Fun fact: Grohl himself sites Bill Stevenson of the Descendents, who at the time, was playing drums in Black Flag being a direct source of influence for his drum parts, and Black Flag had a song called slip it in, and the drums in the beginning of that song are exactly what Dave said he was kind of mimicking/borrowing from. There's a video here on RU-vid of him talking about it and his admiration of Bill Stevenson, who is an AMAZING drummer. I highly recommend checking out both his work in Black Flag and Descendents.
