Military pumps a huge amount of money into townsville. The population is growing towards 200,000 and there's a big mix of industry and tourism. Add to this a huge amount of infrastructure spending in the next decade. It sounds like a perfect mix to me.

I've covered this on my video in Townsville briefly but Bernard Salt in our 'live sessions' video knocks it out of the park if you want to know the affects of a military base on property :)

Military bases are targeted in wars... especially at a geopolitical / high level. But manufacturing in good times is what the property lens is concentrated on.

Isn’t Townsville a crime area lot of youth crime ?

Cairns and Darwin are more likely to benefit from Defence on the naval side. If China is increasing their presence in our region, then you can be sure that there will be more money spent on patrols boats, surveillance, weaponry etc. Also both are supposed to be getting shift lifts so that will mean ship crews staying in town, while boats get repaired and spending their money.
