Minecraft Redstone Torch in REAL LIFE

This is my version of a Minecraft Redstone Torch. It is made from polyester resin and redwood. The final dimensions are roughly 3" x 3" x 14" and I feel like it really gives off the blockish look of the game torch.
This idea has been on my list for a long time and I'm super happy with how it turned out.
Thanks for looking!

Myanmar is officially using Burmese units, but switching to metric since 2013. Also it's kinda hard to tell how many countries there are. Do you count only UN-members? That's 193. But that excludes Taiwan for example. How many of the states with limited recognition do you want to include? Palestine? Kosovo? That's a rabbit hole I don't want to explore... Belize is using imperial too, but only for exports as far as I found out. It's more complicated as I first thought... but it shouldn't be, if everyone would use the metric system. Which funnily enough was my point all along.

I've done alot of work with redwood burl and curly redwood. I live in northern California where the majority of it comes from, and even up here its too common for people to claim that any old weathered piece of redwood is "burl". Most redwood is very beautiful when finished though, even the straight grain. Ive got some pictures on my IG of some very highly figured redwood that ive carved into flower vases, and some tables and fireplace mantles that ive made too, isername Jhddreck if you want to check them out.

Correction... “And everyone except the Americans cheered.”

No, no, mathematically challenged Americans cheered. Everybody wins in a 10 based system 😁

nickev96 Base ten isn’t actually that awesome, but using a consistent base _is,_ especially when it’s the same as your number system.

You say the Europeans cheered, but literally every country other than the US, Liberia and Myanmar are on the metric system.

The Europeans seem to be the only ones that get their panties in a wad because we don't use metric as much as they would like.

"one of the worst resin pours I've ever done, and it just turned out exactly how I wanted it to" that's so poetic for some reason

It would make for a great ornamental piece for a display unit too. I'd definitely buy one, great work as always Peter.

Just a thought, with it being winter nearly. Could you repeat the same process but with different coloured dyes and have a Christmas themed series of torches? You could even gift them to your family members.... Or keep them for yourself.

Your voice is very loud and clear! Its nice because most of the time i need subtitles because of hearing issues. Even with background noise and noise while you're talking.

It looks fantastic. I think the ripples and cracks that the overheating caused in the resin that are reminiscent of actual fire. The only thing I'd have done differently would be to play around with either blocks of different woods or different stains to give the effect of the pixels, but then it would lose it's ability to pass for something not completely nerdy lol
