Millennium Falcon with full interior (15k+ parts)

I completely removed the superstructure to build my own. There is still a double lego technic structure in between the floor and the underneath of the falcon (You can quickly see it at 7:15) but it is thinner than the original one and of course lower to get the space required. The very big challenge was holding the mandibles on the inner side

dude. that is 15 thousand pieces. that would take two and a half days straight of building. there is no way he would be able to do that without ldd, and even then he would need a pretty damn powerful computer to be able to handle that amount of pieces.

I completely rebuilt the lego technic structure. What do you mean by "modify the cockpit" ? Remove the transparent plastic parts ? I already get a bit more space inside but I think it is the best I can do without considering a x2-scale falcon.

I added something like 8k pieces more compared to the original. Plus those after that video... I mainly ordered all the parts on Lego websites and on individual retailers found on Brickowl... I cannot say exactly the cost but assuming 7-8 cts mean cost you can do the maths =).

Yes I know I should publish this on a dedicated Lego thread... I did not have time so far and above all I did not take enough picture of the build so that it can be interesting for people to follow how it is made. I have a particular interest in building 2x-scale MF that's why I tried to do a kickstarter with no success. My intention is to upgrade other ships (with detailed interiors) such as swowspeeder or else but I want them to be at scale with the MF. And improving details at this scale, for example on X-wing, don't let any margin... To do so the only way is to enlarge the MF. But requires quite a lot of pieces...

Well they only included some interior because they knew they could manage small bits of interior without compromising the technic structure. If they included the cockpit hallway the thing would’ve been incredibly fragile, and that can’t be accepted on a UCS model

No I basically rebuild everything. actually you must abandon the original structure if you want to have a flat floor. I attached some pictures in the description (it’s the only ones I’ve got)

I checked out your work. Very good job, and I really appreciate you mentioned mine. Actually, once I started building it, I hesitated quite a long time about tiling all the outer parts. I was not really convinced in grey and wing plates are difficult to deal with in a no-stud design, so I gave up the idea. But I must admit that it has a certain charm in white. On the bottom, I saw you used inverted tiles; Personally I preferred to reverse entire plates. The trick was to use 2- and 3-fingers lego hinges to make the stud inversion. That way you could have used standard tiles that are available with more different geometries than reversed ones. Anyway, thanks for the nice comments and good luck to you with your builds. And who knows, maybe one day I will find some time to build the x2 scale I wanted to do initially

@@legomodder3891 Sir, I did try the 2 and 3 hinge plate trick before going with inverted tiles. I figured that’s what you did, as well. Honestly, I probably watched the underbelly part of your video the most. I wasn’t getting a firm snout connection with them, which is a shame, because I ordered A LOT of them. Oh, well. Thank you so much for responding, and I’m glad you’re still out there. You’re a legend in the custom Lego space, and I learned a lot from you.

I pick the bricks in my own stock, then some on LEGO (pick a brick & replacement bricks) and a lot on BrickOwl. Actually, some sellers are not competitive with LEGO even excluding shipping fees (which is crazy BTW) so you need to be careful when you select your parts here. But in most cases, you benefit from lower costs.

Actually I built this mod bit by bit without designing it at first. I would not be able to make instructions without dismantling it entirely and rebuilding it, which I do not want to do since I've almost finished all the lighting of the ship =). If I got funds to build a new version, I will make instructions :).

hi ! in the description I put 2 pictures of the frame (you’re not the first one asking those). It’s all I have. unfortunatly I will not rebuild it. too much work, time and money ^^ and I can’t unmount this one considering that all the lighting is in place now (look at the second video !) I hope it will help you to build your own.

@@legomodder3891 thanks man I appreciate the help I saw your photos and I realized that I can follow the instructions and then leave out the second layer of the middle and fill the rest with base plates and make a customer interior all using the pieces of the original build. thanks

I did not make any crash tests to compare the resistance of both models :). What I can say is that I can lift it up quite easily without breaking it, so I guess the new structure is perfectly fine. If there is a weaker point compared to the official build, this is around the mandibles beacause I needed space to build the hallways at the front. This is strong enough though and I even reinforced the left one since the publication of this video.

The LEGO original structure is simply oversized for the purpose. Plus, even with a double technic layer, there is no reason for having more than one brick distance in between. Actually, the only reason I see for the original version design, is the simplicity, justified by the absence of an interior.
