I just found Mike & the Mechanics Aug 26, 2024. I heard a few of there songs & loved their sound, Now that I've found them, I can listen to all their songs.
I was listening to this song today driving in my car and was completely overcome with emotion. I thought about what it meant to me when it came out (I was 13), and now 30 years later I hear the lyrics from the perspective of a middle-aged person, probably around the age the band was when they released it. Still just amazing as I remembered it!
I love the fact, that if you watch the video closely, you can see Mike's guitar transport crates several times - still clearly labelled "Genesis"! His heart is always there....

I purchased the "Living Years" album on CD when it was released in 1988, and was always drawn to this song, "Seeing Is Believing," a song that makes you think about politics and religion but doesn't really make a statement about anything in particular, except for the power of love. 😎 😍 🎵
It's a song that makes you think about politics and religion of the times, as in this case the 80s. As the lyrics go on to say "I feel I'm in trouble as the Eighties close I look to the future"
