Hey guys I'd just like to say in regards to the shrink wrap or electrical tape. There is no need for it. This would only be an issue if the bottle were to make contact with the battery (without wrapping). This was all taken in to consideration in the design so that the bottle and battery are separated. There is no chance of the two making contact or the bottle cap rubbing against the battery wrapping which can be an issue with some mods. Thanks again for the awesome review Tony :)
Vapor Trail Channel Hey Tony! Can you pin Jo's post about the shrink wrap/tape. I just got my minimal in and that was one of my concerns. Others may be concerned about it to. Great vid by the way!
I completely agree with your assessment of progression. Just over a year ago I started sub-ohming on an iSub tank from Innokin. Now, I don't really use any tanks that use stock coils. My daily tank is a TFV8, using the rebuilable deck and a Troll V2 25. I'm ready for squonking, just looking for that regulated mod that doesn't break the bank. Until then, all rebuilables for me.
In my natural progression tube mechs (which I love) came after RTAs (which I *don't* love). Learned about squonking immediately after I started vaping. To me it makes the most sense but I'm a girl on a budget so I resisted for a year. When you released the Pulse I knew it was time. Ordered the RDA today, along with a 'budget friendly' squonker to get me started and I'm _so_ excited. *Thank you, Tony!*
Tony you've come such a long way with unregulated devices. I remember not to long ago you were hesitant to mess around with this kind of stuff and rda's. Pulse is awesome and squonking is now life, haha. Cheers man!
Really great review! I have been looking at these mods for a while. A little out of the price range. But a beautiful looking mod. Keep up the great work! And keep those squonking reviews coming! P.S. Congrats again on getting your silver button. You truly deserve it.
you definitely got my vaping journey right! that was the same progression I went through myself. but haven't got a squonk mod yet. I'll get there in time my goodness your pulse is just so gorgeous! we are so proud of what you've made tony! hoping your mod comes early cause I'm so excited! tbh I'm scared now using mech mods cause I've been a variable user for so long. thanks for sharing this with us tony 6 core coil! mind blown!
+ReLL!K VaPeR yeah man, I was the same way. Kind of forced into using them because that's what is available. After I started using them for a little bit, my fears were quelled though and as long as you use safe batteries and safe builds you will be just fine
Sharp mods! YOU, Mr., have already single-handedly taken squonking to the Next Level (AND the next one beyond that). Just in case you were wondering about your place in all this.... I'm ever so glad that I got into it (again, your fault) right as it's literally taking off for atmospheric heights. WE (all of us who either used to but have now started again, just got into it recently for the first time or will get into it over the next 3-6 months) ALL owe you such gratitude. You Da Man, Tony B. ^_^
remember the good old days when Tony didn't even want to use the RBA base that came with subohm tanks? he'd say stuff like "i don't have any time for that" and "i have no interest in building, i just want a simple vape". now he is the unofficial king of squonk. way to evolve Tony!
100% agree with the natural progression. I've only been vaping for about 2-3 months but I started with a sub ohm tank and regulated internal battery mod with premade coils, moved to an RTA, then an RDA, then a mech tube and now finally just put my order in for a mech squonker and a squonk RDA. It was pretty rapid for me but I tend to heavily invest in my hobbies so yeh, loving it so far 👍
Vapor Trail Channel Yeah I have to agree there are so many products out there and the quality is usually quite good so it felt natural for me to want to pick new things up and tinker with them. Wasn't so daunting as it probably once was
Wow started on a uwell tank sub ohm. Thanks watching the reviews I changed. As what most people do. Again loved the reviews, just a year later 4 me watching catching up. Thanks again for the information.
It is really cool to see the "little guy" that takes a passion and turns it into a business. Yeah they cost a lot but squonking is a hobby IMO. :) Squonk on my friends
+Oleg Obukhov yeah, I'm sure it's not gonna be the same for everybody, but that's how it went for me and I'm sure a lot of people. Thanks for watching! 😃👍🏻
Been rocking VT inbox (thanks for the special offer) and Gaia BF. Got Pulse22 BF last week and it's been great! Keep up the good work :) Just wish there are more affordable squonker mods which are regulated...
I passed through the "natural vaper evolution" in 9 month and totally agree with your theory. Squonking IS the logical point of arrival for every passionate vaper. I also think that every YT reviewer should only test products they're personally interested in. What kind of judgement could someone give about a product he never would consider to use for himself?
+Drum Smoker True, and not so true. Because we've all gone through those progressions and a test of those types of devices throughout our vaping life, I can still tell you whether I like something that isn't exactly how I vape. Thanks for watching! 😃👍🏻
Ya no problem keep up the good work your helping smokers quit and helping get rid of second hand smoke man I've lost so much family to cancer glad your doing what your doin
ugh!! I need to win the lottery to feed my addiction.. LOL!! these little squonkers are awesome Tony. the grey one is sexy. but that one with the turquoise button is wow! DIBS !!😉😜great video as always bud
Just got my pulse! Best single coil RDA by far! Also, you can use the MAZE V2 Ultem cap (comes with the Hcigar Inbox), as a restricted airflow ultem cap on the pulse. A little wonky looking, but it def keeps the heat away!
Hey Tony, another great review thank you. I've a couple of regulated squonkers and have been looking for a quality customisable mech Sq - this is it and look awesome. Appreciated the pinned note from Joe on shrink wrap, did he comment on any plans for an 'off' switch or plate? Keep up the squonk reviews, you're my go to reviewer for these!
Your bf vids make me happy. Thanks Tony. Unregulated is my preference. I would REALLY love to see glossary or index list of mod makers / groups dedicated to bf. You have already done a lot of the foot work. Soooo.......
Thank you so much man! Really appreciate you. If you join one group on FB, you'll see tons of them popping up on the right as suggestions. Best way to do it until I can get my website up.
Great video as always. Minimal mods looks great but the hassle involved in getting one put me off. I understand they are not mass produced and that's cool but they sell out in seconds on the Facebook Group. I would prefer to be placed on a waiting list and at least know my mod will eventually arrive. Maybe one day I will be able to get one. Same applies to the Steam Rabbit and Frankenskull mods as well as several others. I'm sure China will soon start to make Squonk mods that are affordable and in stock. Something tells me Tony might have a little mod project on its way too! Here's hoping. Still waiting for my Pulse which is in transit from China on a Pidgeon. Can't wait to vape that RDA.
Tony I detest your reviews now. on the day I saw your review on minimal mods. I went to Facebook and got one immediately on that week. I never paid that much money for mods. don't even own a DNA mod. But thank you for the information. you might have changed my vaping style. great review! and Mr.Simpson well done sir.
Nice Mod! How about a giveaway with some of those Mods? I would never win but somebody else would. Thanks Tony, have learned so much from you. I am 100% Squonking now with 2 of your Pulse RDA's
Ive been watching your vids 4 some time now. I 've noticed that you do a lot of reviews on squankers, wich is good but the squankers are questionable(like if the battery life how long will it last),(do they make a two batterysquanker that is not that big) ? Anyhew good job on the reviews, and continue to vape,(be happy).
Not a fan of mechanical sqounkers. Sorry but I just prefer to choose my power to taste settings when vaping. We need much better regulated squonk mods to choose from. Not a fan of the drone or whatever from Lost Vape either.
great post as usual. have you ever used the site IMR BATTERIES.? i purchased a couple of sony vtc5a's for 6.50 each.seems like a great deal for great batteries. thought i'd just pass it along. keep vaping and keep up the great work you do. peace
You get what you pay for, with these small batch mech mods, squonking or otherwise. I'd rather save up, & get a GREAT mod, that will last me for years, than plunking down $50-80 bucks a year; it actually will save you money in the long run.
rodney meadows True story man. Unfortunately, we have been fed a steady diet of cheap products out of China, so when something cost a few bucks more I think that kind of freaks a lot of people out. Thanks for sharing Bro
someone has probably mentioned this but the key ring isn't really a match to the mod design. the key ring is the deathly Hallows sign from Harry potter. pretty cool.
That is WayCool, but I have my VW Squonk ordered & I'm Hooooolding out for my Mech Squonka, as I have heard, There is a liitle something to be released very sooooon, That we All will Need at lest one of mate lol
hey tony, when using a mech squonker does it arc your batteries and leave behind pitting/residue? i would imagine it doesn't as the battery is always in contact, but would like to know before buying one.
The coils I have in this video were from James Mucklin on Facebook or Instagram. He just makes small amounts of them, but he does a great job. No website or anything.
If i ever picked this mod up, first thing I would do is definitely put a little electrical tape on the contact so even if it did touch the bottle cap, it wouldn't short.
Hey just so you guys know. There is no issue and no need for electrical tape. The contact doesn't touch the bottle cap, but even if it does there is still no way it could short unless the bottle cap also made contact with the battery (without wrapping). This is why I have designed the mod so the battery and bottle are separated, so there is no chance of the two making contact or the bottle cap rubbing against the battery. It is perfectly safe without shrink wrapping needed, this was all taken in to consideration when designing the mod.
Vapor Trail Channel I totally understand and am sure your collection is awesome! 🙌🏼 I really like the light grey one on the far left of the thumbnail with the red button. Is there a price range in mind for you to entertain a sale? 😊🙏🏼
Been watching you for a while now, and am interested in try a squonk mod (preferably regulated), but on a budget. Do you, or anyone else really, have any recommendations? Would hate to sink too much money into it and not enjoy it. Thanks in advance!
+Justin Skrukrud you can find the council of vapor wraith on some sites for around 30 bucks because it's on clearance. Regulated, I think 100 W, and a basic device to help you dip your toes into the pool. Other than that, there aren't a lot of options at this point, but that's going to change
GREAT REVIEW TONY ! When these become available to purchase without having to stand in line or jump through all the hoops I would definitely consider buying one of these but China is catching up fast. Just sayin.........
It's one of those things man. You can have a custom suit made for you, or you can buy off the rack. If it's too costly or you don't wanna deal with a guy making them in his living room and running the biz as best as he can, then go for the mass produced China product. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy em. Just sayin ;-p Thank you so much Mark!
Hey Tony, I have a quick question. If the sony vtc 5 is a 20 amp continuous battery, and this mod is a mech, and you are using a build that clocks in at .18, my ohms law calculator tells me thats 23.33 amps (with a fresh 4.2v charge), which is over the 20 amp limit. My question is, doesnt that make it an unsafe build for that setup?
Fryin Yams With batteries, theres both the continuous and also a pulse rating. Continuous is if you're just holding the button down forever, pulse is when you take you 2-3 seconds pulls and that is higher amp rating than the continuous. Idk what it is for the vtc5a, but it could be like 25 amps, for example. And when it comes to the voltage applied, you won't get exactly 4.2 volts from the battery. You will always get less than that, even if the battery is fully charged, based on the resistance of the coil and the internals of the mod. Electricity takes the path of least resistance, so as you can see, there isn't a lot of metal in between battery and 510 connection. This mod may be considered a 'hard hitter' with low voltage drop. I use a parallel mod with a lot of wires inside of it and I get 3.6 volts applied to the coil(I know this because the mod has a volt meter built into it), so you need to take that into account when building.
Don't apologize for giving useful and helpful information my friend, thank you for the quick reply. I was told previously that going off the pulse rating of the battery is unsafe, but you seem like you know quite a bit. So just to be clear. Say you had a 35 amp pulse battery and you built a 30 amp build, you'd be safe as long as youd be taking short pulls? Sorry for all the questions, I'm actually an avid vaper who is just trying to stay extra safe
Fryin Yams I'm glad to help, and no I'm not very experienced with mechs, this one I have is my first one and I've only used it about a month now. And I bought a parallel box so that way I wouldn't have to worry about overstressing my batteries. Since I don't go into a range where I may or may not be over work my batteries, don't take just my word for it. But I would say yes you are fine as long as you aren't chain vaping and you're making sure your battery isn't getting too warm. Other people may feel differently on this matter though, so definitely keep asking around too.
+Stuart Dias never know. If he gets big enough he may start a website. For now, it's an easy way to control ordering, etc. prevents people from going to the website and not being able to buy one because he only makes them in batches of 10-20.
+eat meat right, and probably really poorly made and very dangerous if the mechanical and not made well. Not to mention that they are clones and basically steal directly from the company that put all the time and effort into actually making them. If they're straight up using their logos and all of that and just saying that it's a ____ "style" mod, but straight up stealing everything hysterically about it, that's just wrong.
Sure, but you have to have a decent quality 3D printer. And those aren't cheap. So...if you already have one, you've probably made yourself one :-) I get it though.
I have some ideas using a square bladder(using the food grade silicone kits for food molds, ill make a custom "bottle") and lipo packs and maybe a pwm chip setup to keep it simple but have some adjustability .I want to make one really tiny but usable still.
We need more small bodied single 18650 regulated squonk mods, enough with these 3D printed mech mod squonkers already, they all look like variations on the original Frankenskull mod, nothing new here, the vape deteriorates from the first hit and you'll wish you had a chip in it as the voltage drops.
+Free Gmail well, sure. The problem is that the mass manufacturers, who have the scale of operations to do a regulated device and make a profit without selling em for $300-$50, haven't really found the market desirable...yet. That is changing though. Meantime, the small guys just don't have the capital or means to do it and these are something they can do. And really, while I've always been a "regulated" guy, I don't find the mech side of things to terribly bad. Some of the mods are actually very nice and I enjoy them. But hey...options are great. Even if the market becomes flooded with regulated bf's, there will still be a market for mods like this. Thanks for watching! 😃👍🏻
hey Tony! im actually new to watching your videos and i gotta say your one of the best reviewers there are. No b.s. coming from your reviews ever! Anyways theres no give away for this squonker? cuz its a beauty!! if you possibly could hook me up with any squonker with your pulse atty id be very very grateful.!! Thanks! and keep on doing your thing!💯
+rj hzer thanks so much! Yeah, I probably won't be getting any of these types of things away anytime soon. Be difficult to get, and it's actually my passion so when I get them I do want to hold onto them. You can find my RDA for around $25 though, so grab one of those and you can use it as a standard dripper until you find your perfect bottom feeder.
Vapor Trail Channel Hey its worth a try to ask right?lol and yea i think ima order one when i preorder the boxer squonk mod! thanks for the reply man! keep on keepin on!
I find it so frustrating that you need to have Facebook to order these mods. This is the perfect mod for me and i want to own it with a pulse 22 bf on top! However, because i hate facebook, i cant own one. Pretty rediculous.
+Daniel McGovern it can be looked at both ways actually. It's sort of ridiculous to ask someone who is custom making, mostly by hand, to turn up production enough that they can open a website and hire people and everything that comes with it so that everyone that wants to just drop in and buy one can do it. You know what I mean? He started making them because he wanted one. Sold a few and people wanted them so he made some more. Using Facebook allows them to control how many are ordered so that they don't get under water in making them and tick people off even more when they can easily find the website, but can never buy one. Sort of like the Billet Box. You have to log onto their website at exactly 8 o'clock on Saturday morning, and within two minutes everything they have in stock that week is gone. Then what happens is that people get really good at getting into buy them, they buy them for $300, then they resell them for $700. That makes many people very unhappy as well. I guess it comes down to whether you want to work within their confines and system, or find something else. I understand your frustration though. Thanks for watching! 😃👍🏻
+Daniel McGovern mojovapor.com has 2 Steam Rabbits available as I type this. $165. I totally relate to your frustration. I've had a year of it. If you're not averse to Chinese websites, you can get a super cheap 3D printed squonker. I just ordered a squonk mod from 3Fvape.com. Hoping I can learn the ins and outs of squonking on an economy model while saving for something nicer. (I've been salivating for a Rabbit.) 3Fvape has both authentic and cloned squonk boxes from $15-$120, plus a boatload of BF RDAs (including the authentic Pulse). Sorry for being so long-winded. Good luck in your search.
+Daniel McGovern My pleasure. A word of advice. If you use the 3Fvape site, note that items with a *24* in the top corner of the image ship in about 24 hours. 3F ships an order in its entirety so if you order something with a *24* plus something without it, then the whole order will ship on the date that the 'slow' item is ready to go. I didn't notice that 1 of the 5 items in my order wasn't a 24 hour shipper. Result = full week delay. Probably won't receive my order until near-mid July.
