By self I mean what people identify with, the ego, as opposed to simply pure consciousness. And obviously there’s the body but even that isn’t really what we are, just a collection of predetermined, self regulating organs, systems and tissues we have to make use of to keep our body alive and our consciousness aware. No voice no feeling is “I, me, you, us.” I don’t know what consciousness is but I have a decent grasp on what the self is not.

1. No. It's called Divine Inspiration. Also, it's pretty clear what He meant when you know the context and some messages are repeatedly said. 2. Again, God did not write the Bible and did not "rewrite" it. The old testament was not overwritten, it was fulfilled by Jesus in the new testament. The messages didn't change and they remained relevant. Also, it would be more accurate to say "extend the Bible" rather than "rewrite", being that nothing was rewritten. 3. The "modern" society back when the New testament happened didn't like any of it, as you could see when Jesus is crucified. 4. Any set of beliefs can be used as a tool to control people, even science. As long as there is a following, it can be exploited. I suggest taking any more questions to a priest, who will be much better equipped to answer.

@@reyis_here945 They've publicly stated they would like to make cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, Welfare (in particular food stamps, although I have a feeling they want to cut a lot more than that). A few of these cuts are apparently in the Republican proposed debt ceiling cuts, but I have yet to hear precisely which ones. They have also indicated their desire to cut Social Security benefits, and raise the age of retirement, but they backed off of that (temporarily) due to backlash from their constituents.
