In this I video I talk about how I like to implement wrestling into my jiu-jitsu routine and how I like to get my partners down to the ground in a match. Wrestling and BJJ are complementary, this is why I not only like to attempt wrestling takedowns I also like to "Ashi Slide" into the legs among other "Jiu-jitsu type" takedowns.
Learn how to create leg entanglements your opponents won’t be able to “Power Through.” Ashi Infinity is a thinking mans Jiu-Jitsu, turn the tables on the strongest athletes by nullifying their advantage with leg configurations that don’t allow for ‘head on’ exchanges. Learn to fight from ONLY the most advantageous positions. Ashi Infinity Vol. 2 also Contains the much requested Ashi Slide Series!!! Take wrestlers and super athletes down to the ground with the Ashi Slide and its variations. Not only will these maneuvers get the fight to the ground, it will put you IMMEDIATELY IN FINISHING POSITION!

i read your remarks and comments in an article pertaining to a movie your sons watched in class, you made some valid points. as a father myself, i feel that certain social narratives from the educational system are being directed intentionally at young minds without parents knowledge. thanks for the information sharing. cheers.

One thing I've noticed about wrestling with jiujitsu (my experience is a 5 year ncaa div 2 wrestler), is that it absolutely forces your wrestling to be cautious and technical by focusing on the basics. A lot of the advanced competitive aspects of wrestling, while not useless in jiujitsu, are shown to be what they are--a hyper focused specialization of wrestling. That's neither a good, nor a bad thing.

what is the most important moves from wrestling for mma and bjj? If my target learn wrestling for mma, what roadmap i should take? And how long time does it take?
@insidetrip101
@insidetrip101 2 года назад
@@isos6534 If you are learning from someone who knows that they're doing, I think you can learn to takedown 70% of bjj competitors (including black belts) in less than a year. I really can't say for mma. I've never trained nor competed in mma. For jiujitsu, however, I'd suggest basically what this video shows, with a few differences. The roadmap that I'd give you would be to practice the transitions between double and single leg attacks (and even insidetrip/"o uchi gari", but this is a little advanced). I've seen many people in jiujitsu defend single legs by pushing the head to the outside, but this just sets you up for a strong double by cutting across to a double and they have no way to defend it because they can't block your hand when their hand is on your head. Being able to transition between these takedowns is really the key to success at higher levels. As far as finishes for double legs, I suggest a simple far knee chop. Blast doubles are good too, but require a lot of timing, which means a lot of experience. For singles, I highly recommend learning how to dump the leg. When you perform the dump, don't try to swing your opponent like a baseball bat. Imagine that you have become their leg, and you want to take yourself out from under them so their but falls directly down to the mat at a right angle. It can also be beneficial to learn how to elevate the leg up into your armpit to be able to finish the single. Most jiujitsu guys simply have no idea how to react to this position and can't respond well. This is a long comment, and I apologize for that. There are a few things in the video that I slightly disagree with, however. For example, I think its a little misleading that he talks about pushing into the upper body while pulling at the legs for a single. You want to get in on that leg, and pushing on the upperbody makes it difficult to penetrate deep into the leg. Additionally, legs are significantly stronger than people's arms. You aren't going to be able to pull someone's leg to you, it takes your whole body to get in on the leg. I really like the way Zahabi talks about taking "half" penetration shots. While this can work in wrestling (I did it in college), its usually pretty difficult to do because competitors have much lower stances, so it has to be setup. However, its nice to do in wrestling, because there is very little risk. In jiujitsu, that goes doubly, because its way more dangerous to get your head pushed to the mat and get sprawled on than in wrestling because of the threat of submissions. It also depends on whether you're talking about gi or nogi. In the gi, some things are easier, and some things are harder. For example, its much easier to grip battle, and end up gripping the pants and simply stepping into a single (or a double leg), however, its also much more difficult to take a shot when your opponent can get a grip on your gi and block your shot so easily. In no gi, you don't have that problem, but the lack of shoes is a huge deal when going for single legs. I've had wrestlers kick out of my single legs in wrestling, but in jiujitsu its so much easier to do because you don't have the shoe to grip. At the end of the day, my legitimate experience is that grappling is grappling. Whether its folkstyle wrestling or bjj. There are way more similarities than there are differences and the basic fundamental movements are the same in both disciplines. Things like keep your head up at all (most, of course there are always positional exceptions) times, keep your elbows in, don't put your weight on the back of your heels, have a bend in your knee, etc, etc etc. If you focus on the basics then you'll end up being very effective regardless of whether its folkstyle wrestling, bjj, or (I assume) mma. There's definitely things that you have to modify depending on the rule set, but in the end--if done properly--doubles and singles provide very very low risk and are reasonably high percentage takedowns in any grappling environment. In fact, I think this is actually the reason why the judo associations have banned grabbing the legs, because leg attacks are so effective that it makes it difficult for beautiful throws to become common place (i.e. like in greco roman wrestling). There are so many small details that are just impossible for me to share because I don't even think about doing them unless I'm actually performing the techniques and talking to you about them, but its not all bad not having that wrestling experience. Truthfully, I think folkstyle wrestling in particular has a lot of bad habits ingrained into the culture of the sport. There is this idea that a lower stance is always better, and because of that many wrestlers develop a bad grappling posture by bending and leaning at the hips. This isn't inherently wrong, except that it becomes the main defense of many wrestlers to prevent opponents to getting to their legs, when the proper way to prevent someone from getting to your legs is hand/grip fighting and lowering your level at the appropriate time--neither of which requires a bend in the hips. Last, I'd also recommend practicing to transition between double and single leg attacks (and even insidetrip/"o uchi gari"). This is a long comment, and I apologize for that. To sum up what I tell people to focus on when it comes to leg attacks is three fold: 1) don't feel like you have to touch your knee to the mat in order to penetrate 2) keep your head up. and most importantly 3) don't let your oponent inside your elbows. If you can keep your opponent from invading your space, then there is very little danger of being taken down. Again, I'm speaking from a bjj perspective not mma. I don't do mma. However, I always caution those who want to get better at takedowns, because while they are a lot of fun, they take just as much work as the skills on the mat. And when your opponent can just pull guard, they've negated a lot of your training time that you put into takedowns. I'm not saying that training takedowns isn't important, and learning takedowns does definitely improve your mat work, especially in scrambles/dogfight positions. However, if you have limited time, you really have to pick and choose what you want to be good at.

Off topic but I'm posting so i hope you see this on your newest video. Why tf are you not Colby Covingtons coach? George is retired. The one and only reason he ever lost to Usman was because of Whitman. The only better coach is you. If Colby would have gotten that spot in his camp he would be forever untouchable. I couldn't imagine what he would be under your guidance.. I honestly think he would have surpassed George. MMA Masters wrecked his style and drive. He fought 2 rounds with a broken jaw ffs. And won 1 of them. You trained the welterweight GOAT, now he's fully retired. Get Colby. You could make him surpass all before him. Especially with George's help. GET COLBY ON YOUR TEAM! He's a phenom, and his shtick is done. Yeah he does it to sell fights, but he's open about it and the fans understand the situation. He does it to entertain and draws massive PPV numbers. But he has an ever-growing fan base because everyone knows he's actually a great dude. TRAIN COLBY!
