There has been talk on the forums about the best hubs for Excursions. In this video I do a straight up bench comparison showing the difference between mile marker and warn brand hubs.

Interesting video. For my vehicle, 2004 Xterra, I was leaning towards Warn. With what you demonstrated I now will look towards Mile Marker. Suggestion, please mount your camera, its movement becomes nauseating. Watching a bouncy video where do we look, to what do we concentrate on? Also, a mounted camera would greatly help you for using both hands.

Not sure If the differences will be the same on the Xterra but for these in particular the MM seem to be the best bang for the buck. I'm always trying to improve in my videos so thank you for the suggestion. Again this is an older video so I like to think I've gotten a bit better! thanks for watching!

Nube here! The only thing i cant find explicitly answered somewhere is if the vacuum system on my excursion is broke (which it is) why cant i just use the factory manual lockout? What does upgrading to an after market hub give me over factory manual lockout? Or does the manual lockout on the factory fail as well as the vacuum system? Thanks for the help!

Your only noob until you ask questions 😎 Your correct in thinking, the factory lockout will do just fine. But they do get worn out (like everything that moves) so when it does wear out an upgrade is always better than replacing 🙃 You will want to cap your vacuum lines so that you don't have a massive leak to the hubs when in 4x4, a rubber cap where the line goes through the inner fender works great.

The directions tells you how to install using the spironolactone first then the lock ring. Like the old saying goes WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS READ THE DIRECTIONS.

Ha! yup I'm not great at reading those distructions!

mile marker official has an installation video here on youtube posted 7 years ago and they put the lock ring in before the spiral ring...maybe the directions are a misprint? or the demonstration video is wrong? I did it how they did it on the installation video... 20k miles and havent had an issue..they work great.

My factory hubs have lasted 20 years now, sounds like a quality product to me.

Agree 100% for my white truck I am in the same boat, but for this thing I wanted one less possibility of loosing 4x4 so going with a manual lock out and seems stronger than factory was a good option. I love the auto hubs for my other truck, those are staying!

I’m running Warn on my Excursion. About 5 years now.

I have a 2001 7.3L that I bought new. It has 177,000 miles and I use it on a ranch. I definitely use 4x4 on a regular basis. My oem hubs have failed. You can not manually lock them because of corrosion or something that binds them from turning by hand. I haven't tried other hubs yet but I'm not impressed with the oem hubs.

Ya lots of folks have issues with the vacuum system fails and such. They did last 21 years so that's not anything to be mad about! But These are great options for an upgrade, but your loose the vacuum lockability.

Factory hubs are great. The cheep Chinese replacements are what give you trouble. I’m running warn premium hubs on my excursion Simply because I bought a Dana 60 to upgrade the front axle from the Dana 50, and it came with warn premium hubs. Warn premium hubs are all metal like the mile marker hubs. However they cost twice as much as the mile marker.

Ya I like the price point of these, Glad to hear the premium are all metal tho, it will be interesting to see how these hold up!
