Another amazing install cap! With all your custom add-ons you increased the usability of that boat ten fold. Not to mention the value and sellability whenever that time comes. Cant wait to see the mk in action. Last video i said you were a true craftsman. Heck. You're an artisan!
thanks Bill im glad i can help but be careful wen purchasing one of this boat you dont get a defected one, make sure you take a boat surveyor even if is new, i should have done that because mine came with huge factory defect cap. safe shopping cap.
Ready for my install cap and so confused!!! Where did all your negatives(black wires go)?? You wired the 60amp breaker in with the charger too? I thought the charger is just completely separate??? Please help cap
Nice work ! And the painted cabin looks great. As a reminder, if you didn’t do it yet, I believe the battery charger has a setting specific to the type of batteries you have. I have the same charger, older version, for many years now no issues. 😁.
Yes it has a setting for AGM And I have to read the manual to how to program it but it was very easy thank you Captain for the heads up that was a very important point because if I didn't do that it will fry the batteries with time. Good looking out captain👍👍
I watched your video at the time I saw 7 dislikes posted. I don't know what they were looking at. But you did a nice simple clean installation Good job !!!
Thank you Captain and those people are our competitors hating my insulation or it could be Marine mechanics that they don't like me to tell people how to do it because that looks business that could be
Lol! My boat has the same problem with leaning towards the starboard side and my plan was to do the same with my install of the minn kota, using the batteries as positive counter weight. Good to know that those type of batteries can be installed any which way. Thank you! (I should really get trim tabs but that will be much later)
Yes Captain if you place those batteries at the right place mid-ship of a boat what really help out imbalance your boat to the side that is leaning in my case on the next 2 videos when I test the boat you'll see the difference
That regular copper wire corrodes very easy on boats, i would try to only use tinned wire on anything that goes on a boat. And then put some dielectric grease on any exposed fittings. Ill even go as far as covering heat shrink terminals with a sealant of some kind. This way your electronics last forever.
Awesome cap. But befor you purchase look at the poor quality build of my boat ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Klne1ssh7k.htmlfeature=shared
Video idea! Your minnkota maxes out at about 52amps. If you take a amp clamp meter and find out at what speed setting you are closes to 20amps then your 20amp charger could take you as far as you want on generator power and onboard fuel. Your battery would just be a power cushion. I imagine the video title to be....”How long does it take the Crooked pilot house boat to get 30miles home on generator power”..lol
yes great idea cap. i a been thinking of that, and i already try using my generator wile using the MINN kota and the battery's gets full quick so i never run out if power is awesome, thanks for the great advice.
We did something similar with the installation of the bluetooth puck. You are going about it smartly. Find what works the best. I think you will find that this motor is awesome. We love ours. Nice install Capt.
Out On The Reef Im using lithiumpros setup 36volt setup with a charging system. It uses the alternator from outboard to charge the battery while the motor is on
@@killakali9845 that's awesome captain in my case I have my generator that I can charge with 20 amp charger we should be a faster charge I believe then using the engine. What do you think of that set-up
Capt look into a pair of flush cut snips for zip ties. They won't leave the tag ends that can cut you if it's a little ruff and you need to access anything that's tied up
Very true but remember I open up some space behind the battery and now I can put the grill back there with no problems but this is going to enhance my fishing 100% captain
Hi Capt... awesome job; well thought-out! I think you should start your own Marine-Custom-Installations business! I would pay you as much as you want to work on my boat!
Zi son increible y creo que duran 3 a 5 años ahora puedo buscar las pedras donde estan lan langosta y no tengo que nadar tanto mucho mas facil cap. Gracias👍👍🏝👋
Yes the 87 is the longest one they have available and for your boat if it is perfect probably. And what kind of batteries do you installed how many amps
@@user-bp1sw1wh8e that's a great size boat and I like the brand and those lithium batteries are very expensive in my case I bought the AGM 100 amp for $174 Beach and I think they should last me at least 4 to 5 years
@@OutOnTheReef lihitum polymer battery for minkota is popular in korea. it is light for carrying to boat and for charging at home. brand new lihitum polymer 's price is 36v 100ah about 800 dollars with include battery chager.
Nice job captain but you should always use tin plated wire on marine I’m sure the minnkota wire was tin plated also before I crimp and heat shrink I coat the wire with conductive paste
Here’s an idea captain, that boat garnered a lot of fame, wether it’s popular or not lol, I say you auction that thing... I’m betting you’ll get enough for a 2520 or at the very least a brand new 2320 lol.
Very true but imagine if I keep this boat I think with time it will become very famous it's only been two years since I had it and everybody who knows about pilot house boats They know about this boat and everyday it gets more famous I think more likes me being able to get a 2820 which is the largest in the fleet lol and this time inspected by the owner to make sure it's not crooked
But then Capt Crooked won’t have the Crooked pilot house. I’m willing to bet he won’t buy another park .... I mean Crooked pilot house he can only love this Barker pilot house JT
@james braselton very true captain and if I ever get a bigger boat has to come with Outboards I really like the at outboard it's easier maintenance than Imboads
@james braselton that is awesome because it's very easy to work on but I've seen some engine room that you can even crawl in there so it's very hard to maintain yourself the engine but if your boat has an engine room with space that is a dream captain👍👍😁
@@SharinFluids the Art Theater of the boat will not give a lot of charge while it's running so I probably going to be using the generator that gives you better amperage
Hey Cap, your videos are not only informative but as important inspirational, appreciate u much. Question: I know the counterweight was a plus for you, not so much for me did you ever consider or have any thoughts about lithium batteries besides their cost?
Have a nice day OOTR.long time no see.how its been ?. looks your boat is getting heavier do you plan to change the engine to add a little horsepower or v6 engine
Another excellent video!! I have a question as I'm installing a trolling motor as we speak. I'm confused why you used black heat shrink tubing on the red wire going to the breaker when it comes off the positive terminal of the battery?
Yes because I only had black I didn't have red to put on the right side but it's okay I still see the wire is red and I won't be confused but good observation captain and if I can help in any of your installation please let me know hope it comes out good captain
Thanyou cap. And yes i did replaced the batteries to Lithium they are awesome, here is the video cap ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6n8uuSvxPkY.html
Great job once again ! Is there a way you could get power from the outdrive to charge the batteries? I have my stern drive alternator charging my 3 batteries...and also shore power.
This batteries are good but check this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6n8uuSvxPkY.html I upgraded to This batteries the are better and lighter but price is higher, thanks for watching cap ⚓️
Have you checked out the Zipwake system? It seriously improves handling/safety and fuel economy and as well gives you the ability to use your autopilot at high speed in safety. Worth looking at
What was the cut out pipe for captain i noticed when you removed the carpet and painted it you removed it? Also is that a scrubber on port deck? What gave you the idea to do this minkota
that pipe was from the septic pump out , you will see that in earlier videos and the minn kota is a awesome tool because yo dont need to anchor at 300 or 500 feet
Question. How does the charger charge the batteries? In other words, Does it connect to the yamaha outboard motor alternator, or does it plug into AC power via extension cord from your house or dock? Crazy good job by the way.
I have a question I'm down in Marathon Florida, I have a Parker 2520. Should I get the 96 inch stingray terrova? Would the 86 be a little shallow on a swell day?
hello cap i have the 72 inch and it works great for me i dont know if your 2520 is higher then mine and i think i have seen your boat at the keys wen im there
@@OutOnTheReef thanks for reply. Still thinking about pulling trigger, some people claim in choppy weather it loses ability to hold. So was thinking about getting the 84 inch or whatever next size up on the riptide model.
i will see how this hold up since there is very little moisture in the cabin and if i see problems in the future i can change them in about 4 years wen i replaced the batteries👌👍 thanks for the heads up cap
@@OutOnTheReef sure capt...the way you place it is nice.is there a hole fpr battery ventilation? should put coffee machine on top while finish and close statement video with a cup..Horraàa...
@@OutOnTheReef Wow so nice...mention on vide a hole for battery ventilation cause cannot be on seal place..only hole for cable u made it .is that oke?..Here 7 am and coffee morning
@@agaramelan7319 yes that's okay this batteries do not breathe the only thing is just can't be completely sealed like a bottle because they could expend very little these batteries are awesome they don't need ventilation
Inside the cabin there's an outlet that leads to the generator and that's how I'll be charging it on the water but when I come home I just use land power
@@fwmarine That's exactly the same Battery charger I have captain I had it replaced not too long ago with my lithium batteries. I have a video on my channel about that. Thank you
Please respond it's urgent! I'm wondering if the main boat batteries is the power source to the charger? We have followed your install very closely. Both this one and the custom install. Pretty much used your exact install for the motor. I thought we could hook the whole system to the main boat batteries to power the charger.
Thanks for the reply. I thought you could hook up the charger to the main battery. In some videos I believe they said to run the engines to apply power to charger. Anyway we used your custom install vid as a guide to install our Minn Kota. Great video! It really helped. Thanks again 😃
@@jeffmutrie227 awesome cap. Im glad it helped, i have my on-board charger and i use my portable generator to charge the batteries i rather not use the outboard alternator because it will reduce the life of the alternator.
@@OutOnTheReef Awesome! Thanks. I'll just get a portable generator as well. I greatly appreciate you getting back to me! Have a safe and great season! Look forward to seeing your videos.
