5/8/2019 USA Grandpa Bill: DIY Montreal, This will be unusual. I'm 71 and if you were my daughter or granddaughter I would feel so proud. This is a heart thing. I look at you and my heart just kind of swells up in a glow. This is really unusual for me. Your attention to detail and ability to communicate clearly with precision in a voice of caring humility combined with your selections of applications is comforting. I really like this modular table set-up. Furthermore, I really like your little garage. It is a great way to start. You are a living demonstration of starting in a one-room shack and growing into a castle. I can see it coming. You have all the qualities of success. Thank you for posting, and I wish you the best results from RU-vid.

After looking at several DIY miter saw stations on You Tube, your plans looked to be the simplest and flexible design. I purchased the plans a week ago and began building. I had to make a couple adjustments to the plan - I own a Dewalt 12 inch sliding compound miter saw. Since the dust port hangs out quite a bit, I had to increase the depth of the work surface to 36 inches. I cut all the wood and realized the work surface was going to be fairly short and being 6 foot tall, I will need to re-cut longer legs - A dumb mistake I should have thought of before cutting. Anyway, I am excited about finishing this project and adding drawers, and other accessories. I saw your other videos about the drawers and doors. Thanks!

I will follow more of your videos, and yes I did subscribe, so thanks for posting this video ! Cheers from an old guy in Utah... ;-)

I saw this mitre station video and liked the simplicity of not having the side guides that would take up the counter top space. Then, I watched a gentleman from England explain why you might NOT want those side wings/guides. If an eight foot long piece of stock were even slightly warped, the side guide would keep it from being flush on the saw table where it must be in order to get a proper cut. Not having those side guides permits the longer, possibly slightly curved piece to be cut using the in-top stop as you’ve used here. I didn’t want to lose the counter top functionality and your system solves that. Even with removable wings, your system is more functional and equally as accurate. Great job. I also thought a tape track could be routed out just in front of the track and inset. As you have it, it’s very useful.

Frankly, that 'support' didn't look to be too sturdy at all. Extended, I suspect the support end would fall below the level of the table (doesn't appear to be touching that 2x6 in the picture 8:32). One 'quick' fix might be to drill the holes in the slider piece lower in the slider than in the end of the bench - thinking that, this would tend to raise the support block as it was extended possibly countering the effects of gravity on it and the conduit(?) tubes that held it. You could 'capture' the top itself between 'French Cleats' front and rear such that (well sanded and Bees Waxed) the right hand section of the top would (t-track, stop and all) slide right to offer some support to a longer scrap of material. With three (or 4) feet of support to the right of the blade, why would one need to extend that support? Dust collection is far more critical a concern as, regardless the length of the material, you will be making saw dust out of everything you cut. Storage, then might be the next thing to consider. In this case, what twelve feet wide/long, a couple feet deep and thirty odd inches above the floor 1,875,384 cc (hey, the Canadian Metric System!) is a lot of space to waste! Don't pay for plans to build this! If you are to make the effort (and expense - see what a 2x4's going for a Lowes lately?) find some plans of a more comprehensive solution. The Samuri Carpenter has a video link to my right as I write this that appears worthy of one who can afford to spend for a SAWSTOP and the Bosch Chop Saw - maybe they're trying to comp some stuff from Kregg!
