This Farmer and his Family needs to stay. But we as American citizens need to invest in ourselves in order to compete Globally and have a very high Standard of Living like the Netherlands. The attempts didn't go thru since his visa was an investment visa without the ability to gain citizenship. The lawyer he had initially said he would have plenty of time to get things sorted out once he got here and was working. Years later and many failed attempts later we are here today. But what would I know, he was just my neighbor for 18 years. I forgot to add the part where the E-2 required a $1 million investment and 10 employees to gain citizenship. Tell me how a dairy farmer can do that with the markets today.

richard welk iv it’s not that easy. First you must be a legal resident (green card) from 3 to 5 years to qualify for citizenship. Not sure if he was legal resident or just had an expired visa.

Just asking as it seems given the age of his children he has / had been here a long time . And believe me I do not feel he should be deported . But it also seems to me that a lot of people forget about becoming citizens .

richard welk iv I know lots of people with green cards living here for over 30 years and they have their citizens kids born here so that’s why some times they are not in the need to become citizens. His case is different his 2 kids were born in Europe and had an expired visa.
