Michael had said in many interviews that he heard beats, different sounds of Instruments, melodies and lyrics in his head. Michael said in his younger years he would hear the sounds and melodies in his head and he would get his tape recorder and repeat sounds and melodies on recorder then he would let his music team hear and play the sounds of Instruments Michael made with his mouth. Michael said all sounds he heard in his head was from above the universe. Michael said its wasn't his doing it was God.
Great reaction to one of MJs almost forgotten gems. The foundations of this song was beatboxed by MJ. The vision be had for this album...hard bass, lots of hard beats. This album took new jack swing onto the next stage of its development. Fantastic production that Teddy gets all credit for but the sound was all MJs vision.
To me, "Who Is It" is MJ! To the fullest extent. Especially this sound of the song. Such a departure from his 80's sound. Such an archaic and ancient vibe. It's beautiful and raw! Dark and twisted with a hint of hope and faith. MJ and Riley were made for one another in that studio!
This is UNARGUABLY the best song from dangerous. It is so beautiful and soo haunting . It is in the same league as stellar songs like Billie Jean, man in the mirror, Earth song and stranger in moscow. I'm so dissapointed he never performed this song LIVE. We were robbed! Who is it is one of those songs you listen to when you're sad just so that you'd feel sadder 😭
💯 This song is the apex of all apex songs by MJ! It's honestly (in my opinion) his most PERFECT work of art he's ever created! Ugh, I wish he performed this live! It would have been epic. He would have created such a tragic story on stage with this song.
Donovan, I know you loved this song, but I didn't know you loved it so madly. You remind me of myself, Now as excited as you are to introduce this song to Brenda, I feel the same excitement when I introduce MJ's songs to others, I saw myself in you while you reacting to this song. Donovan, I want to thank your mother so much for introducing you to Michael Jackson. *Your mother is a true Michael Jackson fan.* Now about the song, what can I say about this song, you seem to know every single detail about this song. This song is a true Masterpiece.🔥💫🙌🏽👑🌟💯 And hey, I'm not a new subscriber, you both know me by a different name, can you both guess who I am? 😝 We all love you both! Have a great day!💖❤
Hello! Oh God, this is embarrassing. We're usually very keen on who's commenting. Especially if they've been commenting for awhile. What was your old username?!! And a big YES... I am in love with this song so much! From the beat/music to the lyrics to the visuals this is truly such an ancient and beautiful experience. MJ went back in time to the royal days to create this beat... I swear 😆😅. This song is a pure perfection of art that came alive! I feel so blessed that my mom loved MJ as much as she did and would play it for myself and my sister growing up! MJ was always blasting in our home! Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. Much love from the both of us!
Always a joy to have you both back whenever you guys come back 🙂 The song is just so damn addictive! - Michael beat-boxing the beat is just amazing; the orchestral sections in the background are luscious and the flute interlude is stunning 😍 who is it? is a song, like Morphine, that you can listen to a billion times and still hear little interesting things going on in the background, like Michaels adlibs, or him talking just under the flute interlude (you can just hear him saying...."Don't try to pick me; Don't try ... quit it;I never was, I never would; Just won't stop; Don't bother me; it just wont stop" ). The video is stunning and really is like a mini movie and is soooooo cinematic - even for a man who has some of the most cinematic music videos ever made! Michael beatboxing in the Oprah interview is still amazing to watch! Youre right - God-level more or less sums it up at this point!
MJ created such a beautiful, dark and twisted song with this work of art. It has such an ancient and ritualistic vibe to it. It truly captivates me every time I listen to it. You're right, you start to hear the subtleties within the song. It's so phenomenal! Thank you so much for always watching and leaving a comment! And we're trying to be more consistent. Especially with the MJ portion. It's our work schedules, though. But, this journey has no end in sight and we're so happy and blessed that amazing people like you are still walking with us on this MJ journey! Thank you so much
@@honey.brown.nerdrealm We all totally understand that you both have busy jobs and have your 'normal' lives to lead , so just do whatever works for you both and doesnt stretch you both too thin between trying to juggle your jobs and keeping up regularly with this channel. We'll all be here regardless, whenever you do post videos - particularly MJ ones lol 🙂 Honestly, I see some other channels that post new videos every single day and I genuinely have no idea how they do it! It still amazes me that people (non-fans or casual fans) think of MJs music and they just think its all happy and upbeat every single song (and he does have those songs in his catalogue, dont get me wrong! Theyre amazing!), but then some of his very best songs have a much darker edge than they give him credit for!
I heard this song when the Dangerous album came out. Remember the Time was my favorite but after you get through the first side which is the more upbeat side, Who is It's sound and dark moody vibe really belongs on the second side of the album. Young David Fincher who went on to direct one of my favorite films Se7en did a great job with the video. Michael Jackson was a hell of a beat boxer also.
This song and video is such a perfect and dark evolution of Michael. It truly shows his mature and raw side. It's such a beautiful way of seeing how Michael deals with such betrayal and torture internally. The line, "Somebody hurt my soul..." - really guts me every time. The video has such a cinematic vibe to it. Pure bliss!
After watching this reaction, i think you guys better react to the acapella version of this song that one will surely give you guys goosebumps! The way he sings it and you can really feel his pain and agony. The one thing got me chills was when you hear him cry on that song. Really guys you better react to it. Thanks for this reaction by the way.. more power on your channel..❤
Hey! During this video, we added a bit of the acapella of it during the Oprah interview. But, we'll definitely have to see the full version of this masterpiece! Thank you so much for your beautiful comment! Much love from the both of us!
Since you guys are on the dangerous journey, you guys should definitely react to the video of “in the closet”. As always a great reaction from you guys!
Hi honey and brown. Thanks so much for uploading this "Who Is It" reaction with the official video. I can't tell you how much I love this song and the beat - just genius of Michael from the beat boxing segment to his heart felt vocals it is a haunting love story that left him so lonely. Yes of course this is about Diana. He never got over her -- Michael had a wound from her that never healed. But I have to also tell you In his lyrics he says "is it my brother?" -- I believe that comes from the past when he dated Whitney Houston - Jermaine dated her too and Michael was very upset when he found out. I believe Jermaine wanted to use her to get back at MJ? I agree with you that this is one of Michael's masterpieces - there is no other song like this in his discography - I also think this stands by itself as well as Billie Jean does - I can't compare or say they are similar - only the theme. I love the cinematic video and use a lot of its segments in many of my video mixes because of Michael's raw emotion and the beautiful way he acts - yes acts but we all know he really was hurting so I imagine it was very hard for him to film too. Michael's double did some scenes they say due to his concert schedule - maybe, maybe not? Guys I love both your pure reactions in this video and Honey yes the beat is one to make you want to move to it. Even Oprah did while MJ was beat boxing. 🥰🥰 So thanks again - this made my weekend - and thanks for including The Detail's snip for some background on the video and song. You guys are awesome and I look forward to your next MJ corner reaction 🥰🥰 Have a lovely weekend. God bless you two and keep you well. 🙏🙏 Michael Jackson is forever the King of Pop ... forever - there is no other like him. May he rest in eternal peace in heaven. Michael is forever in our hearts and forever innocent 🙏🙏 ❤❤
Hey! We absolutely love reading your comments every time! You make both of our days!!! Thank you so much There is something holy and archaic about the sound of this song. It's truly a marvel. Pure darkness and hell. You can feel the sorrow in Michael's voice and in his facial expressions. He portrays it so well that you can tell he pulled his emotions from a very real place in his soul. And wow, I never knew that about MJ, Whitney and his brother. That is so fascinating! Kind of heartbreaking as well. I really wanted to do more for this reaction! This song is my everything! Maybe later on when we get better at recording we'll revisit this song again! This (in my opinion) is Michael's magnus opus. It's such a twisted tale of love and being forgotten about. And Diana Ross definitely left a big hole in Michael's soul. He never truly got over it, hey? Once again, thank you so much for your beautiful and positive comments! You are truly amazing!!! Much love from the both of us.
“Who Is It” ~ Is a track from Michael’s 1991 album titled “Dangerous” The song was released on August 31st, 1992 in the United Kingdom (UK) and March 29th, 1993 in the United States (US) by Epic Records. It is the fifth single,it was written and composed by Jackson and produced by both Jackson and Bill Bottrell. It is a tale of a heartbreak over a lover’s infidelity/betrayal. The song is about a man whose woman is cheating on him and he wants to know with whom and why. It is a love song. In the music video which was released in 1993, which is directed by David Fincher the music video was filmed in Los Angeles, California and the helicopter scene in the music video was filmed at the Neverland Ranch. Michael appears as a betrayed lover, whose girlfriend portrayed by English model Yasmin Le Bon is cheating on him but he doesn’t know with whom. At first, MJ finds a card with the name Alex written on it (which could be male or female). He initially thinks his girlfriend cheats on him with a guy named Alex, hence the lyrics who is it, is it my brother, is it a friend of mine? . Later on, MJ along with his loyal servant go to his girlfriend’s place , on his way to her home, MJ’s car literally crosses paths with the truck that carries his girlfriend, and her pimps, which reveals the proximity of the two characters, who are sadly so close but yet so far away. At her home he finds a bunch of other cards with different female names on them and that’s when it hits him that his girlfriend is a prostitute. The name DIANA is on one of the cards, on whom Michael had a huge crush, meaning that he was actually betrayed by Diana. The name “Diana” was deliberately used by the director. The song is about Diana Ross, like “Dirty Diana”, and “Remember the Time”. Arguably, she was the love of his life. In the video “Who Is It?” Michael’s girlfriend regrets what she has done and escapes from her bosses in order to go back to MJ, but only to find out she is not welcome any more. Then having nowhere else to go she returns to her pimps. In the end both MJ and his girlfriend go on with their lives but they are both devastated and torn apart. It is a sad story for MJ and his girlfriend as they both loved each other very much. In the video MJ portrays perfectly the agony and despair of a hurt and betrayed man, you can feel his pain all over. Two music videos were released in 1992 as part of the promotion to the song. Jackson sadly didn't preform "Who Is It" live at any of his world concert tours. However, he did perform a small segment of the song in his interview with Oprah Winfrey in early 1993. An instrumental portion of the song was supposed to be played during the "This Is It" comeback concerts in London. Sadly, it was canceled due to Jackson's sudden death in 2009.😭🙌🏽👑🖤❤️🔥🌟(To me MJ has definitely topped “Who Is It” as well with songs like Is It Scary,Rock With You,Human Nature,Stranger In Moscow etc. but to me all of MJ’s songs are masterpieces and that’s no different with Who Is It with this song if you ever went through true heartbreak or got dumped you feel this song in the pit of your soul and it’s so hard hitting and you feel the despair and heartbreak and loneliness of MJ when he sings this tragic story of betrayal/infidelity of love truly a song that can never be created by no one else but MJ PERIOD! Also I want to point out the beginning of the song isn’t a choir, those vocals were none other than Thee Michael Freaking Jackson he was/is truly one of a kind shall never be forgotten. And I’m so ready for “Black or White” & “Heal The World” now so we can get y’all to watch that 1993 Super Bowl Performance)
My man! Love the knowledge! It's always appreciated. This song and especially the music video is pure art. And I can't believe that the beginning choir sound is MJ! Wow! Truly blown away. MJ is a walking infinite legend! He truly puts himself into his songs and I feel that's why there's such a real and genuine connection with them. We can hear his pain and life within these songs. It's pure bliss! Totally agree. Every song by MJ is a masterpiece. Because of the amount of genuine heart and soul he puts into them. But, for me, "Who Is It" just hits on such a different vibe. I truly wish we would have seen MJ perform this song live! It would have been one for the ages and truly would have blown people's minds to the fullest. Hmmm, we're actually going to be recording a few today and tomorrow. Haven't decided yet which MJ track to showcase. Maybe "Black or White"!!! Thank you so much for always supporting us! You're truly an awesome person!
@@honey.brown.nerdrealm 1000% I’ll always support you two wonderful souls and also yes I def wish this song could’ve been performed Live I imagine MJ in a black & white suit and just singing/pouring his heart out to the fullest
Oh, guys you put the lyrics into your analysis, it's great that way!🙂Brilliant song! Love it❤One of the cards of the girl in the video says "Diana" on it. I think this is a clue who the song is about.😏
Hello! Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment! Truly appreciative of you. Yeah, we noticed that afterwards. It was such a cool *wink* to the viewer to let them know that he's still affected by that pain.
This song is a masterpeice. Like everything is perfect about it. The beat is amazing, lyrics are so haunting and beautiful and of course Michael's voice is angelic. The genius of MJ is unparalleled. Love Donovan excitement presenting this song to Blenda. So cute. :) Can't wait for Black or White, Heal the world and Gone too soon. After that you can watch the Clinton Gala Inauguration where Michael performs Heal the World and Gone to soon (a song dedicated to one of his friends, Ryan, who died very young of aids). Also the official musiv video for this song is dedicated to Ryan. After these songs you are ready to watch The Super Bowl performance from 1993 of Michael. The best Super Bowl performance ever in my opinion. Can't wait for it. You guys seemed pretty happy in this video. Hope everything is great and you keep this up. Love these reactions so much.
Hello! Always such a pleasure seeing you in the comments! Thank you so much. This song is honestly a work and moving art! It's such a dark and twisted tale he's singing through. An absolute powerful and emotional song. This song is truly my everything! Since the first time I was a kid and heard this song, it has been my #1 favorite! Oh don't worry! We're still far from finished with MJ and his songs! This journey we're all going on is going to be amazing! MJ always puts us both in such a blissful mood! Thank you again for watching and always leaving such thoughtful comments from the both of us!
I m sorry guys, I ended up closing my eyes while the song was playing. 🥺 This is one of my top absolute all-time favorite MJ songs. Also, the Opera kinda opening voice at the beginning of the song is MJ himself, then of course the beatbox. And I heard the scene of MJ in the car was a body double, not him. And yes, MJ would still be the GOAT even if he never released dangerous or anything in the 90, the level of success he achieved in the 80s was beyond enough to staple him as a legend. He was breaking and setting records left and right, and some of the categories in the award shows were literarily introduced after his worldwide success.
This song is perfection in my eyes. From the beat to the lyrics... pure magical bliss! Oh wow, never knew it was a body double. That's such a cool fact! This song is my everything and will always hold its own spot in my heart. Every time I listen to it, it gives me the such a nostalgic and epic feel inside! MJ hit a grand slam when creating this dark work of art. Thank you so much for your comment and watching! Always so wonderful to see you in the comments!
Wow! Another huge MJ fan who's fav MJ song is Who is it. I'm 36 and I've been listening to MJ since I was 5. You guys remind me of me and my first gf. I put her on MJ and all of these hidden gems that most ppl aren't aware of. Ie who is it, liberian girl etc. Great stuff brother! Keep on keeping on!
Another great reaction to one of all time favourites from dangerous. What makes this song so special aside from what you guys already mentioned is how it is sonically. There are so many subtle instruments in this track from flute to strings to the different percussion all these elements make it a delight to the ears. It evokes emotions whilst at the sametime a sonic masterpiece. Look forward to seeing your next reaction guys!
Hey! Thank you so much for watching and commenting. We truly appreciate it!!! This song (as I said in the video) has such an ancient sound to it. That's the feeling I get from it. Almost like a ritualistic chant. It's truly a work of art!
It truly broke me that day. I couldn't even talk to anyone on that day. I miss him and his music everyday! Sometimes it's hard to listen to him nowadays. Brings back such a beautiful and nostalgic vibe to me
A HELL OF A BOMB TRACK. So known yet so underrated!!! That beat is actually Michael Jackson beatboxing! They just copied it with some instrumentals! When you hear MJ Beatbox who is it, It literally sounds just like the instrumentals! Another fun fact: in that breakdown at 5:30 Michael was actually emotional, that wasn’t staged or something just like the ending of she’s out of my life, haha! Those breakdowns gave the songs real emotions which is why he left them in!
The beat alone should be played for the gods! It has such an ancient and mystical vibe. It's pure beauty in in art form. I love how MJ always incorporates his own voice in an instrumental way. This man's talent has infinite amount of levels!
Another masterpiece I just groove to and feel his pain. Why wud any woman hurt MJ bcuz if I knew him personally, I wud hv to survive my heart-attack first bcuz I die a million deaths with just his voice alone….I cud never hurt him😂 MJ IS MAGICAL and multi-faceted in his moves, looks, dancing, voice etc. There’s nothing wrong he cud ever do in my eyes….MJ IS PURE love and heart. God broke the mould after he created the KING OF POP👑👑💯🙌🏾❤️👏🏾👍🏾
This song is beyond anything! It's a moving piece of artistry that is so haunting and tragic. You can hear his cry and torture in his voice when he's pleading out. Michael poured out his soul in this song. And it's so sorrowful.
Love this song! I always relate it to the woman he was dating who was cheating on him (he mentioned it in his leaked tapes) as the way he sings it is so personal, but that said it could be about anything. Either way It’s such a heart wrenchingly beautiful song!
You can hear the anguish and sorrow in his voice. What a haunting melody. This is truly one of his best songs he's ever created! Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment!
@@honey.brown.nerdrealm he did opera voice here in there. In ghost he dose opera in the very beginning auto version, in stranger in moscow he does it tords the end, in someone's put your hand out he dose it in the bridge he dose opera as well
Oh for sure! It's a song that I typically don't listen to as much. But, it'll be fun to give it a real shot and discuss it! Thank you so much for the comment and recommendation!
