I love that Missy has an obvious Australian accent. Too many lose it when they sing. Tim is a bloody legend. Most known for his musical comedy. There isn't enough space here to explain his greatest as a song writer, producer, singer etc etc

Tim Minchin is a rich mine of musical and comedic ability, one of Western Australia's most valued exports - apart from the iron ore, an assortment of rare minerals, diamonds, pearls, seafood, beef and gold...we can't forget the gold. He took the satire baton from Tom Lehrer (American humorist of the 50-60s) and leapt into the new millennium to reclaim ginger as his birthright. Missy Higgins is a beautiful life force with a distinctive sound and a great back catalogue of songs. This is a beautiful collaboration.

I just find it so brilliant that Tim wrote this song but he also wrote ‘10 foot cock and a few hundred virgins’. He’s such a versatile writer and performer. Missy is simply an Aussie legend. Her run of 3 records from 2004-2012 will be the soundtrack of many peoples teens and early 20’s!

Missy got a deal with an American recording company and went over to record an album. They told her to sing with an American accent or she wouldn't sell anything. So she just came home and sang with her own voice instead. So glad she did.

Tim Minchin is an acclaimed comedian, singer, composer and broadway producer responsible for Matilda and groundhog day. He's a humanist, has multiple charity organisations and super anti religion. White wine in the sun, Prejudice, thank you god, storm, the pope song are among his award winning and most popular numbers. He recently won the richard dawkins award in 2021.

Missy Higgins has a beautiful and natural Auatralian diction to her singing. She is a wonderful story teller in her music. Her song 'The Special Two' is a beautiful example of this. Special credit to Tim Minchin in this recording. He is a very talented man!

Grew up listening to Missy Higgins, she is amazing. Her songs often bring through a raw punch of emotion that just gets you. Tim is amazing as well, he's obviously great on piano and keyboard, he's also a great singer, songwriter, comedy legend - and both of them just come across as pure down to earth Aussies, which makes us love them even more.

I've been estranged from my family for 20 years, I heard recently that my father died. I played this song a lot, after I heard this. Michin wrote it about the loss of his own father.

As a bit of background, Music From The Home Front was a concert that was broadcast live on Anzac Day, when we were in lockdown and couldn't attend the usual memorial services. It followed a month of outbreaks, event cancellations, border closures, mass unemployment, indefinite business closures, etc. We'd already been struggling with months of bushfires (one of our worst) followed by floods, but then had to contend with a sudden pandemic and the social isolation that came with it. Many Australians were also stranded overseas. The concert was intended to honour the veterans of Australian and New Zealand, as well as the healthcare workers on the frontline of the pandemic. It was also hoped that it might bring a little positivity to our bleak, uncertain circumstances. If the performances seem emotional and moving, it's likely because they came from a place of sincerity and empathy.

Vibrato is what you mean by the "jaggered bit to their voice" and yes all the best singers aim to do this!

I suppose it’s sort of obligatory at this point to recommend you react to Tim Minchin’s ‘Prejudice.’ Less for its musicality and more for its content And I can only add to that, as the song unfolds… trust him! (And Missy does have a stunning voice. Just naturally beautiful. She did a more upbeat, poppy song called “Scar” that broke her back in the early 2000’s in Australia. Still has that jazzy tone but it’s almost scatty because of its rhythm and tempo)

I love Missy Higgins. I miss her making music. I haven't heard anything from her for ages. I love that she keeps her Aussie accent while she sings.

Missy did a beautiful version of "Total Control" by The Motels at the Sydney Near Year's Eve concert telecast a couple of nights ago. She shone. (Missy has just written the music for an incredible Australian drama [also called 'Total Control"], and was paying tribute to The Motels by performing her beautiful version.

You definitely need to delve into Missy more, she's incredibly talented, a fab story teller. The Special Two is still my fave but so many amazing songs to choose from.

Not often the Aussie accent comes through when singing but it shines here.

If you want to see what Tim Minchin can really do vocally (considering his career for so long was as a musical comedian) you should watch him in Jesus Christ Superstar as Judas. Stellar performance.

Tim is a major talent in his own right and Missy doesn’t need vocal gymnastics to bring tears to the eyes. Cottesloe is a lovely beach in Perth, home to Tim, Missy and me. And evenings at the beach eating fish and chips is it’s own kind of summer bliss.

Two Aussie national treasures right there. Creative geniuses loved by us all.

Missy's ability to truly emote and 'live' every word she sings is extraordinary. It's impossible not to be moved by her. Check out her cover of Gotye's 'Hearts a Mess' for Triple J's Like a Version, she's spectacular (and an excellent pianist in her own right).

You would of loved the New Year's Eve concert live from Sydney Harbour and broadcast on our TV, featured Missy Higgins, Jimmy Barnes and Tina Arena. I kept thinking while watching it, "wish Nick could see this"

I'm seeing Tim next week! Finally. I bought tickets in August 2019 and it's been postponed so many times and I'm finally seeing his Back tour. This song and White Wine in the Sun are the most sentimental songs to me of any songs ever. They are so purely connected to what it is to love.

Love Missy. I’ve seen her about 5 times live. She gets better and better. When I first saw her she had just won Triple J Unearthed and was just out of high school. She was so shy and quiet on stage. Now she interacts with the audience and is much more confident. I’m meant to be seeing her again at a festival in March. Fingers crossed this bloody virus doesn’t mess up my plans.

Missy Higgins is a phenomenal singer and her songs hold so much emotional weight to them. You should check out ‘Where I stood’ and ‘The Special Two’ to check out some more of her stuff.

You can see the influence of the greats such as Barnsey, Farnham Arena Cebrano just naming the singers not even covering the musicians but even these generations are technicians in their craft. The technique stands out.

Both legendary at their games, Missy has a lovely smooth clean crisp style and is great on piano herself but this must be Tim's writing with the reference to Cottesloe, a Perth beachside suburb he's from Perth, Missy is from Melbourne, they did this from opposite sides of the country during the first of the lockdowns in 2020. Tim's work is a great rabbit hole for you to jump down. Two I recommend are "Cont" & "prejudice".
