The MINI WC50 Edition gets a mild refresh inside and out. I'll take you through the process, and show the work done to this car to bring it up to a better standard.
Would have done the exact same refreshing on this Connaught beauty! Love your "replace with new OEM vs. trying to save worn parts" approach. A car like this deserves it! And BTW, my 2021 JCW also is leaking out cosmoline on the fenders, now that we're bumping up on 100 degree weather here...😠
I greatly enjoyed this video, John. I will send you a PM to ask about some of the vendors you mentioned in your video. I have some work that I would like to do on my R53s.
This is MCS4FUN on the NAM forum. Another nicely done video. Being N14 engine, I did wonder whether intake valves had been decoked. Apparently not. Lucky you with perhaps not so surprising added cost. WRT cosmetic detailing, you mentioned having clay-barred the paint finish before "paint correction and PDR". As noted on my thread on the recently acquired 1-owner 2006 MCS with 4k miles, it has a smallish ding dent on the hood and a much smaller "snakebite" on the right rear corner. I'll PM you later with pics of that but think others viewing this video would be interested in what was involved with both paint correction and PDR ("spoon" method with which I"m familiar) as well as results on that.
Hi Jeff, thanks for the comment. The PDR was primarily done with glue tabs due to the location of the dings. The paint correction was done with a mild polishing compound (probably too mild) then finished off with Griots Paint Sealant.
I have the same 005 car and I would like to know if the stripes on the bonnet were unlacquered, I want to replace mine and they have a layer of lacquer on top, in my case I have to sand to remove them...the OEM stripes have simply been glued ? The original car was not lacquered, but if that is the case, I am not going to lacquer them since I thought they were originally lacquered as a protection measure... what do you think? thank you so much!
