Nathaniel, you are about the nicest guy I know. I can’t imagine people using aggressive language on your channel so that’s a real shame. I started with the minelab equinox 800. When the Deus II came out I was ready to buy it until I started hearing about the mods you had to make to use it in water and to make sure the control box didn’t pop off. 99% of my detecting is beach/ocean diving so I decided for the money, it wasn’t going to be worth the trouble. I am not crafty in that way to figure out how to make the mods to ensure smooth detecting. I ordered the Manticore in December 2022. In April of 2023 I was on vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC, and I bought the Equinox 900. I just got the Manticore while we were in Hawaii for our birthdays. I love all three machines, though the 800 pretty much hasn’t been used since April. I have only used the Manticore with the updated software so I do not know about any issues it had when it was first released. I have found more gold in the last three weeks than I have in the last two years. And more gold than my digging buddies who use the Deus II and the Legend. Nice video great side by side comparison. Xo cricket
My dear friend. You leave such kind comments. Thank you so much. I really appreciate you and who you are. I have been very impressed with the deus 2 on the beach but not in the settings you would think. And yes for water hunting I do not recommend it. The Manticore is better for that in my opinion. I have not yet found gold with either machine yet but I hope I will soon.
@@NathanielOutdoorAdventures Hi Nat, yes, usually stick to the Chepstow area. Haven’t been out for a couple of weeks due to the ground being like concrete! Hoping to get a Manticore this month depending on availability.
Don't let the negative and abusive comments bother you. There are a lot of shallow people that exist that will fly off the handle if you are not in total alignment with their views and beliefs. It's the very reason why we don't exist in a perfect world, and never will. Keep up the good work. I've learned a lot from you. I first ran across your videos when searching the pros and cons of the xp dues 2 vs the manticore. After all my research, I'll probably go with the manticore as it seems to have a better screen and does not seem to be quite as complicated operationally as I'm basically a beginner. The deus operations remind me of the old casio wrist watches. They will make you nuts trying to navigate their system.
Thank you so much for the kind words. Yes I think the Manticore is a bit easier to use. And the charging is great with the magnetic lead. Just don't lose yourself with the screen as its not always accurate. I really enjoy using both machines
Nice test, but when there was a visual question, I would lay it back down flat on the ground and have another go over with just the air to ground. See if you get the same thing on the Manticore again Look forward to more, Waiting for my new Manta, Let you know about the hole thing, that is all we have here with the ancient coins LOL..they carried their money on strings:))(Japan) Good Luck
I do like the Manticore and will continue to learn it. I have noticed it struggles a bit in mineralised soil and when a coin is on its side it can get a bit confused. I have not had chance to use it on a beach yet. Wondering how that will be
Target 5 ... As a D2 user... Whilst the vdi was stable high ...the audio on the Deus was very splashy n fizzy and you could tell is was kimda trashy foil like ... Its great audio. I don't even have the control head on it usually
Very true. I love the Deus 2 for the sounds. We have to dig all signals over here including iron so I have learnt a lot about the strengths of these machines
@@NathanielOutdoorAdventures I love the audio nuances on the Deus 2... After some practice you can predict 80-90% of targets ... The only ones that catch me out are moo tubes... But I'm starting to even notice on those Vdi fluctuations on 360
gday from oz,ive found anything on thr angle comes up as a line,i think the core will be a killer in the trashy parks here when we get a smaller coil, plenty deep enough but tid not as good as the ctx.
Both machines gave non-ferrous targets that I could hear was non-ferrous and that is all that I ask. I personally use an ORX because it has the same depth as the Deus 1 and I don't want complexity. I will dig anything that is not iron.
I am looking to get started again with Metal Detecting but I have a basic question that perhaps you can answer. I watch videos and some wear no gloves, some one glove, and like you two gloves.. What do you recommend as I will be using a new Legend machine having become totally overwhelmed by my basically new/unused White's V3i. Perhaps 15 yrs ago when I was younger I could have dealt with this rather difficult machine that lacks a support group now.
Hi Ken, thank you for the question. I do tend to wear gloves as I often find broken bottles and bits of glass in the holes I dig and sometimes I find knife blades and sharp iron shards on the war fields so for safety I wear gloves. But it does reduce the feeling and not everyone gets on with them. In parks I have also come across used needles so I am wary but I guess it depends on where you are hunting as to how much you need gloves. @@kenroman777
Good comparison Nathaniel. You were a bit surprised on I think hole 8 with the bit of aluminum that came up at 15. You will dig rubbish with the machine but aluminum is non ferrous and it was smack bang on the non ferrous line. Manticore read it perfectly. Thanks for the mention. Your ground does look tough. I have found 2 1 hellers over here around a place called German gully funnily enough. Good video. Take care mate 🦘🦘😁👍
Hey my friend. Actually I was not surprised but just not sure yet with being confident with the Manticore. It is an awesome machine. The Hellers are German so it makes sense.
Trying to work out whether the manticore is worth upgrading from the nox or do i get the Deus 2? Don't like the tones on the Deus though.Welcome comments please from people. I would only use on pasture or stubble in UK
I have used an 800 before and I must say the Manticore in my opinion is a big improvement. I would recommend watching The Coffee Bush Kid in Australia to see what the machine can do.
I'm in the same boat, I was loooking forward to the manticore coming out. But the reviews Ive seen so far have been more negative than positive. Now I am considering going for the d2. 🤯
@@Truesigma15 Personally I think for the money the Deus 2 is a great machine. I have noticed with the 2d screen that things like coins have to be lying flat for it to show a round object. So you end up digging most things anyway. Of course I dig a lot of targets that most people would ignore so I have a different understanding
I'm a Nokta legend owner.. thinking if it's worth upgrading to D2 or Manti.. as you've owned both .. which do you prefer and why please... Any issues with them
Actually I also own the Legend. I will have to do a comparison video at some point. My personal preference is the Deus 2 but only slightly. There is not much to choose between them. Charging the Deus 2 can be a bit fiddly, particularly the coil. The charging is very easy with the Manticore magnetic attachment. The control box connection is a bit weak to the stem on the Deus 2. And the little wire you have to attach to make it usable underwater is flimsy and easily broken or lost. Having said that I absolutely love the deus 2 on a beach. I have been very impressed by its performance but not with the obvious settings. The Manticore I have found struggles a bit with mineralised ground though it is impressive most of the time. The screen is nice but not as useful as you would think. I dig every target including iron because of the rules I have to abide by and it has been quite surprising what I have found that the manticore has described incorrectly. But as I say both machines are very good. I will try to do a comparison with the Legend soon.
@@NathanielOutdoorAdventures that would be great....I'm leaning towards just keeping my legend tbh as the price of these other machines can get crazy...I also own a Rutus VERSA which I really rate too
Depends on where you want to use it. Personally I think the Deus has it slightly on grass land but beach and in and out of the water goes to the Manticore.
Anyone that gets nuts and mean online, especially over someone’s opinion about a particular metal detector is just a jackass, so don’t worry about it. Shit this isn’t even politics lol.
Im so torn on which one to get. I live 2 hours from the beach. I hunt recreation fields the most, which i like the least. I hunt the beach the least, which i like the most. Decisions Decisions! 😵💫
That is a tough one. If you water hunt go with the Manticore. I prefer the Deus on fields but they are very close. Both are excellent machines. Charging the machine is much easier with the Manticore. The clip for charging the coil on the Deus can be fiddly.
Having had more time with the Manticore I actually think both machines are very similar. There are some advantages. The charging is easier with the Manticore but takes considerably longer. The Deus you need a thin wire to connect the coil to the control box when going under water. This can easily be broken or lost. But in normal field conditions I would say they are very close. If you prefer visual then the Manticore stands out. If you are happy to listen to sounds more then the Deus is best. You can tell a lot from the sound without looking at the screen. So I think it comes also down to price. Personally I think I prefer the Deus on land but not fully compared them at a beach
I had that shovel before 😂 really heavy and weak I find, can't quite bosh it into the ground cause it's only on 2 pins. Very disappointing actually cause it was like 60 or 70 quid!
