I love the Aputure's feel but the GVB has some excellent features and lasted a little longer. Which light was your favorite?

One thing not mentioned here. The GVB may be brighter but the light quality is pretty bad compared to the M9. It is harsh even with the diffuser. That can be corrected with better diffusing but this is something to keep in mind.

I use the AL-M9 as stage light for small shows. It has one serious design flaw: it is dependent on the battery being charged, even if connected to USB. If the battery is not charged the brightness is much much less.

Was ready to grab the Aputure (I think their products are great) but this GVB looks every bit as effective, especially for how little I'll use it. And cheaper. Thanks again. today i was watching and searching some mini light for outdoor using, and i compared sokani, aputure and that gvb. also there is a andoer mini light for 20$ out there. finally i took the sokani because of the build quality. its a solid aluminum case and has a display for status information. when it comes to outdoor shooting, accidents WILL happen and so a metal case might be better.

You should do a review of the m9 vs the mX which just came out, and do the same tests. I would like to see also if GVB has a comparable option to the new mX light.

Is the GVB able to be charged while you're using the light? So are you able to plug it into a USB power bank (or wall plug) to make it last forever?

Both lights can be used while plugged in, so yes, they can be used longer than the battery life. Not sure if they will overheat after a certain length of usage so maybe not forever, but let me know if you experiment. Thanks for watching.

I didnt see any grain when you used them as mains. Did you apply any noise reduction?

I'm not sure about that specific section, but I have used Neat Video on darker footage in the past. If you are dying to know, I can open the project file up and check once I return to the studio. That being said, I recently started shooting with the Sony a7 III and since making the switch (from my old cropped sensor camera), I haven't used Neat Video once, even when I bump the ISO. AL-M9 - CRI 95+, GVB Gear PL12 - CRI? how long is the full charge from 0 to 100%?

Олег Штык Hey! The GVB CRI is between 95 and 97 according to the manufacturer. I think they both take less than an hour to charge but I haven’t timed them. Coming out with a new mini rechargeable light video soon and will cover charge times of these and a new light so be sure to subscribe or look out for that video this month. Thanks, Jen

Thanks for the response i ordered the GVB but it took so long to come in the post, i canceled the order and just ordered the Aputure...which will come in 24hrs and after watching your review i will get the GVB and have the best of both worlds ....we all need at least one light right..so hence my comment.
