the emotion of Marko leaving and it took until 2.34 sec before some grit blew in from somewhere. Thanks
Pink Floyd and Nightwish, the best hard rock/ symphonic metal bands ever (existed) and High Hopes connect them. Marko Hietala should also fit excellently in Pink Floyd, so he did in Ayreon and Nightwish. Hopefully he will come back, the best health wishes to him right now (fingers crossed and high hopes).
Jukka Nevalainen was playing the drums for Nightwish on all the gigs and albums until 2014. This performance is from 2005 so it has Jukka playing in drums, too.
This is an excellent performance from the year 2005 (End of an Era, Hartwall Arena, Helsinki). Marko's phenomenal vocals, Emppu's solos and Jukka on the drums. They were worried about Jukka's wellbeing. Notice Tuomas's little nod to Emppu and later Emppu jumps down from the drum kitchen. ⛄👍
My first exposure to NW was the "Learn this in 48 hrs" video...and Jukka sent my inner 14 yr old girl into HYSTERICAL fits. I had to watch, and then Ever Dream Wacken 13 happened... I will bleed forever. Because Marko.... And THEN....someone did a reaction to THIS. I fell without a shot. They get me in the knees every time. All that testosterone flying around the stage just dazzles me. Perfection, a masterclass in how a tribute SHOULD be done. Marko always sings the soul right out of my body. This song, While your Lips Are Still Red, The Islander... I can only hope that he is able to come back to Nightwish, as they all love each other.
I only recently heard this song myself. Couldn’t believe I missed it. Been a fan since before this concert lol, I just never listened to live shows back then. Marko is fantastic and will be missed. It’s a beautiful performance 💞💞💞💞

Being able to cover Pink Floyd successfully is nothing to scoof at to be honest...and this feels a lot like a Pink Floyd song but with Nigthwish added flavor, I love it. All the guys are fantastic here.

A Nightwish cover would do any band proud +. I've followed Pink Floyd since the 60's, Roger has written some iconic songs. This cover was awesome. Glad to see Marko, and Jukka. Emppu did what he does, pretty amazing. I'm pretty sure Marko will be back in the future, just not sure in what capacity but once music is in your blood it cannot be suppressed forever and will resurface. Thx for great react guys :)
I am a huge PF fan and I’m not offended at all by what you were saying, G. In fact I prefer this version because of the rock (metal) approach and the voice of Marko. And the musicianship and the passion of Tuomas, Emppu, Jukka and Marko (you will be missed). It is a genius tribute of a genius song from a genius band performed by a genius band. This is just great on all sides, performance-wise. There's a story that Jukka was fighting migraines during the show, maybe due to the stress of what was about to happen with Tarja. So if you watch, there's a moment where Tuomas gives Emppu a little head nod, to go check on him. But Jukka's a trooper. Great job, guys! 🤘😎👍

I saw Pink Floyd play the original version live in 1994; it was the first concert I attended and is still the best. I was kind of hoping Nightwish would play this when i saw them in 2012, but they played "Last of the Wilds" in order to give Anette a break.
Marko had two great vocal performances at this concert. This one and his duet with Tarja on 'Phantom of the Opera.' Along with Marko's voice, Empuu's two solos were excellent. Superior rendition of this song.
M & G nice reaction, thank you. This is 2005 ....Tuomas, Emppu. Jukka, Marco and Tarja. After this concert Tarja was let go and soon replaced by Anette. Jukka left for physical health reasons years later and Marco for mental health reasons this year.
Think I must have seen over 100 Ghost Love Score reaction vids by now: it never gets old and I still play just the track for it's own sake sometimes. Stil get a shiver down the spine too. Much the same story with Pisces by Jinjer.

Well one thing you would never see (even if they were still complete) is Pink Floyd covering Nightwish. If no other reason, it would be because they wouldn't have Floor. :)
They were not in a happy place during this live show for several reasons: 1. They all knew that Tarja would be fired after the show giving her the famous letter 2. Marko was really sick 3. Jukka might also have had some trouble since Tuomas used his head to signal Emppu (at 2:01 of the original video) to check on Jukka, which Emppu also did after his 1st guitar solo. P.S. If I remember correctly, this song is #4 on Tuomas' list of his favourite songs, or at least it used to be.
If the drummer is wearing a bandana, it's Jukka. I'm not aware of Kai ever wearing one while playing for Nightwish, while I'm not aware of Jukka ever *not* wearing one unless it's a really old video.
Great cover of Pink Floyd song. I think Dave Gilmour would say they completely did it justice and Nightwished it. Emppu really killed it and Marco, oh Marco what can you say about him. He is a extremely talented musician and I think maybe irreplaceable. Will be interesting how Toumas reworks songs or maybe they find a new bass player with good vocals. Anyhow that has yet to be seen.
You did a reaction to Scardust. Don't know if you know this about the vocalist for Scardust, Noa Gruman. Noa Gruman took 2 years of online vocal training from Floor Jansen. Another musician to look up that also had online vocal training from Floor Jansen is Patty Gurdy. I think I previously sent you a video from Patty Gurdy before maybe. She is a great musician with the Hurdy Gurdy instrument that does a combo of Celtic, Pagan, rock and pop music.
It's like Sound Of Silence, do you prefer S & G or Disturbed? They're both great. I love P F version since they have been my favorite band since 1973, but this was very good.
If I didn't call out that you should see this one, then I should have. Can't always recall previous posts. But yes, I hope Marco leaving is only a temporary thing, though from what I read, he seems pissed more at what music companies are doing and not so much the band, as the band is stuck where it is. But it's also very possible with everything going on in the world, that music companies might have to stop what made him mad, and he might be willing to come back then. Who knows. Here's hoping everything goes well for both of them.
Plus, what's really the point in dramatically leaving the band and public life when no bands are doing anything anyway? I think he'll be back. Maybe the band could include High Hopes as part of their set list once in a while. Who knows, maybe if Tuomas wrote a couple more songs that feature Marko as a soloist and a cool base solo Marko might feel more validated.
@@rudolfo963 He suffers from chronic depression. In late 2020 he's condition took a turn to the worse. So much so that he had to leave that years Raskasta Joulua Christmas tour midway.
Geezer here, so I have a long loving history with both of these bands. Energy-wise though, Pink Floyd's piper cub just got buzzed by the Nightwish starship... Just saying. Both versions are still in my playlist. Ciao!
Nice. Ehm, you may wish to check out a 'Metal Pink Floyd' band on their own right, and genre: The Gathering. They also happen(ed) to feature that one much acclaimed vocalist who came to be Devin's Metal Tinkerbell. Both band and singer inspired many who followed in their footsteps. You know which signature performances have been recommended by many by now. Enjoy! I personally think The Gathering and Anneke together would sound better performing Pink Floyd covers. Annie would sure sounds most haunting than ... many. To my knowledge they never covered them though. And I think they didn't need to as they were very well able to do their own 'Pink Floydy' version of metal. Oh, and fun fact: Tuomas was looking for a singer who would sound 'like Anneke' ... to later find Floor. They're both top tier, with each their own unique and unmatched qualities.
This is a tribute to PF instead of a cover. Tuomas tuned this for NW style but nicely respecting the original. And yes...they all performed so awesome (as always) but maybe this gives us even more pain now when we know Marco to leave NW.
Was Floor with the band at this time , if she wasnt than i get why no backing vocals but if she was , they blew it by not using her .....great performance regardless.
Now THAT is how you cover Pink Floyd, even though the choice of song comes from after PF had stopped being musically interesting (to me). Marko is incomparable. If you haven't yet, look up "Masked singer Finland Tohtori". The last word in that search is the character Marko played on the show (spoiler alert--he won. Not even one of the judges guessed his identity correctly (from the reveal show, and based on pictures, as that episode is all in Finnish)). Sit through the weird stuff, the song will follow. There are some... interesting... song choices there.
I totally understand where Ginger is coming from about missing the "real" Nightwish. It's been a while since the new intro...is it time for a new outro? 👀
Thanks for your enthusiasm for Nightwish - I love them too -, and I share the feeling of loss for Marko leaving the band. Did I detect a hint of disappointment in Ginger's reaction (hidden behind praise for Tuomas')? I hope it was so. Let us be frank. This cover is a full reinterpretation of the original, a beautiful song about resignation over getting older. The cover is done in style and with great musicianship. But it is a different song.

Trouble is they make it a dramatic doomy song whereas it’s supposed to be a nostalgic song about childhood. Pink Floyd live at Pulse is more tuneful and musical and reflects what’s it’s actually all about the ache of the old days.
