I like the fact that you publicly gave credit to Russ (Recreational player) for a disciplined fold when he had top pair with the King at about 10:38 into the Vlog. Same for the hand with Derek for folding the two pair, when you hit the straight. It is also very classy to recognize that you were bluffing with 8 high and miraculously got there on the river and got very lucky. This kind of dialog is why I enjoy your approach and delivery of content on your Vlog. Nice! And congrats on a good run four hours to the north.

@@alba4life122192 I like Close2Broke too. He’s a solid player who plays his heart out. Sometimes he can play like a maniac and tilt or bluff with no equity but he’s come a long way and keeps moving up in stakes. He’s better than most of the list I mentioned. From a poker standpoint, I like Lex based on his play. Others may have more followers and have built a larger following like Mariano but from watching Lex, he’s the superior player In my opinion.

4 5 6 7 8, yep I have a straight. You have the absolute nuts against a nut. Had to pause and consider your options to maximize value. My perception of this player and the dynamic between you makes me want to go very polar with added deception. Given the SPR I think I would seek to induce by looking vulnerable, a block bet. 20-30%, mostly on the lower end. I'm betting 88, 99, 10s....targeting a seven or worse while hoping some two pair and higher pair hands will fold. Russ seems aggressive enough and with a recently large stack, I doubt I'd get a seven or even two pair to call an overbet. I'm willing to sacrifice some value for the times I can maximize while still getting a little value. A bluff raise from your opponent would leave you enough depth to have fold equity where you could re-bluff. At least that's what I would hope the opponent thought likely enough to hero call a shove with a bluff catcher. If I wanted to fold the seven I might size the blocker bet thirty to forty percent or bet half pot plus. Love hearing you include your thoughts on the dynamics with different players and how that influences your decisions. I thought you played really well so far. at about 4:00 you mentioned that your opponent has the range advantage on a 7 high flop vs your pocket jacks and i may be wrong but dont you still have the range advantage and he would have the nut advantage?
haters could say that your result of the night is due to a lucky river where you'd be snapcalled and lost a tons if you didn't got there. They are right actually, but I think this balance all the shit you had to swallow the past months - bad beats, coolers, etc. Really liked how you played, great session, gg
i think a check when you turned the set of jacks would've been amazing. if you think about it, he's not going to have a lot of things to call you with on the turn after he checks back the flop and you heavily block all the top pairs on the turn. He's either gonna take a stab on the turn or he could potentially take a free card and hit top pair on the river to get you paid.
But then again any 5, 6, 9, or 10 puts a one-liner to a straight out there too, so this hand was always going to be hard to get any money unless someone had a pair plus straight draw, and the turn bet was the only time to get any value out of a hand like that.
