Standard when you don't know what you're opponent has. Could be protecting a flush draw, could be under pockets and wants him to fold or could be top pair. Could even be AK AQ etc. This isn't horrific. Its normal.

The worst thing about this hand is Mike limping and calling av 5x raise of a 20 bb stacks from the button pre. The flop play is standard from both players.

What do you mean? That's exactly what a bad beat is. A bad beat is getting your money in while you're ahead and then losing - it's entirely derived from bad luck. I do agree with you though, the call made a lot of sense. Not sure why people seem to think that you should fold pairs if any overs come out...

how is that standard? Mike had a 91% chance of winning on the flop. It is a very bad beat with one of only 2 cards in the deck that could have beaten him. No backdoor straight or flush draws either for the opponent

I was in a tornament in atlantic city and a hand like this came up between me and another guy i had 99 he had AA and i turned a 9 and the guy went crazy started throwing chips cussing then he asked me to step outside i looked at the dealer and said can i have my buy in back if i quit? He said no so i quit anyway its poker but i cant hamdle sore losers

Sets love to spike the turn. If you got a small pocket pair and miss the flop and the flop bet is small enough you gotta call cause when you spike the turn they are going broke if they have anything strong. This one guy tried to slow roll trips on me in a raised pot and his play let me boop the turn and it was a one way ticket to brokesville for him.

This is a bad beat, but I wouldn't call it horrific. A horrific bad beat is JJ vs 67os, get the guy holding 67os to go all in on the flop of J67 and watching the turn and river both be 7.

I was about to make final table in a $25 buy in, was 2nd top chip leader. Guy in BB decides to go 3bet all in (who was on steam). I was originally the 2bet re raiser, so I call. I have pocket 9s… He has 87s Guess who wins.

Lol last night I got it in with 99 vs 98 for 200bb agains a fish and lost then went on to loose twice with aces and AQs vs A8s lost. Totaling over 500bb that's just a typical wednesday online still only ended the day -250bb some days are just like that

As someone who plays online quite a bit, sometimes I think it helps a little bit to play online because then you’re a little bit more callus to the bad beats and when it happens live you kind of just except it a little bit more. Would you agree, or am i way in left field

So you don’t call getting it in with the best, 91% to win the pot. 99 has 2 outs in the entire deck and hits one.. it’s definitely a bad beat.. saying it you way you did wouldn’t even make sense. Why would he call 10k all in with 89 on a J35 board 😂

That's not bad. I took a worse beat last week. Pocket 10s, flopped a set. Opponent had trip 8s. Obviously got it all in, he hit an 8 on the river lol.

@@Blue1479758 I just don't think it's like super strong to have top pair with a 10 kicker. I get it...it sounds dumb to say that because of equity percentages..but its not rare occurrence, as in many times I've seen top pair on flop lose as there is 2 cards to come out.

I'm actually curious to know...because that means I've seen many many bad beats. I always think of the BAd Beat jackpots as a reference
