I have this tool, and it works really well for the kinds of cuts that were demonstrated in this video. It's generally my go-to tool for cutting off bolts or cross-cutting metal extrusions. I think it gives you a bit more control and safety than an angle grinder for these applications. I used it to trim off the corners of the injection-molded ABS plastic mounting brackets for a roof rack that I bought for my car so I can still open and close my sunroof with the roof rack on. With the blade guard on, I was able to make a little jig so I could ride the cutoff tool along a fence and make a very straight and clean cut. I think this is where the tool shines. If I had to cut a big piece of tile, I would clamp down a strip of MDF or a metal extrusion to give myself a fence to guide the tool for a very straight and clean cut. If you minimize the depth of your cutoff wheel in your material, you can generally make more cuts before you wear down your cutoff wheel. This is definitely true with abrasive cutoff discs. One thing that could be improved with this tool is that the blade guard doesn't attach firmly to the tool. When you use the guard with the vacuum attachment, there's quite a bit of play. I think Milwaukee could improve this on a future version. If the guard would lock in tightly, you could run this along a fence like a circular saw and get very straight and clean cuts.

if you're a DIY, you will need it eventually for home use. Great review. I was looking to buy this tool until I read the specs that the maximum depth it can cut is 0.6" and no more. I run into thick plaster and lath a lot over an inch thick and have always been looking for something light weight with dust control with the shoe. Right now the only solution I have is using an angle grinder. Do you know if you remove the shoe can you cut deeper than 0.6"? If so what is the maximum depth? I agree that they should make an 18V version of this with larger disk that can cut up to 1.5".
@williamedward1719
@williamedward1719 5 лет назад
I own this tool. It's quite useful. But I ran into the same depth problem. There is a solution depending on what you're cutting. Tool comes with two backing flanges. One for the arbor size on the three inch blades. And another for blades and wheels with the next larger arbor size. You simply use the smaller backing flange as a spacer. Then use the next-size-up backing flange on top of it. Then you put a larger flush cut blade on the tool. I used the dremel wood/etc. flush cut blade that was meant for the dremel Ultra Saw. The larger blade will then cut a bit deeper for you but you will not fit the dust shoe and you will not be protected by a guard since the larger flush cut blade now extends past the guard itself. This will stress the tools brake a bit more as it's more for the brake to handle. It also lowers the threshold for "oh crap he's leaning on me too hard shutoff feature" causing the blade to stop more easily and slowing you down. But it'll cut deeper. Through softer materials especially.

All your tile cuts were sped up. Can you tell me the length of the cuts in 1 minute?
@LandbergTileTV
@LandbergTileTV 5 лет назад
The metals cut within seconds, the tile cut like a standard grinder, 20 seconds or so, but the hardi backer concrete board cut SLOW. 👊

Honestly nothing a 4in grinder can't do. Unless that last porcelain cut is getting tucked I don't think a stone can hide those burrs. The dust control is cool though. But still wet sponge or shop vac right behind the trail of dust on a 4in

Absolutely correct! Grinder can do everything unless you're unskilled with it.

Eugene Eugene, sure why not, just use the tile blade or get a RotoZip or Drexel blade. Set it to the correct depth, then go at it.

Can you get a wood blade for it ? Cut plywood ??

Ben Meyer, yes...that’s what I was saying. Do to the Depot and get the following: Dremel SM600 3-Inch Wood & Plastic Flush Cut Carbide Wheel I go a 4” one for my RotoZip tool.

Only thing is with milwaukee is the tools and charger looks like it was designed by toys r us. Someone at work bought 4 different bits of kit, impact, combi, recip and multi tool and every single thing went wrong in under a year. Wouldn't touch anything they make

So its just a weirdly shaped angle grinder...but with a useless feature such as reverse.
@LandbergTileTV
@LandbergTileTV 5 лет назад
It definitely feels more ergonomic and comfortable than my Dewalt cordless grinder. The reverse can kick out debris and the guard/fence helps following a line when cutting (grinders don't have this).

When showing how a tool cuts, it might be a good idea NOT to speed up the video when your making the cuts. Kinda defeats the point. Good review tho.

@@LandbergTileTV speed it up, how else is he gunna hide the poor performance? Hes a sell out that makes money off the "review"
@LandbergTileTV
@LandbergTileTV 5 лет назад
@@Stephen-ut5xo No no, if I don't speed it up, then the video will upload at 30 minutes long. No one wants to sit for 30 minutes watching a little hand held "grinder" cut. And no, I'm not a sell out buddy. I've been reviewing tile tools for 3 years now. I make more money in 1-2 days building showers than one month from youtube. I'm not here for the money, but thanks...

This works for lefties. I'm sort of ambi. I've used his tool lefty. You just turn it upside down and squeeze trigger with ring and pinky fingers. Little awkward for if you're using the dust shoe but otherwise it's fine lefty.
@williamedward1719
@williamedward1719 5 лет назад
Also if you get this for using lefty. Use only 1.5, 2.0, or 3.0 Ah batteries. Anything larger will get in your way if you're a lefty
