The French audiences are too cold - I have seen great plays in France by Feorges Feydeau, hilarious, nobody can remain serious. Yet the French did not even laugh. My friend and I were the only ones laughing and we were given dirty looks as if we were offending I don't know who
Yes she is amazing £ started singing at two my mother said I'm going to take after my father he sang too I still sing and write songs 72 years on. I was gifeted as a child and been through them all. Yes I enjoyed my life to the full. And lucky to see Alien life to they are called star hunters in life but I feel I can't share so much corruption in our World to share that experience. I would not dare to say she matched Edith Piaf. Mireille Mathieu has different type of voice. Unique, true, but Edith Piaf is one and only, same for her vibrato. Specific and unrepeatable.
@@Mithrandir1983 Actually Mathieu kinda started her fabulous career by doing Piaf songs but later pivoted to her own style. I have to agree on Piaf being the one and only Piaf. Piaf gave so much of herself into her music and her music was really strong, rugged and unapologetic, quite like her life. Mireille Mathieu on the other hand is absolutely fabuluos artist and her voice and articulation is second to none. I absolutely adore her. However as far as we know, she has been a very disciplined private person for all her life with no scandals or any public outcry. Si elle a quelque chose à regretter, je ne sais pas quoi. Il n’en était pas de même pour La Môme Piaf.
oh she's a fine pop singer-but it's all from the outside. Piaf's voice is something else again-you have to be a little delusional to sing one of Piaf's songs when we can hear the original. Piaf's rolled r's were her own, Mathieu's are exaggerated

She’s the best ... reminds me of the glorious days of French Immersion classes in school ... our brilliant teacher would get s hooked on French songs ... and boom 💥 ... we were hooked ... music has that power.

Mireille Mathieu was first introduced to North American audiences on the Ed Sullivan show back in the late 50's or early 60's where nerves got the best of her and she stopped in tears. After reassurances by Mr. Sullivan, she started again and as we say today, "She nailed it!" It was a stunning performance and immediately drew comparisons with Edith Piaf. In my mind, arguably the two most talented female singers I have ever heard.

Very brave to sing this when Edith Piaf had made it her own but Mireille had such a beautiful,clear,wonderful voice she absolutely did it justice. I always loved her look as well as her voice,she was so chic,what every one thinks a French lady should be.A beautiful woman with an incredible voice

No sé en qué lugar del mundo estés, Nancy, pero la "pandemia" ya mostró su cruel realidad. Vengo de escuchar POUPÉE DE CIRE, POUPÉE DE SON (France Gall) e hice un alto para escuchar a doña Edith y a quienes le hacen el homenaje. Y, sí... lo cierto es que después de todo lo que nos han hecho pasar, solamente queda no arrepentirse de nada. Saludos cordiales desde Panamá.
