Nice job on the review! Just finished reviewing it myself. Very thorough review, enjoyed the overhead tool shot and the b-roll footage of the drill in action.

Hands down the best review of this tool I have found. Literally the only person to say that this uses a mechanical clutch, Milwaukee's website makes no mention of this even though IMO that's a big plus for a more delicate touch tool. All the other reviews concentrate on how big of a lag can you run in with it, literally could care less, that's impact driver work. I also appreciate the explanation for the foregrip, moving the electronics out of the head for a flatter footprint. Also explains why the controversial non traditional direction selector, it would basically have to be it in the front end in the way getting bumped. All the other reviews are "it looks cooler and has a place for the light". You never disappoint, and I'm always glad if I find you've reviewed a tool I'm interested in. Keep up the good work!

Just picked this up on Amazon for $175. I've put together a patio heater, patio table and a few bar stools. So far so good. Only tried it with a 2ah battery. Not used to the controls and the light on it sucks 😕 But I do love the little guy!.

I used this a few times at a local community woodshop and it blew my mind, but that offset adapter drove me insane drilling pilot holes. I got the Bosch on sale and I'm super glad I did. I prefer their attachment system for changing position with the right angle and offset and their offset adapter locks. Though Milwaukee has a better locking bit holder. It's wild that the Bosch is the cheapest, I think it's the best.

I agree, the Bosch 12V Flexiclick is my favorite (I refuse to call it the rebranded "Chameleon"). I bought the brushless version and figured I'd sell my brushed version, but just ended up keeping one for the garage and one for my basement workshop!

Would you recommend this over the Festool CXS? I'm wondering if I can use this as my only drill. With the CXS that's impossible, but this has double the torque. (given that both are the same price here in Europe)

@@DoresoomReviews Thanks! What do you like in the Bosch over the Milwaukee?
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 2 года назад
I think I personally like the Bosch more, but it's not a no-contest win for either of them. The Milwaukee has better ergonomics, but the Bosch attachment design is much smoother when you want to hit a certain angle with the offset or right angle adapters. The 1/4" bit holder design on the Milwaukee is much better for one handed operation with just inserting the bit, and then pulling the collar to release. The Bosch requires pushing the collar for both bit insertion and release. However, the Bosch has a locking collar for bit retention on the offset attachment, where the Milwaukee just has a magnet. Bosch wins for direction lever design. Milwaukee wins on torque. I like the Bosch enough more though that I recently bought the brushless version when it became available in the US.

Nice review again. Glad to see you back. My only issue would be the weight comparison. You weighed the new driver without the chuck attachment vs the hammer drill which, of course, has its own chuck. I would say their weight would be near the same with the chuck attached. With that said, I don't see anything this unit can't do that my M12 Surge and hammer drill can't do better. Each is more powerful and easier to use without fumbling with attachments on and off. I'll keep what I have.
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 4 года назад
Good point about including the weight of the drill chuck in the comparison. This driver with the chuck installed is about 10% lighter than the M12 Gen 2 - a respectable weight reduction, but nothing spectacular. Without the chuck installed though, it's about 25% lighter which will really be felt by the user. So it depends on how you're using it. If you're just driving screws with it, you can get by with the magnetic bit holder and save the weight, which you still can't do with the Gen 2 drill.
@jronmanbuilds
@jronmanbuilds 4 года назад
The installation driver is not a replacement tool to the m12 surge or the m12 gen 2 hammer drill driver. It is more of a tool to use in conjunction with them. You may not use the installation driver every day like the other 2 but when you do need it, it is worth its weight in gold.

If you reverse the direction, drill bits will try to come out of holes.
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 4 года назад
That's a good point, but it's an extra step you still have to take that isn't necessary if you've got a locking bit holder. With the way this forward/reverse switch is designed, it's just about as fast to just yank the bit out of the workpiece by hand afterwards.

Not worth buying: - Nose-heavy. Even with a 6Ah battery it will tip forward and fall nose-down - Fucken-weak! 300in*lbs torque is ridiculously weak for the size and weight this tool is. Milwaukee has come up with an M12 surge impact driver with 1400in*lbs of torque and the thing is just as tiny as this one. - This set is $230!!! (Just for reference: the M18 2800's impact and drill set with two 5Ah batteries is around $300 right now!!!) - Has no side bit clip. True, it has a front magnet, but it is a weak magnet that can only hold the smallest bits and will drop the longer ones, or the bit extensions). - No impact function. - The electronic direction switch is in a terrible location. The mechanical detent-type of the direction switch is the best as you can flip the direction without even shifting your grip. However the switch that this thing has... you either have to shift your grip, or use another hand to do it - either way you are fucked if you're in a tight spot with only one hand available to reach (which is the niche this thing was designed for in the first place)!
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 4 года назад
It's very well balanced with just the 1/4" locking bit holder, but it's true if you add on the heavier attachments it can be a little nose heavy. However, you're just wrong about the torque. 300 in-lbs is very good for a 12V class drill. You're comparing it to an impact driver, which is a completely different type of tool. Also, the M12 Surge has 450 in-lbs of torque.
@nickkey656
@nickkey656 4 года назад
@@DoresoomReviews, yes, I was wrong about the torque value. However, after just a day of using this 2505-22 tool I am very disappointed in its lack of power. It stalls soooo easily! So, instead of making a universal tool, Milwaukee has in reality created a super-specialty-oriented expensive toy for only a few limited applications. There is a $50 impact drill/driver 90 degree Milwaukee attachment 49-22-8510 that does all those tasks fantastically and I don't even need to deal with any of those flaws I mentioned above by using this 49-22-8510 attachment on a m18 1200 in*lbs 2804 hammer drill of on the 2000 in*lbs 2853 impact driver. www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Accessories/Driving-and-Fastening/Driver-Bits---General/49-22-8510
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 4 года назад
Just curious, what type of work are you using it on? It's not meant to replace an 18V hammer drill or impact driver. It's worked great for installing cabinet pull outs and shelving in narrow cabinets for me. I actually couldn't reach into the back of one of the 8" wide cabinets with both arms, which would keep me from being able to use the right angle adapter you mention that requires two hands. So it's got its applications that it shines in, but maybe your type of work is too demanding for it.
