This is Milwaukee's sealed head teardrop handle ratchet, it is actually pretty nice with a large ratchet pawl and a reasonably tight anvil. I think miwaukee did a respectable job on this tool. Milwaukee #48-22-9038
I bought one of these on the basis of your review (& the reputation of the brand) because of the pawl size. I have used it often and regularly and surprised just how much strength it has. Well worth the money and it has replaced my so ratchet as the one I grab most often in the 3/8 size.
I have this ratchet which I bought with the set of sockets and I absolutely love it. I recently did some suspension work and the ratchet has a great feel compared to my old Husky. I would highly recommend this ratchet especially if you can buy it on sale.
That does look like a really nice ratchet. I would really like to see that ratchet in a low profile, even it it wasn't 90 tooth, it would be really nice to see. To me there are enough standard ratchets on the market, but always need some kind of specialty ratchet for different situations. Thanks for showing it and cheers.
i've been pleasantly surprised with Milwaukee's hand tools. this thing is a beast... wish it had a little bit thicker face plate but other than that the build quality seems really nice
I just got my Wright Tools flex head and straight head ratchets and Tekton long handle ratchets. Matco super beast 3/4 inch drive 28 to 40 inch extendable ratchet and 1 inch drive 30 inch ratchets. All Are Super Strong Ratchets!!! Love Them!!! 😎
I went by Advanced Auto today and picked up a three pack (1/4, 3/8 and 1/2) of the new Diehard ratchets. All were very dry inside and got the full treatment. They are identical on the inside to Milwaukee. The pawl on these has less writing but they are the same shape. Both are laser etched on the head and both have the same pawl. Both have all the seals and same switch design. Both have the anvil that seats into the head and pin like pawl spring thing. Milwaukee does have a unique handle design. The comfort grip Diehard have very nice handles too tough. Diehard has no stamped markings at all. Edit: All three of mine had a gasket on the anvil. Others on the tube had gaskets too. Bummer Mr. Catus...

Always love these reviews. Won't think twice about spending my money on Milwaukee cordless tools when it come time to get new stuff and that time is coming soon. They aren't even on my list for ratchets, sockets etc. To many other good alternatives. 90% of my stuff is 25+ year old Craftsman. Don't need sockets but I have upgraded ratchets to finer teeth including Gearwrench 120xp and Tekton 90 tooth. Tekton stuff I have has been great. Not say the Milwaukee ratchets aren't quality items but they don't seem better that others thus the "brand" premium pricing is not worth it in this case.
I have some 90t tekton and this Milwaukee and the only difference is ergonomics, and maybe my tekton is alittle dull or the Milwaukee a bit shiner haha. I’d happily grab either
@@SnD340 yes, I still would suggest SK or even nos Armstrong, you can get an Armstrong Maxx(which is the extract same ratchet as matco) from eBay for the same price, the downside is since apex tool choose to shut down Armstrong and Allen production you will have to rely on GearWrench actually following through on their promise to still honor the armstrong lifetime warranty
I've been wanting to make the jump and buy the 3/8" set. Problem is, the reviews on it online are terrible. Talking about how the actual insides break after 6months of daily use.
Great review, I wonder who is making all these Taiwanese hand tools for Dewalt, Milwaukee, etc. The biggest problem I see with all these new brand names besides availability, is getting them warrantied and wondering weather they will be making hand tools with their name on them in 5 - 10 yrs. That said this does look like a very nice ratchet, and for once it doesn't have that awful snap on style handle grip.
I think they dropped the ball on their handtool line. They squeezed into Home Depot and they promised more. Seems like they tested out a few stores and now they’re backing out. I was hoping to see the single sockets they promised, but that never happened.. the sockets are China and they don’t fit well on other tools anyway. They market to mechanics, yet you see these Packout cases showing up now.. I think Dewalt is doing a better job, I have 2 hardware stores that are stocking a full line of Dewalt Single impact and chrome sockets, ratchets, torque wrenches, regular wrenches, ratcheting wrenches, and they’re all made in Taiwan! It’s looking better than the craftsman version at Lowe’s!
I was excited when Deboss Garage showed off the new Milwaukee impact sockets for use with the M12 impacts. That was ages ago, they are nowhere to be found 🤷♀️
I have on snap on I have owned Mac tools I have owned, husky and craftsman the research I’ve done about Milwaukee. Apparently it is on the same quality level as metals and snap on their up in torture tests on multiple different RU-vid channels where Milwaukee has done the best amongst the top 10 brands

I had 3 of those micro head Duralast ratchets and I love them. My standard length 3/8” was stolen at work and when I went to replace it they had stopped selling that particular style. I’ve looked all over trying to find one or figure out the manufacturer.
The bane of high tooth count is excessive back drag. I wish there'd be more innovation to address that problem rather than relying on tooth count to sell ratchets.
I noticed that. You can get Williams USA made ratchets for a similar price or less (only 36T), or Tekton 90T for over $10 less, depending on the seller.
@@diemman70 im waiting on a sale for the full 1/4 3/8 metric and standard to come on sale. I bought a stanshity kit on sale for 100 bucks and they are so worn i cant tell what sizes they are and they are just sitting in my truck for road fixes maybe used them 20 times and they are not the best. Rather have a nice pack out case to go with the rest of my packout. I dont have a shop but a shed and the pack out keeps mt tools in very nice shape.
@@TheDmantheman100 Well, you missed the sales last year on the Milwaukee 1/4 and 3/8 drive sets. The 1/2 Drive hasn’t gone on sale yet. You need to watch Tool Boss.
