I am a big fan of Henry mintzbeg and i have read most of his books. However I disagree with him on the issue of bonuses. Workers need to be paid well. If you don't pay workers well they don't perform to the fullest. Also, I think the cultural aspect had to be intergrated in that analysis of bonuses
Good stuff Henry! The mainstream management academy is spinning in a universe of its own, completely abstracted from the active practice of management. Michael Oakeshott's quip hits the nail on the head, “Like Midas, the Rationalist is always in the unfortunate position of not being able to touch anything, without transforming it into an abstraction; he can never get a square meal of experience.”
