MB recently released their new Alpha #3 dogless trap. We finally bit the bullet and ordered some to see what we thought. Here it is side by side with the K-9 X-treme JR. I’ll post again after the season about what we think once we’ve actually used it.

Wood the Alpha trap make a good live market trap,,,i don`t want much foot damage , thanks

Hi Clifford. I’m running 4 swivels on mine. Our fox population is extremely low, so I have not trapped a fox in one yet. It is a heavy trap, so I would imagine a fox would fight it some. The large cast jaws have been very good on the paws of the many coyotes I’ve caught in them though. I’m not a live market guy, so I couldn’t say whether or not those folks are using them or still going with a smaller trap. However, again, I will say that I haven’t seen foot damage on my coyotes in Alphas yet. Good luck out there!

The alpha is a #3 k9 Jr is a #2 need to show size with the K9 extreme The #3 The sizes will look different I think jaw will be a bit bigger can't put a #2 up against a #3

Sure you can. That’s what folks were messaging me about. I realize the Extreme is a bigger trap. At the time, there was no #2 Alpha. I was simply posting a video about the question folks were asking me. Hope you’re having a great season. Tight chains!

PA trapping has it right!! Why would you want a pan so large as to allow a critter to trip it within 3/4" of the jaw? Ideally you want the trap action when the paw is centered between the jaws. Obviously, a large spread and small pan will catch and hold more!!

I have 7 Bridger #2 dogless and those big pans work just fine.

Very stout. Very strong. Lock up high. Bed very well. Both traps are great with a huge kill area. The question trappers have to ask themselves before using them is if they want a bigger footprint. Bigger isn’t always better when it comes to bedding and blending a trap. Ultimately going to boil down to that question I think. In terms of quality, both traps are TOP NOTCH!

Iono why F&T won’t sell the Duke 550’s and 650’s and stuff, I assume it because they copied the MB 550 trap but now the new FB Alpha is just like the the NO/ BS trap lol

I don't like the looks of those nubs on inside of the Jaws of the alfa. I don't care about foot damage.....I'm worried about a uneducated warden thinking there teeth...
