This 2006 NJ champion class had four wrestlers (Darrion Caldwell, Frank Molinaro, Zack Rey, and Jordan Burroughs) that went on to win an NCAA championship. And Burroughs went on to become a freestyle legend afterwards. It’s why I tell people that despite its small size, NJ is pound for pound the toughest wrestling state.
I must say this match in particular made me think how the value of a take down is not emphasized enough. You could take someone down 3 times and because an escape is worth one point, the match could be 6-3. Yet, it's really not worth trying to keep someone down. You could be dominating and one wrong move could land you on your back.
@@rickcimino5483 For the first ever 4 time NJ State Champ? That same year Darrion Caldwell, Zach Rey, Frank Molinaro and Jordan Burroughs were NJ State Champions, not 4 times like Grey. Each one of them went on to be National Champions and Burroughs became arguably the greatest American wrestler of all time...so yeah...a nothing burger.
