In this we are showcasing the Mixergy smart hot water cylinder installed alongside the Mitsubishi Ecodan.
The Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump is a market leading product in renewable heating technology and can be adapted to many installation configurations.
We have introduced the Mixergy smart hot water cylinder which offers incredible hot water efficiency, flexibility and multiple charging options. In this video our cylinder is installed with the heat pump and solar pv regeneration.
The cylinder also has controllability via an app, smart learning to understand your hot water needs and the ability to charge the cylinder in 10% capacity increments.

The cylinder capacity monitor is upside-down :) Blue should be at the bottom as we all know Nice install !

Wow - so much technology and resources just to heat the water. The amount of copper/ metal and plastics needed in the installation would give environmentalist's nightmares. Is there not a simpler method? so many questions !!

Great video. I noticed the pipe insulation on your installation was properly secured unlike the rubbish in my 2021 new build.

Thank you for your comment. Yes we always look to install every aspect at the highest of standards and the insulation is just as important as the pipework it covers.

The money they'll save on their energy bill can be spent on removing the spray-foam loft insulation.

I had discounted the Mixergy as I had been told that when connected to an ASHP it reverted to being a standard emersion heater and you didn't get the benefit of choosing how much water you needed. For the most part I will be a single person living in a 4 bed 2 bath house so would want the capacity when people came to stay but on a day to day basis would probably only need 50% of the tank if not less. I will also have Solar PV, Harvi and eddie and a Give Energy all in one battery. Can you confirm the Mixergy tank would still work as required with my setup?

Hi Great video... few questions ... 1. can we use ecodan pump + eddy to push excess PV energy to the ecodan boiler? does ecodan supports this configuration ? 2. i have raidators from 1990s, what is the Max water teamperature ecodan can produce ? will this be suffience to heat the old radiators ? thxs for your inputs

The eddi normally heats the immersion heater but with th relay board you can have it set to trigger the heat pump at a specific excess. So for example if you know the heat pump needs 1000w to heat hot water you set the eddi to run the immersion from any excess up to 1000w once this threshold is reached the eddi's relay triggers the heat pump to boost the hot water you set timings to avoid the heat pump cycling on and off. That way you use the heat pump at its most effective

Have you ever installed the sunamps for their space saving and I think they have reduced heat loss too

Hi Lewis, yes we have looked at the Sunamps for a big social housing retrofit development program. Great concept

Thanks for a very informative video. Would you see any issues doing a similar system but using a Split Ecodan Heat pump ?
@dorewoodman
@dorewoodman 2 года назад
Hi Brian, I’m not even sure the splits are available anymore in the Ecodan range, they may have some old models around somewhere but even the very large commercial like the CAHV are monoblocs. Splits are obviously useful for certain situations but they have predominantly gone to Monobloc so that heating engineers and companies can fit them without the F Gas requirements. What do you have in mind? Is it something you are thinking of for your home?

@@dorewoodman I hope to replace my boiler which is in a detached garage. Currently flow and return are in an insulated duct which has worked perfectly. However the distance to the cylinder is approx 20 mt and my prospective supplier has suggested this is not optimal for efficiency in a monobloc system. I have seen that split systems are better for longer distances between the outdoor unit and the cylinder. Thanks for the feedback, Brian

The Mitsubishi ASHP cylinder has much more integrated controls and plumbing than this one.

Hi Nick, are you having issues?

@@dorewoodman hi, no, I'm just in the process of speccing a system and want to ensure all hardware communicates properly
@dorewoodman
@dorewoodman 2 года назад
@@stupidusername38 oh I see, well the Eddi will have its own package, app etc, dependant on the distance between cylinder and electricity meter you may want to consider the myenegi Harvi which is a wireless link for the clamp to Eddi. With the Mixergy cylinder ensure you have the Heat Pump ready cylinder, plate heat exchanger and pv switch, it will then come equipped with the heat pump interface that you can link to the Mitsubishi heat pump and FTC 6 interface.

Where did you wire the mixergy hw thermistor into as the ftc6 has a plug input for the hot water sensor?
