Seattle native and University of Washington graduate Minoru Yamasaki gave us the United States Science Pavilion for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. He designed the iconic Rainier Tower and what we now know as Puget Sound Plaza. His most famous work, however, is New York City's World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. As a Seattle native, I've walked by things he designed all my life and never know their history! I work right across from the Rainier Tower and see tourists taking pictures of it many times, but never connected it to other structures in Seattle! Thanks for making this video!

@@Affixton96 I really meant he would've still kept their classic exterior design but modernize the tech. Put into it just like how they made the new 1wtc...since he'd have no choice but to adapt to the modern skyscraper code if he were here todsy..

@@romarisrogers8005 I meant that he designed them with Islamic architecture. The terrorists did not like seeing office building having the same type of architecture as their religious buildings. The towers' exterior design should be changed too.

Yamasaki, I can imagine If you had lived, how heartbroken you would have been to see your precious World Trade Center which has graced the skyline of NYC. You would have been 88 years old. As a native New Yorker and who has been in the basement of the WTC, I salute you for your contributions in architecture. May you rest in peace Minoru Yamasaki (山崎 實, Yamasaki Minoru, December 1, 1912 - February 6, 1986)

This left out his 1/4 scale version of a WTC tower in Tulsa. The Williams Tower is strikingly similar to its bigger brothers.

I think out of respect, they just wouldn't. Not only that, I think the resources that were used to make them, are too expensive. it would have to be upgraded. But I think those buildings were meant to be in new york, mainly because of their color, design, something about them just looked very American. But maybe japan would be a good home for them, since the architect was Japanese, well, he was born in Seattle, but he was Japanese.

@@andromamasaxlisi1324 I think rebuilding them would be a great message against terrorism. I don't think that'd be disrespectful, it would be essentially a giant memorial. A place to remember but also to admire the great architecture. I'm sure many would visit. I saw a bunch of comments that they'd give everything to go there or see them again, etc.

A Legend that makes America Great
@agustinhernandez3171

@@andromamasaxlisi1324 The practice of using Islamic architecture like this was and still is seen as acceptable by many people around the world, including many Muslims. It is only disrespectful to Al-Queda. That terrorist organization didn't exist at the time of the World Trade Center's construction to protest the design. So they just do their stupid attacks on the Twin Towers when they were ready declare war on the United States.
