Mitch died on March 30th, 2005. A lot of people apparently took his news of his death over the next couple of days to be an April Fool's joke, which I think he really would have enjoyed.
I had the fantastic luck of knowing him in person. I first met him in early 2000, just before he really broke. I got to hang out with him and his wife after a show. At another show, which I had driven 4 hours to see, he got me and my friends a hotel room so I wouldn't haven't to drive 4 hours home in a blizzard. That man was fucking amazing.
He was a fucking genius and was from Where I live too and I wish he was still around today making jokes. Definitely the Steven Wright of my generation.
I just discovered him. He makes me laugh like I haven’t in years. Then I remember he’s gone and my heart aches. I thank my lucky stars I made it through my active addiction years alive.
A great loss...Held him in my arms in Tampa when he cancelled 2nd show... tweaked out on coke. Invited him to our house to come down. Crowd and asshole crew dragged him away to a party. Less then a month later...driving down Ulmerton Road in St. Pete....I heard the news he was dead. I will forever wonder if I had put up more of a fight to save him from himself if he would still be with us today....R.I.P. Mitch.
Mitch Hedberg didn't have punchlines, he had punch points. His jokes didn't need no line. No one ever told Mitch Hedburg to get to the point because he was already there. People should say that Mitch Hedburg's jokes had great punch rays, because his comedy will live on forever. RIP
when me and my old lady found him, i think it was on Pandora, we both agreed he is the funniest, real comedian that we both liked. imagine our disappointment when we tried looking up shows to go to. we found him after he passed, and we didnt even know it. so sad, yet a light in life for others!
Probably his best recorded set, at least that I've heard anyway. One of a kind in concept and delivery. Wish we could have heard and seen more from him, but very thankful for what he left behind.
Loved his stand-up...clever, insightful, and top-notch delivery. I still have my tickets to the show he was slated to do at the Strand Theater in Lakewood, NJ. R.I.P. Mitch.
The Great Die Young! The best comedian at one liners & non-sequiturs, along w/ Steven Wright! You were & are Sheer genius, Mitch! Cheers from Mandurah, Western Australia!
Great observation, I thought it too fast as well and didn’t know I could change that! Thanks again Mitch used to be my favorite comedian, he still is be used to be too
Amazing what crippling social anxiety, a lil heroin to relieve it and a fresh twist on damn near everything will do for a delivery and content. Miss this dude.
Well said Tiger, the courage it took to get up there. Yeah I know substances are a contributor...Tell me how many bands or performers didn't have anxiety or use something to calm down.
I saw this guy before he became famous but he was already hilarious. When he hit it big I called my ex (who I'd seen him with) and was like, "Holy shit! Remember this guy!" Of course she did.
Mitch, thank you, you spent more time thinking about the stupid and nuanced Things I see and just the goofy shit and went on stage to talk about it. Rest in Peace
So many people took his death really hard. Nobody even knew he was sick. It still seems to needle some people, so that's a good testament. I take solace knowing he doesn't do drugs like he used to.
I always listen to him his jokes never get old. I am from Saint Paul also so we here always knew who this guy was. A comedic genius. I used to be a heroin addict also and I finally recovered. I wish that he could have gotten that under control, but then would his comedy have been the same without all of his issues? I guess we’ll never know. But he would still be around.
I've' Never heard Him Speak So Fast, (Probably a 'Reason for it ) Nerves? or did he just get he's 'Nose powder' mixed up ?,,, I Love he's, Jokes' but Prefer the 'Slower' Deliveries' that I have seen. Thanks for putting him on though, ''Great stuff. All Best to Every one' ''This is the 'B.B.C. Calling the World' from London, the u.k. ''ha.

@@jbridges4530 what opiates are you taking that give you energy?
Why did he change, speaking fast as hell in this? He was'nt like that before, I liked it slower...give us a chance to process...the art of his timing was lost here.
Oh my god...an ad. Relax, its not that hard to hit a skip button. I grew up with Network TV where there were several commercials every 15 minutes. And NO skip button. Yep, I'm old but I still have sense of humor.
