You can tell that they intended to do more with this game just by how much detail exists on the ground level. On a similar note, seeing free-roam in this futuristic city seriously makes me want a full-fledged open world/GTA clone style game set in a similar setting. That isn't fundamentally broken.
the game seems heavily inspired by the frutiger aero aesthetic that was prominent at the time. I really love that aesthetic since it brings so much nostalgia to me. Back then, people believed that the society that frutiger aero portrayed, was the society that we were going to get in the future, so i like to imagine that Catalyst shows it’s own take on what that type of society could look like in real life. absolute masterpiece of a game.
I like your view on the game and the way you described Catalyst. Absolutely incredible and inspiring game. Just sad that the game never felt "finished" nor did we get any story expansions.
The game is unfinished. The fact that you can go to the stairs from ground level to the actual roofs wich you shouldn't normally be able to shows that the game was bigger.
Thanks to the OLD players of the OLD Mirror Edge game with all their negative comments, we never saw a lot of DLCs of this game. And EA has been reallocating all its resources in making those silly RPG shooter games. It doesn't even make any new NBA games any more.
@@Gazzoosethe1 There are a lot of rumors about EA which is now controlled by a bunch of shooter game people. They don't even make NBA games any more. EA was originally called EA Sports by the way. LOL Mirror Edge Catalyst is obviously an unfinished product that would have a ton of DLCs and a sequel. Everything just got frozen like dinosaurs during the ice age.
@@thedude3005 yeah but not fully textured you dumbass. I expected the character to fall but the streets are textured. Many games use that to save on resources, what the player is not suppossed to see shouldn't be fully rendered and texture as it has no purpose.
@@Juansi2616 it's literally seen by the player also not rendering things that aren't on the screen is a complete different type of optimization and what you can't see is already not rendered also it's simply convenient to just make the ground solid cuz you never know when the player might fall from a low height and clip through it you clearly don't know anything about what you are talking about
Wow the stairs leading to the roof top was interesting to see. Looks like it might have gone through a few iterations. The first was being able to walk on the street to the stairs, then they blocked it off on both sides, and finally they made it so you can't go anywhere near the streets.
If only they allowed you to free roam ya ground level without glitches or mods or whatever in the base game. Maybe someday in a Mirrors Edge Catalyst 2/another Mirrors Edge reboot.
I didn't know you could run on the street ?.. but it looks soooo nice on the streets..I've always said Mirrors Edge catalyst is the best looking game ever 👌
This is so fun and I would love to try this out but I feel like I will fuck something up installing the mods and such and break the game. I and technology do not like each other. I'll settle with these videos.
No, the map is actually in the game but it has no collision in most parts, the only thing the mod did was put collision on the ground so you wouldn't fall
Maybe EA could try to flesh this city out a bit more to re-use it in then next NFS game after unbound? i would like to play a simcade urban racing game set in a futuristic city like this😊
I just found out mirror's edge has custom maps but I think only for the first game so where's the second game at I mean you can also include the first game physics/movement or if you prefer having guns then you can include those but also another thing is where's the custom mods for mirror's edge in general like people are wanting a new storyline just like portal but at least for that game we get custom storyline mods
The streets are so very well detailed, they could've given us some access to it. We see how Cyberpunk turned into an amazing game within the years, and ME:C could've done the same.
having stairs in a building you're not supposed to climb shows how good was old DICE games, bugfield 2042 ruined their reputation so bad. I still believe in DICE being able to release another Mirror's edge, without any wokeism in it
