I love how passionate he is about the clubs, and I have to think it’s because he’s one of the engineers designing the clubs. He doesn’t come off as a “salesman” trying to say why his clubs are better than everything else
Was between two sets of irons at a fitting and honestly a not-insignificant factor for me choosing Mizuno was seeing Vosh do these kinds of videos without all of the nonsense corporate speak. Guy seems genuinely passionate about the product, and Mizuno recognizing that and letting him be a major face for the brand makes me believe they know what they’re doing.
Vosh is an all-time channel great! Best promoter with real talk and I feel he never fakes it with the classic "best iron for everyone ever" fluff and admits there are specific demographics and needs for each club. Such a class act
Vosh’s appearances on RU-vid has had an impact on a lot of people like me. I’d never considered Mizuno as an iron brand for me, but having owned the Pro 225 and JPX921 Forged, they have one of the nicest lineup of clubs for golfers of all abilities. I’d put Srixon as an underrated brand that has gotten some much deserved love on RU-vid as well. Kudos to channels like TXG for showcasing all brands no matter their marketing budgets or market share.
Just upgraded from the 800 pros to the 923 forged. They feel and look like a dream, only hit on the sim can’t wait to get them out on turf this season!
I moved from 221, which I love, to jpx 923 tour. The tour may be the best iron I've ever played from Mizuno... And I've played them since late 90s. Great job Mizuno! The second best being the 221. #3 is the mp32.
I mean Mizuno with this insane somehow near identical shapes but tailored descent angles and stopping distances and consistency... and then the sound! I can FEEL the softness through the screen. This is why for my 1st proper good set Im going to be putting these forged clubs in the bag. I cant believe theyve managed to make a ball fly like this and give so much tailored variety of character through the irons with really (ironically) no variation in flight. Seriously its such a crazy crazy sellingpoint I still cant process what I watched.
I’m playing the 923 Forged. I’m going to test metal woods later this year and for the first time I’ll include Mizuno. Just keep hearing good things about the entire lineup.
Love the vid and clearness of explanation from Vosh. Bought MP223 last and absolutely love them. Would be interested how Jpx923Forged/Tour compare to MP 223
Question. I see the 923 Forged irons are 1 degree stronger than the 921 Forged in the 7-W. I assume I’d get 5 extra yards of carry with these clubs, but what about the 4-6 irons? Are they any longer than the 921 Forged?
Is there going to be a combo SEL set for us lefties ? They sure look and sound great on the video. Well done Mizuno. Let’s not forget Ian’s great ball striking.👍👍
923 Forged looking like a hell of a club for me. If TXG are able to get their hands on a Rapsodo MLM2, I'd love to see how its data compares with the higher-end launch monitors that you use in your studio. A lot of consumers are waiting for a viable home solution that delivers data within an acceptable tolerance of the more premium offerings. It'd make a great video to see how close Rapsodo have come with their latest offering.
I am playing the 921 forged p-5 and 4 iron hm pro. The forged are very hot...maybe too hot...but i would not trade up to 923 rather 223 pro. Love them still
Ian: I noticed your new backswing trigger with forward press... Any reason for that? I'm finding the DJ style press/trail elbow move very comfortable so far... It seems to enhance rythm too.
I am always impressed with Chris. Mizuno is in my opinion the most skilled manufacturer of golf clubs. The company has a complete understanding of how to turn metal into playable art. I will always have Mizuno in my bag.
I’ve been playing the tours for the last several months. It’s one of the absolute best irons I’ve ever felt. A lot of similar characteristics of the 220 series with (imo) better looks and feel. I’ve always been a taylormade/Titleist player but these made me change faster than I’ve ever made an iron change.
I love Mizuno irons. What stood out for me was the sound at impact. The Forged sounded great, but the Tour sound was so soft that I could almost feel it. Great video.
the only 2 club that's 2⁰ stronger are the pw and gw 4i forged is 21⁰ vs tour 24⁰ = 3⁰ 5i forged is 24⁰ vs tour 27⁰ = 3⁰ 6i forged is 27⁰ vs tour 30⁰ = 3⁰ 7i forged is 30⁰ vs tour 34⁰ = 4⁰ 8i forged is 34⁰ vs tour 38⁰ = 4⁰ 9i forged is 39⁰ vs tour 42⁰ = 3⁰ pw forged is 44⁰ vs tour 46⁰ = 2⁰ gw forged is 49⁰ vs tour 51⁰ = 2⁰
probably 1% better than what you have. In Srixon's case, a lot of people think the previous ZX line is better than the MKII. Golf clubs are like iphones... every year or two companies release the next version. Unless it's a whole new model, it's probably not worth changing your set until a couple generations of changes, unless you just love shiny things
Wish they would model the JPX line after the 919s. This club is more like the mp line. 919 was slightly bigger and more forgiving. Give me 919s with copper.
I got some MS 211 in the bag from 1989 2i to S\W in the set. still awesome clubs. I'll never play another brand of iron especially considering who is held of R&D.
Did a fitting w mizuno today. 7 iron jpx 923 forged. Pro modus 115 gave me a spin number of 6700 and kbs s taper 130 was 6000. Distance was same. Which is better in terms of spin ?
This gets me exceited about getting fitted for new mizuno irons. Currently playing the MP-63 with Nippon 1050GH shafts. I spin them way to much though, my swing has changed, time for some new clubs. Thin top line for me is a must, I do not like to look of a chunky Iron.
Just bought a new set of JPX 921 forged irons and other than some weight moved around in the head, is there really that much difference between the 923 forged irons?? Anyone please. Thanks.
I was always afraid to even try a Mizuno iron because you always hear they are clubs for better players. Had a fitting last fall and purchased the 223s (5i-PW) and I LOVE THEM!!! may never buy another brand at least for a long time... May buy a 225 4-iron... or another wedge not sure at the moment. Now, I just need to find a good Mizuno stand bag
Honestly - how many years are these companies going to talk about sole design improvements - more bounce, less bounce, rolled leading edges, rolled trailing edges, more camber, less camber. Seems like they should've figured that out long ago.
Great vid. Mizuno player jpx 919 tour. Curious why is it the 5 irons went the same distance between the models. I understand the 8 iron tour vs forged.
Yep, pretty much. My concern with the 223 is that it seems like the shift into the shorter, pure cavity creates gapping issues. Interested to know if it's the same with the Forged.
I love that the TXG channel has built a relationship with these leading brands. I just feel the reviews will have more bias in them. Especially with the review taking place in the presence of a brand ambassador. Having said that, these clubs are money!
I have only used mizuno irons for the last 25 years.....they really do feel different to other irons and when you hit a poor shot you know it was you or something to do with the ball.
fun fact...Tiger Woods used Mizuno all the way until 1.5years AFTER he turned pro, including winning his first Masters is 1997 with them. so taking away all the big sponsor money...we know which brand is OG
They used to have more differences. They are very similar today. 919 was a bigger longer more forgiving head. Your choice on this vs mp is just going to be looks as far as mb and tour go. You will see more differences in the forged and hot metal versions compared to 223 and 225
if mizuno make the exact same mp 14s that i used to use i will not use mizuno irons i wore out the grooves from playing too much with them and i went to miuras mb 101 mizuno mp 14s if they kept making them i would not have gone to miuras
923 Tour is smaller and more blade like than the MP223. I loved the JPX 923 Forged at a fitting but must admit I “wanted to be in” their classic MP line and went with the 223 which I also loved. It’s funny Mizzy is really starting to blur the differences in MP and JPX lines. It’s like they’re staggered at the top. From most player like to most GI I’d go: MP221, JPX Tour, MP223, JPX Forged, MP225/JPX HMP, JPX Hot Metal
What shafts are they missing. I’m 72. I’ve hit the KBS Tour Lite in regular. The Recoil ESX in reg and senior flex. I believe that Mizuno offers the Recoil 95 in reg as well. Surely you can fit into one of these ??
